4 stops... dam. I only needed one more lap of gas n i pitted on lap 20 maybe lap 22 next time?

Yeah I thought I'd get cute and try to run low fuel. The first time I only added 10 liters... it's my first competitive race, now I realize i need to plan these things out. It's all a learning process, my race pace was there had second at one point after a few guys spun in front.

I'm guessing it's best not to mess with the fuel amount, it seems to automatically set it to run out about the time your tires go out.

That was a heavy race guys.
1 stoper is not possible for me my rears tyres gone very fast.
This chicance scared me:ill:

U were scared of the chicane? that makes me feel better. I think if I can keep my front end from sliding so much I can run consistant 1:19's

Yeah i honestly didnt feel like racing today , truthfully i just woke up at our q start time :D

OH ! and check this out
Motegi's live Round 8-5 GT acadamy !!

I didn't know we were running today, oops. Wouldn't have made it anyway as I have been prepping my car (and myself) for a track day tomorrow. I'm very nervous. There is a 30% chance of rain tomorrow, and they run rain or shine. I'd really prefer my first HDPE to be dry, but I don't think I'll have a choice in the matter.

So you did another preseason race at Daytona RC? You guys are going to be well practiced by the time it is for points.

Race Report - By MajikTom

Well folks, it was a scorcher this afternoon with temperatures reaching 36 degrees Celsius. Small patches of clouds, but an otherwise bright and sunny day here in Daytona. Our grid of 10 drivers were rockin' the Qualifications and ready to go!

RoadCourse-Daytona_1.jpg

Into Turn 1 they went looking great.

RoadCourse-Daytona_2.jpg

Before they could all get through Turn 1, at the back of the grid, Oshawa Joe takes it from behind and goes off the inside hitting the guard rail.

RoadCourse-Daytona_3.jpg

Into Turn 2, Artmannn kisses GianDoe and sends him on a wild lawn-mowing adventure.

RoadCourse-Daytona_4.jpg

Being the gentleman driver he is, Art slows and waits for Gian to return to the track while Chattimusmaximus takes a solo venture of his own through the International Horseshoe.

RoadCourse-Daytona_5.jpg

Further up at Turn 5, No_Bull tries to take a dip at ATR Management who dominated the Pole and got off to a good start.

RoadCourse-Daytona_6.jpg

ATR Management would have none of that and took a decisively early lead over the rest of the pack after No_Bull lost an edge coming onto Turn 7.

RoadCourse-Daytona_7.jpg

As the field spread out, the first battle ensued between Art, Chat and Tex as they fought for position.

RoadCourse-Daytona_8.jpg

By the end of Lap 3, ATR Management took a commanding lead over the pack leaving IPSwich, No_Bull, Art and Chat way down the track out of sight.

RoadCourse-Daytona_9.jpg

The Busstop got hungry early and took Chat as its first victim of the day.

RoadCourse-Daytona_10.jpg

IPSwich tried to hold off No_Bull, but No_Bull was all over him challenging every corner.

RoadCourse-Daytona_11.jpg

Coming out of Turn 4, No_Bull finally takes IPSwich and leaves him behind.

RoadCourse-Daytona_12.jpg

Now he's got open track ahead and sets his sights for ATR Management.

RoadCourse-Daytona_14.jpg

Suddenly, on Lap 4, DISASTER! Immortal catches some grass and the Busstop takes its second victim!

RoadCourse-Daytona_15.jpg

As he tries to get back on the track, No_Bull comes flying through the Busstop like nobody's business and they come together HARD!

RoadCourse-Daytona_16.jpg

This sends No_Bull into the wall at 170mph!

RoadCourse-Daytona_17.jpg

IPSwich motors on through and takes 2nd position away from Immortal as No_Bull is sent careening across the infield.

RoadCourse-Daytona_18.jpg

This of course affords the rare opportunity for someone other than Immortal to lead the race. Fortunately for ATR Management, it's Immortal's Teammate MajikTom who goes on to lead 10 laps before the Busstop eats him for another snack.

RoadCourse-Daytona_19.jpg

After succumbing to the evil Busstop's wrath, MajikTom takes an early pit at lap 14. A 2 stopper seemed to be the Formula for the day.

RoadCourse-Daytona_20.jpg

Immortal took his pit on schedule and that afforded another opportunity for others to lead. No_Bull and Art fought it out for a few laps trading the point, as well as paint and rubber. They continued fighting after Immortal re-took his seat at the head of the race.

RoadCourse-Daytona_29.jpg

Later in the race, MajikTom was working hard to regain his position when out of Turn 5 comes MrSafeway, "unsafely" backing up back out on the track after a spin. Luckily he notice Majik Coming through and pulled back off at the very last second avoiding a tragic incident.

RoadCourse-Daytona_31.jpg

A couple of laps later, Majik notices MrSafeway parked all lonely-like out of sight in Turn 5 and decides to give him a show. Majik skillfully pulls around Turn 5 and executes a perfect 360 and continues on down to Turn 6 with the pedal to the metal...

RoadCourse-Daytona_32.jpg

...leaving poor MrSafeway in a cloud of smoke!

RoadCourse-Daytona_33.jpg

As the race wore down, Chat's quest for 5th position came to a conclusion as he beat GianDoe exiting the pits.

RoadCourse-Daytona_35.jpg

They drafted Immortal around the track as he zoomed by, but GianDoe forgot his water bottle, so he took another trip back into the pits on the very next lap.

RoadCourse-Daytona_36.jpg

By Lap 47, Majik had been busy making up time, lapping back markers, cruising all alone when suddenly the podium was in sight. He reeled in Art, who was comfortably in 3rd position for awhile at the end of the front straight and stuck to Art's tail for a number of corners, waiting for the perfect pass.

