That scene reminded me of the part in Wolverine Origins when he goes flying out of the hummer just as it gets hit by a rocket, then he goes flying toward the helicopter. Just that the scene in Fast 6 was more unrealistic than that.

When that scene ended, the entire parking lot at the drive in started laughing. Awesome, but just impossible, even in a movie.

It was one of those scenes where you just knew the screenwriter was sitting there thinking "this is going to be awesome" as he wrote it.

Maybe this might answer some questions regarding the runway scene. Typical F&F logic right here, give or take a few miles.

I finally got round to seeing this today. So many people I talk to thought it was pretty awful, which I knew was the typical thing for someone who's not into fast cars to say. Nonetheless, I rounded up a few mates of mine who hadn't seen it and are into cars going very, very fast - and we all headed for the cinema.

It didn't disappoint. I enjoyed it so much. Yeah, some of the scenes were silly but that just makes it more fun to watch. What good would a movie about road cars racing around at high speeds be if it were too serious and everything had to be 'realistic'? It would probably be pretty boring.

...and that runway.

The scene took about 13minutes and i assumed they drove 200KM/H.

Considering most of the stunts are done around 65-80mph I highly doubt they did it at 200kph (125mph). This also gives you the idea as to why they have such long winded stunts, just made to look "fast"

Considering the fictional speed for the fictional runway length. We know they didn't film it at that speed, and they wouldn't have filmed it in 1 shot either because they would have run out of runway...

I always hate those driving stunts done at lower speed, then they edit it, manipulate it to look fast ... they made it look fake and just bad to look at - especially after several viewing. You can almost always see the added speed effect. Is there any movie with chase/racing scene that is authentic and no CGI added ?

BTW, the movie okay. not too bad, and not too good :)

Yes - The French Connection. The film's famous chase scene is so real that most of the people involved had no idea that they were a part of the film at the time. William Friedkin strapped a camera onto the front bumper of a car and told Gene Hackman to drive like his life depended on it.

Also, the giant chase sequence in The Dark Knight contains less than two seconds of CGI, which appear when the Batpod is ejected from the Tumbler, and even then, it's only because the production crew couldn't make a rig that would do it safely (and that was headed by Chris Corbould, who has committed some of the most elaborate and difficult set-pieces ever shot - like the train derailment in Skyfall - to film). When you see the truck flip at the end of the chase, there's a plume of what looks like steam coming out of the rear of the truck. That's the after-effect of the nitrogen canister the production crew used to flip it. Christopher Nolan can be a very polarising director, but even those who thinks his films are soulless generally respect the way he always goes in for practical effects where possible. Everything from the plane hijacking in The Dark Knight Rises to the spinning corridor in Inception was done with practical special effects and conventional film-making techniques.

Just got back from seeing this ,Hugely fun movie ,untill the last scene :indiff: There is so much BS people could take in a movie .As for the cliff hanger not looking forward to that to be honest .More thoughts later but to sum it up Fast 5 was better.

Original Gone in Sixty Seconds, Bullitt, Jack Reacher car scene which even shows Tom Cruise stalling the car after it crashes then starting it back up to continue. That wasn't scripted by the way, they went with it. I'm sure there are more and I was also going to use the Dark Knight scene as well, since it is a favorite of mine too. Mad Max also didn't have CGI and some of the stunt men actually were hurt.

I know I just made that point, but not everyone knows that...so it is good to say it out loud.

Yeah, I just watched Jack Reacher a few days ago, the chase scene was quite good, although I think they speed up some scenes in a subtle way.

They might a little but watching the behind scenes, since Tom is the stunt driver, he doesn't use a back up. It all looks consistent with the movie. Too me it didn't seem all that fast, it seemed to work with the speed the busy city streets would allow.

Anyways when I found out movies like F&F speed stuff up and use CGI, I too was sad. I think I found out when Tokyo Drift came out.

Atleast Tokyo Drift it had some authentic scenes ,I watched last week and only realised that the fisherman was the drift king making a cameo  I think they had Team orange do some stunts if I remember .

Anyway Fast 6 just took stunts from wow that looks cool to are you kidding me,It's really not a bad movie at all aside from the airport sequence ,I'd say that's probably the best I've seen Paul Walker act and the entire crew were amusing and there was actually shades of good story telling .

They needed to keep it grounded alot more and whoever thought of the airport sequence needs to stop playing GTA.

Edit:I'd also like to point out the insane cars that were shown there  gone along way from tuned civics to a FXX

Went to see this last Thursday. Excellent movie. Definitely more thought-out then Five. Can't wait for the Seventh.

I wonder how many of London's supercar owners were asked to have their cars used in the street race meet-up.

All of them probably  ,One of the highlights of the movie for me were the cars ,although the FXX appearing on normal public roads was a turn off :D

Hope the seventh they keep they tone down the stunts from "Are you kidding me what is this a cartoon
' to" wow that was slightly ridiculous but not half bad".

It might have been an Edo Competition Street Legal FXX although Jalopnik claims that particular FXX in the movie was simply just a kit car modelled on an Enzo.

So um...yeah that plot twist in the Sixth with Han...

I have no other words other than I feel the producers are trying to do this

Damn you Jason Statham, you killed the coolest character Sung Kang ever played. And yes I think Black is going to return

vin diesal is talking to officials at Marvel I already think I know what position he could play how about the thing for a fantastic 4 reboot

God, I hope not. To be honest there are plenty of other characters he'd play better as. Like Luke Cage...or Thanos since he is good at making funny and unique voices, I mean he was the Iron Giant after all.

You already pointed out some good movies, here's another one:

Loved that chase with the Audi

and yeah the FXX was fake as it seems.
