Thanks for another enjoyable night of racing guys. I only managed to run about 10 practice laps before last night so I was a bit worried about my competitiveness with this combo when I heard of people doing 17s compared to the high 21s I had done. :nervous:

In the end I was involved in good battles in both races and managed to improve my laptime by over 3 seconds so I've got to be happy with that.

Well done to @GTsail290 in race 2. We never seem to be too far from each other!

I did hamper a couple of people early in race 2 though and after a braking misjudgement going into Brooklands I ran into the back of @acedition333 and punted him off so sorry about that. :guilty:

I'm always waiting for the tuesdays race reviews and everytime its very well done , I can always imagine how it was 👍
a shame that I can only take part on saturdays :irked:
as my connection issues seemes solved , I'm definately looking forward to saturday

That's always one of my first thoughts after posting the results, "King is gonna love this!". You should be in for a real treat Saturday, I think last night was the best racing we've had so far (and we've had some great racing).

IT'S UPDATE DAY!

So.....we finally got one of the things I've really wanted in the game........TIMED RACES!! We can now set a time duration instead of a lap count and I think that's just splendid. Almost every race I host is setup to run a certain time length so now there's no reason to get out the abacus to determine lap counts. This will need testing of course, and I plan to test it this evening. Another thing, apparently if I turn "false starts" on we get some kind of lights for the start instead of 3...2...1...GO!, and I'd love to have proper starting lights! However, I don't care for false start penalties as they can lead to a massive schmozel as people try to dodge a stalled car. I'll have to test this as well to see how it works, I'd love to have proper starting lights.

Anxiously awaiting Mr. Penso's Undocumented Changes thread! I hope there are some other goodies hiding in there for us. Dat Bimmer is quite

I love the false start check , and a proper tree sounds amazing ! if your test run is not to late ,I'll join of course

Probably won't be until around midnight your time. (Stupid job).

If the false start ghosts the offending car so everyone else doesn't have to avoid them, then it's useable. I abandoned it years ago after seeing several accidents caused by stalled cars on the grid. I'm on the fence about it, but I would really like to have proper starting lights, especially if there's a random delay for the final light so nobody really knows when to go (this is how Indy Car does it, 1 second delay between the first lights but the delay for the lights going out is random up to 1.5 seconds). This keeps people from anticipating the start and rewards good reaction time.

Awesome that sounds sweet. Timed races sounds epic and now this will really help for vcrc. You could just set a it up for 60 minutes instead of trying to figure out how many laps. Is that new BMW a vgt?

If we ever get enough people to do a full 50 minute race again.

Yes, it's a VGT, and it's beautiful.

Apparently it sounds like poop though.

Poop?! How can you make a car look that nice and make it sound like 🤬. Aw :yuck:. Oh well I still want it.

Also I'm hearing talks of a 27th of may release date for the ayrton senna content.

There is going to be an online event with the Senna Content, right? I don't mind being last but I want to join if someone hosts one :)

Also joining Ferrari practice tonight 👍

No problemmo, I got on the breaks late and bumped MC Chase and thought the contact behind me was a result of my late breaking, but incidents happen on the track and I don't think Ill be losing any sleep over this.

Watching the replay again, I can see that you're trying to refrain from bashing MC Chase.👍

So, it wasn't any late braking on your part..... Its all my fault for running up on you and smacking your rear-fender.:guilty:

I carried too much speed going into the esses, so I wasn't able to adjust fast enough for the inevitable accordion effect that was bound to ensue.:dunce:

Sorry!

Did your Ferrari suffer any damage?

I probably owe you a new paint job, at least!:D

I'm going to give myself a five-place grid-spot penalty for the next race.:ouch:

See you on the tracks!

(presuming you guys don't mind having false starts added to the races).
I would love to have the false start included , we're having it at the zero cup and its great to benefit or suffer from a good/bad start .
+ as a right foot braker , I'm used to do ken block style launch's with my fly-off handbrake :D

Like I said don't worry about it and I think any self-imposed penalty is unnecessary, but it's up to you. My car is fine, bumpers are called bumpers for a reason.

Except for that nasty scratch your psycho ex-girlfriend keyed into the side of it for you. And the broken tail lights from her baseball bat. Other than that.....mint! :D

I can't like this post enough. I was quite disappointed when we didn't get the option for time length races at GT6' release, but it's better late than never.

