130mph in an ex-cop car on the way to South Carolina, and in 130mph in a 996 Turbo 4. didnt feel all that fast

With no speed governer that's all you got up to? I know my civic can go that high on the speedo, and my friend has gotten his Miata speedo to 123mph. I know they are all a bit off, but still. And I thought the 240 speedos went up to 130. Or is that the sr20 ecu?

Maybe you had your flip-up lights on. I know they slowed my friend down by a good 10mph.

The speedo only goes to 115 and the needle was dancing around under the 115 for a while. So I don't know how fast I actually going but I was in 5th gear at about 6000rpm. And no S13 speedo goes to 130 but you can tweak the japanese speedo so it reads in MPH and not KPH and if you do that your speedo is good till 180MPH.

117 MPH with my large heavy 1994 Chrysler LHS =)
the governor speed limit was 117 MPH.. didnt make me happy at all
i was at 117 MPH and me RPM was around 4K out of 6K 6K to 7k is the redline

253 kph on the German highway a couple of weeks ago, when I was on my way to Austria.

Yours would do 253km/h too, Diego, if it wasn't for your gangsta rimz.

In a Mondeo ST220!

Wow. They're becoming a bit common round GTPlanet parts:

Haven't had it to 151mph yet, but...

So that means that you have a ST220? Well in that case, join the club my GTP-friend. I have the older 5-speed version. I bought it in august 2002. Yours (?) is the 6-speed version.

I had my 04' Acura TL up to 140mph and I still had 6th gear, although it is just a crusing/gas mileage gear anyway.

It is indeed a 6-speed version - 2007 model.

Most I did on my current car, a '99 Seat Toledo 1.6RS 16V was 215kph (about 134 mph). It's not much, but got there relatively fast and with the same driving feeling as if it was doing 120kph.

On the one I had before ('96 Punto 75 ELX) I squeezed it at 210kph on a steep downhill at the freeway. Only once, I almost crapped myself when the steering wheel started to shake... :scared:

i maxed out my dads tuned sti (before he sold it)
needle went out of the numbers, i guess about high 170ish

On an infrequently traveled stretch of highway late late at night with a good six or eight miles of flat straight road, I hit an indeterminate bit above 140mph in the SVX - I was a bit more concentrated on what was ahead of me than the speedo at that point :sly: I'd guess 143, 144.

It was no surprise that the lefthand valve cover gasket "mysteriously" began leaking the next day. Also no surprise that after '92 (my model year, and "year one" for the car in the US) they were electronically governed to 142 or something in that neighborhood.

Irresponsible? Quite. Fun? Quite. Would I do it again? Erm, no.

160 in my Porsche
115 (rev limited) 02' Ponitac Grand Prix
125 on an 04' Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R @ Laguna Seca

Which Porsche is it? Do you have pics of it you could post on the 'post a pic of your real car' thread?

Also, why only 125 with the Ninja?...

I was inspired to do a little top speed run last night. I got it up to about ~125mph before the speedo started moving really slowly and the car started making some iffy movements. I will hit that pesky limiter some day.

on a nearly empty bit of I-70 i hit 115 in my subie....then i ran out of power and hit an uphill...haha...nice thing about AWD is you loose something like 40% of your power to the AWD system its self...

fastest ive been in a car, 125 on a downhill portion of the A1 in Germany in our rental Renault Scenic diesel of all cars.....fastest ive been period, .87 mach (fast cruise in a 747-300)

and CraftyLandShark, have fun with your SVX, they are really cool cars :D