RoadCourse-Daytona_50.jpg

Coming out of the Busstop, Majik made his move. They darted down the straight side by side with the furious drone of a hornet's nest.

RoadCourse-Daytona_51.jpg

Unbeknown to them, just about a quarter mile ahead, OshawaJoe had spun out and was trying to get back on the track when No_Bull was passing through in 2nd place. Joe caught the skirt and rammed No_Bull into the wall!

RoadCourse-Daytona_52.jpg

Unfortunately, this sent No_Bull into another pin ball bounce to the infield and propelled him into the pits!

RoadCourse-Daytona_53.jpg

Meanwhile Majik and Art were racing down the straight across the line battling for what was now 2nd position in the dying laps of the race!

RoadCourse-Daytona_58.jpg

No_Bull was stuck in the pits and OshawasJoe, likely feeling bad, decided to mow some lawn while he waited for No_Bull to take back his place. Majik held the high line into Turn 1 and went on to take 2nd position while Art still managed to pull off a podium himself.

RoadCourse-Daytona_59.jpg

But of course, the star of the day was once again our IMMORTALPILOT taking the checkered flag in style.

RoadCourse-Daytona_60.jpg

Another eventful day of racing in the World F1 Championships comes to a close as everyone gathered together for a beer and peanuts.

Wow great pictures and great captions. Reading this and last seasons thread makes me realize the fun im missing out on. But im saving hard for fibre optic. Who knows, I might sign up if and when I get a connection.

Till then keep on buring rubber! :)

haha love the commentary but I was headed for the pit anyways when joe hit me;) out of gas on lap 49 :'( almost made it a a one stop race. I wanted to disrupt the ATR team with a second place finish so badly but to no avail.

Awesome pictures Tom.
This Sunday is our first Saeson Race in Daytona Road.
I hope all Guys are there then.
Hey Gazziboy i hope you can fix your internet can you drive??
One question LEYBA and akawhiterussian you guys drive??
Joe you need maybe a new teammate??

Do any of you gentlemen know the diameter of the rear wheel and tires on the F10?

Edit: Best I can find with dry tires says 660mm.

I have to practice 5 different cars and tracks each week for the stuff I'm involved with. Luckily I don't need to worry about tuning for most of it as it's SPEC racing. Lot's of fun and helping me improve my racing...except in the F10.

I received my Helicopter today(currently charging), the Instructions are in German so:
ich muss lernen Deutsch

On the race, i still think a one stopper is good if i didnt have so many incidents, finishing 3rd after all that is not bad at all. I had a spin free stint 2, only traffic and people ignoring blue flags. Next time i eill try the non-beer setup to see how it goes, i'm liking my tyre wear, even with my multip.e spins i managed a 1 stopper, kinda feel like Lewis, getting a grip on those tyres. And i apologise for my outburst on the people that were chatting about the canadiqn grand prix, it was a cracking race and woulda been ruined if i knew who'd won. Next time please start by asking if everyone has watched the race, even if i was on a fast lap i'd stop to say dont talk about it (with a pretty please).

Can the Heli fly in English air space too or only German IMMORTAL?? i wouldn't want to get shot down by F16's. Hmmm so will the Ferrari F1's in 2016 be named F'16's too?

If you're looking for the rolling radius, it's about 6.75 feet.

Edit:
Setting your gears? Immortal and I set our gears a little differently. He sets up for overall speed. I setup for more torque to lay down the power.

Thanks Tom, I think that's what I'm looking for but I'm in way over my head. I googled gear ratio calculator but I'm having a hard time translating the information from the F10 to get a reliable looking matrix of power/torque through various points in the powerband given each gear.

If one of you fine gentlemen can help a guy out it's been way too long since college and my brain is rusty to say the least!

I can only start at 2nd race as you know.
You way faster to start the series than i expected when signed and have a commitment for next weekend.
Enjoy the race guys.

You may have to pickup a good engineering book on transmissions. Amazon has many good books, some of which I have bought over the years. Unless you understand some of the principles of torque/rpm and power, playing with gear ratios might not produce desired results. It's not rocket science and a good book will teach you volumes.

At the end of the day, it's all about laying down power at the right place to kick you into (and down) a straight as fast as possible. 10 extra mph at the end of a straight can mean as much as 1/2 second per lap or more.

At this rate I may just have to rely on personal testing to do it, no worries. I'd love to have a stock race F1 someday for fun, just to see how the drivers add up with parity. Maybe I should hire a mechanic to work on my virtual F1 car.

I may not be able to make the first race it all depends on how far I get my car put back together. No offense but I'd rather race in the real world than online so that is why Ive been iffy on whether or not I can race on sundays.

Is it possible to change the wheel sensitivity or rotation settings on the DFGT or G27?

I'm watching the replay back and even though some people are using wheels like the G27 I've noticed their movements are much snappier, which would mean a ton of travel in the wheel without this adjustment. I would expect Immortal to be smooth, but his movements are highly jerky. Does controller sensitivity make a difference?

yes it does you just have to find whats most comfortable to you (without scrubbing speed of course)

You replying about the steering sensitivity on the DFGT/G27? How do I change it?

One thing I've noticed watching the replay BigTexLPFan is running a hell of a lot of camber. You can visually see it from the in-car view!

Might have a bit much there Tex!

Watching replays is never a true representation of the steering input, there is always a bit of lag. If you look at your own car, it will look nice n smooth as well as perfect gear changes, look at others' and its a completely different story.

I was thinking how smooth I am compared to the rest of you guys and perhaps I should be more aggressive and erratic with the steering input.

That makes sense, although there are still some drivers who seem smooth and fast, Majik is still really smooth on my replay. So there's no way to change the steering sensitivity/ratio on any of the wheels?
