Sounds like a cry for help.
Don't quote me on that.

*sigh.
I've said that before haven't I? Never works.
In fact I've gone to other forums and found people quoting what I say here.

There. I've quoted others quoting me. :ouch: That's beyond arrogance.
That's snobbery.

Wait. Don't quote me on that.

"You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection"

^ That is actually a small part of a larger quote:

. . . which itself is a smaller part of a larger work that basically says hate is a waste of time and compassion the only way out for all.

______________

Brutus:
There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune
;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.

Julius Caesar Act 4, scene 3, 218–224

"Look at these people, these human beings, consider their potential, from the day they arrived on the planet, blinking, stepping into the sun, there is more to see than can ever be seen, more to do than... No, wait a minute. Sorry, that's the Lion King, but the point still stands, leave them alone!" - The Doctor

“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here.We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?”
Richard Dawkins, Unweaving the Rainbow: Science, Delusion and the Appetite for Wonder

Isn't that also from The Enemies of Reason? I'm sure it's part of another Dawkins rant about how not believing in an afterlife makes life much more special because we only have one shot at it.

I could probably read Dawkins post all day long, the man is so enlightening.

From Derren Brown, a favourite entertainer of mine:

"Each of us is leading a difficult life and when we meet people we are seeing only a tiny part of the thinnest veneer of their complex, troubled existence. To practice anything other than kindness towards them, to treat them in any way save generously, is to quietly deny their humanity."

And a lighter quote from the same man:

"Have your cake and eat it... there's no other reason to have cake."