I'll try to be around to help test tonight. My biggest fear is that the timed races will have the same problems that the timed races have in the offline section of the game, namely that the race ends for the non-leader after the clock hits '00' and not after the winner finishes his race. The winner winning should bring out the checkered flag for the other drivers, not the clock hitting '00'.

Edit: I'm hearing the online pit stop bug is fixed with this update. This may make online endurance races viable for the first time in GT6!

Do GT6 updates always take this long...?

No, this one apparently has some extra install elements that are taking longer. But a 900mb patch does take a while, depending on your internet speed.

Same here. When I saw times races were in the offline portion I really hoped they'd be available online. I didn't think it would ever happen so this was an incredibly pleasant surprise! But I too have my reservations about how the end race is handled and that's why I want to test it out.

I just got home from work, got the update going at lunch so hopefully it's all ready to go. If it is, I'll have a room open in a few.

EDIT: I'm going to have to step out for a few so I've joined Sag's room for a quick test. I'll have a room up in a little while for more testing

So, to report on what went on, the timed races work perfectly and in the same way they commonly work in real life racing. You can't finish your own race until the winner finishes theirs, and for the first time ever in an online GT race, and at least in timed races, you can finish and be classified a lap or multiple laps down.

The false-start grid starts work well when you get them right, but it seems Brandon has reservations about the penalties for false starts.

All in all, I think the game has improved tremendously, especially if the tire glitch is finally gone (something I have yet to test).

Yes, the timed races work great! In true PD fashion you can only set it in certain increments but it works. We will try it this Saturday to give it a thorough testing.

I'm not totally sure how the false start penalty works. I intentionally jumped it, by a lot, and it said "4 second penalty". I had no power for that time and by the time I got up to speed you guys were gone. But with a larger field and different track it might be manageable.

What I'm wondering, since I jumped it a by lot and it said 4 seconds, if you only jump it by a short amount do you get a shorter penalty? It's been years since I've used them, forget how they work. I loved the lights and how you don't know for sure when the start is coming, adds an interesting twist. We can test that on Saturday too if nobody objects.

Interesting. I also purposefully jumped in the second race but only just and I got a 1 second penalty. I drove by you easily at the start despite my penalty so I wasn't nearly as delayed.

I agree that this should be tested more thoroughly.

^ If that's the case, then I like that, a lot. It was very cool sitting there, not knowing when the lights would go out, but knowing you could get a penalty for going too soon. There are reports that the delay between when the final light goes on and the race goes green does vary so you aren't sure when it's going to happen and the anticipation skyrockets quickly!

What?! Pd finally got it right?! . But seriously, I believe pd has good intentions. It just doesn't always end out well. Most of the time they fix their mistakes eventually. Now with this senna content coming along, all we need now is the brand new track editor. I sure do hope it was worth the wait. Oh and I forgot one thing, I hope that we will get at least one more vgt car in about one months time. I don't know. Sound like I'm asking too much?

Hear, hear.

I really like it as well. Unlike the previous false-starts with a timer, you can't practice your starts now and you have to rely on your own reactions. I imagine starts will be much more variable throughout the field and now starting near the front won't guarantee you being one of the first into T1 (especially in spec races where gearboxes are fixed and starts used to be uneventful). Those who get penalties (which I hope won't be many, it's easy not to jump if you wait for the lights to go out) would be an obstacle for those behind, but I feel that's very much similar to avoiding stallers in real life racing. I really hope the new false-start system can be adapted into the racing here.

So far, it seems they got it right, and gave us some very useful things. Neither are major things, but together they could add a small breath of fresh air into what we do and change how we think about some things. It's interesting having to keep an eye on the clock during a race and not have a lap count to check. 👍

Part of me is very excited about the course maker, I spent hours and hours hours with it on GT5. But, custom tracks didn't display on the side monitors which kind of lessened my enthusiasm for them unfortunately. I'm sure it will be the same way on GT6, but at least I have bigger screens now so it won't be as bad. I just kinda sucked before because I went down to a single 23" monitor which was small and ruined the immersion. The 32" should be better though so I'll be trying to recreate some real world tracks. And I already have a few routes planned out for when we get the gps element for the course maker.

Hear, hear.

Pretty much my sentiment exactly. I never cared for them before but now I'm kind of excited about them.

I think it might be even easier to avoid a penalty because you don't know when it's coming so you don't try to anticipate it and time it perfectly, which is what happened before. Now it's all about reaction and that changes how you approach it.
