Ferrari F458 Italia

Nice job on the Scud 'chop. It looks really pissed off, which is a good thing IMO. đź‘Ť

Thanks :)

I think the original front design is too soft.
They should've modified the F430 front and used it.

EDIT: GT Pro, I'll remove those inlets. No problem.

I'd be surprised if it hadn't been designed with some purpose. Ferrari seem to use the wind tunnel more than a pen and paper now.

My guess would be brake-cooling ducts. Looking again at the crash-test ones on the Jalopnik site, the position of the vents points to them ducting air into the wheel arch area rather than the passenger compartment.

I did think that at first but wasn't sure, as there are two other vents around the arch which could be for brake cooling. Of course, being a performance car they could all be for brake cooling...

They appear more like extraction vents for the front mounted radiators than intake vents.

I saw something on the Westway near Edgware Rd on Friday evening. It was going the other way and i only saw the back after it had gone past. It looked a lot like the 458 from behind but i'm sure there aren't any road versions are there?

What else has that single protruding rear light on each side?

Looks like they have had a few drive around. Last minute tuning up, perhaps?

Excuse the tags, people will steal.
You might see me at Pininfarina in 10 years. :sly:

That's just how I pictured it, that thing is sexy, see you at Pininfarina.

I like this car, but from the front it just looks ghastly. Anyway, heres some more pictures, from TopGear.com

What material is the side sill? It's doctored in the original press photos and these appear to have a sheet of aluminum? It's a very strange accent, and leaves me wondering why not use carbon fibre.

I was thought the same. When i first saw these pictures i was under the impression it was painted white, or at least highly polished stainless steel. Looking back at the press shots, and on those recent test mules, it looks matt dark grey. Maybe it's available with either?

It's just reflecting light at that angle mate, hence it appears white/bare metal colour.

Front looks god awful as I imagined. The interior is really something though. I love those air vents.

So is the F458's design finalized or are they still hammering it out? I like it's sleekness and appearance of lightness compared to the F430's wide stance.

Isn't this car supposed to be lighter and turbo'd? Or is that for the Enzo replacement?

This will be the production car. If any changes happen at this point, they'll be very minor.

And I always thought the 430 was a narrow mobile.

I love the front, nice and aggressive, not unlike a Gallardo. Much better than the F430's gormless mug.

Does anyone have a rear-view 3/4 shot of this? I'm thinking that will be its best angle.

EDIT: Nevermind:

The side (as per Speedster's 2nd photo) seems to suit the eye best.

Typical new age Ferrari, ugly as sin. I think it's safe to say this won't be a classic. I will admit the side profile is gorgeous, but that front is just unforgivable:yuck:. Interior is cool and gimicky but a bit tacky for a car of this calliber imo.

Um....

Do i need to say it?

*coughpairafours/cough*

Okay, It does sound really good...but, meh, it's not my favorite noise...someday, I'd love to put a couple 4A-GE 20V heads on a V8 block, with a flat-plane crank, juuuuust to prove a point.
