Off-topic, but related...

I finally checked out GT Academy last night and I thought you might get a kick out of this:

MajikTom Beats IMMORTALPILOT

Melikes Tokyo

Now I suppose he'll go back and kick my butt.

One time? OMG took me about 20 tries to beat you. I was stuck at 26.441 after about 3 or 4 tries.

We will check you position before the event closes and let you know if you need to do a couple more laps.

Very cool man I enjoy watching these.. But how the heck do you get all that audio man? I mean eithier way this must take forever.. By the way I was your first view ;)

Good work man. Audio is fine. Need to find an hour to watch the whole thing.

70's-90's commentary I get from http://www.f1archives.com/blog/. Great site for classic F1. I have patterned my video after the BBC Grand Prix show. The intro music, that isn't on this video :grumpy:, and the cheesy Nintendo 8-bit era music during the grid titles are straight from their broadcast.

I have a 4 track recorder that I hook up to the stereo outputs, or in some cases I can DL an .mv4 and just cut the audio out that I want. For recent '11-'12 races, I hookup my recorder on the center channel of my receiver, disconnect all other speakers and turn it way up. Then I watch the race and listen for applicable commentary. Typically I have already watched the race and may have taken notes on where some good commentary is. "this must take forever" is an understatement. Honestly when I am in the thick of it, it is all I do. Which is kind of unfortunate, because I don't play the game anymore. Plus I don't think my wife likes me doing it much. I'm kind of hoping some genious takes the challenge on and can tell me a quicker way of doing it.

I have recently been able to create audio of peoples names. Artman, faceman, stickboy and Wilso are the lucky ones. Artman is "start" and "iceman", faceman is "facebook" and "iceman", stickboy is a simple "stick" and "boy", and Wilso is "Will Buxton" and "so". I tried to make a toolo4sno, but it sounds so fabricated and lame.

Man I dont think you give yourself enough credit thats awesome man, you can definitely do something with what your doing here if your not already a tech video/audio guy. Im not saying fabricating gt5 races for commentary is your lifes calling but damn I know one I woulda never thought to do it like that or have the knowledge/patience to pull off something like that. Congrats man!!

Very good Alosno best work awesome.
I put it later on the OP.
HEy Guys i have bad news.

Oh no, unlucky mate. Enjoy your Karting race. I will be available if anyone wants to do some practice or even a practice race tomorrow. I haven't even practiced in the F'10 yet so its good that's its been postponed.

No kidding. I have 0 laps under my belt at N24 in the F10.

Artmannn, have you seen the Suzuka video yet. Too bad about that wheel nut.

lol, not yet but i think i may have an idea. I don't think the pit crew even had a chance to put the wheel nut on as there was brake failure so i couldn't exactly stop :D

I know this won't be a popular statement, but Nurb24 is not an appropriate track for this car. In fact it blows hard core. I think it should be removed for next season. Honestly, I'd like to see it gone for this season, but I don't see that happening.

I like the 'ring like the next guy, but in F1 cars is ridiculous. Granted I need some practice, but it's not going to help much.

Let's pretend someone is in a position to pass; where are you going to do it w/o both cars crashing? If you wait until the long straight he'll just pass you back towards the end of it. If you thought Tokyo was bad this will make it look like a walk in the park.

There's my 2 pennies.

You have 2 penises, WOW, i envy you mate.

I don't mind either way, i love the ring, in any car, its challenging, F1's are a lot better there because of the ridiculous down-force. Remember we are the World Class drivers on GT5 :D Which track would you suggest as a replacement seeing as we have done most of the popular ones?

Is penny slang in the UK for wang or something? It seems like the second one would just get in the way.

We have already had a vote on this matter, but it didn't go anywhere. I want to like the track, but man the F10 is a real pooper there. Ultimately it's the last race, and the standings aren't changing; so it doesn't really matter. If I remember correctly I voted for Madrid when we actually put it to a vote. More or less venting my GT5 frustration here. I used to think I was good, but Immortal (and you for that matter) is putting any of those good feelings to shame.

I don't know about this "we" are the World Class drivers on GT5. When Immortal is around I feel like the pond scum under HRT's cars. I don't want to sound pissy, but I hate knowing there is that much time left out there on any given track and there seems to be nothing I can do about it. That and my competitive nature are colliding to make me cranky:grumpy:. I need to get some real track time under my belt for some valuable experience, but that has proven to be difficult.

AMEN, thanks for saying what most of us were thinking. But its a good experience I think cause being a public room hero is all well and good but beyond winning I want to know how I really rank and racing with you guys regardless of issues has taught me alot and with my competitive nature given me that drive again to practice and try even harder now to find that time. And toolo4sno I feel your pain on the real world racing its like f you dont have money regardless of skill or desire your screwed, unless your a woman or a minority no offense. And its impossible to get a realistic shot and that just sucks. And yes it makes me very cranky but thatnk god nowadays for games like this and let us appreciate them cause without it the stands is the closest any of us would ever get to putting a car on the track and racing against some of the best in the world. As for being slow thats BS cause if you havent checked the guys we race with rank as some of the best in the world and to even come close to them should feel pretty damn good considering. And dammit even though that makes sense logically my competitive side is still pissed and wondering how the hell they do it and I will find out.. (Opening how to race for dummies book now) ;)

Hi Peeps,

So are we practicing at the ring tonight or what? We can do a fun race elsewhere if you guys are not up to the ring.

I really just meant an open track day. I always seem to have something stopping me from getting on track. Whether it be something wrong with my car or the most recent issue of not having the right helmet. Now I have an SA2010 helmet, and my car is "fixed" so there shouldn't be any external problems stopping me. Not that driving a sedan around the local track will directly translate to F1's on GT5, but it can't hurt.

I wasn't going to be able to make it to the race because of a Soccer Tournament this weekend. Man my team has been doing really poor during the first few weeks, so i wasn't expecting much. All I had to do was change the formation and move a few players around and presto! We won the cup! GL Immortal in your race this weekend.

On a more on-topic note, I like the ring, but never had much success. The Academy has taught me one section almost perfectly now, but there's a few I still struggle with.

I'm not looking forward to it, but I'll still attempt to finish without loosing a position from q.

Quali for next season, perhaps at Tokyo? :evil grin:

Actually, Nurb GP/F would be my vote. It's my fav F1 track.

I got atleast a thousand or 2 laps of Nordschleife under my belt so in not to worried.
Only thing im gonna really hate is the crazy tire ware.
