On the other hand, lime green is bad luck for Ferraris, judging by the first round of Blancpain and by Krohn Racing's misadventures in WEC. :scared:

Had 15 or so laps practice tonight with Amary and Cue. got several 2:12.0's and 1's but no 11's yet. I'll probably get some more laps in tomorrow, get serious and try and get some 11's :P.

Don't knock yourself out, wouldn't want you to be tired for the race. :P

Can't have you beating me in qually again, that would make it the third time in a row you've done so (yeah, I've been counting ;)).

It's one of my greatest joys in the game, because you're a very worthy adversary. I seem to be somewhat capable in the Ferrari so watch out, at one point I had at least a 2:11.5x going but lost it in the Schumacher Esses. :sly:

I got 2:11.2 with SPORTS SOFT! 🤬 my driving skills!

:banghead:

()

Let's try something.......give it a go with SM and see what kind of time you get compared to the SH's. If the SM brings you closer to the ~2:12 mark that guys at the front will be averaging then I don't see why we can't let the guys at the back (all due respect) run on a slightly better compound to make the races more enjoyable for everyone. Presuming nobody else is opposed, that is. 👍

I suppose I'll get SM tires after getting beaten up my butt twice in a row :D
just kidding , still a week left to improve .
but it's a great idea 👍

Sorry fella, I've raced with you too many times to fall for that one! I would really like for the field to be balanced though, if letting some guys upgrade the tires one step would easily achieve that then I'm all for it. I think I've pretty much raced enough with everyone that's signed up (except for one) to know the relative pace of each driver so this should be easy to test/sort with the current group. @Torzilla, put down your Four Loko and give the F430 a crack on SM tires and let me know what kind of lap times you get. If you're around 2:12-2:13 then we can have a go at a two compound "balance of performance". 👍

Sounds like a good idea. 👍 They'll have to manage some serious tyre deg in the longer race, I would imagine; should be interesting.

Managed to get down to a 2:12.4 yesterday. If I can attain a similar race pace and drop a few more tenths in absolute pace, I'll be quite content. At least that way I might be able to stay in the tow of you hotshoes for a while and choke on your exhaust, while being close enough to take advantage if there's a mistake made. :sly:

All my gains in time over earlier runs were a result of backing it off, slowing down more, and focussing entirely on corner exit. I'd recommend that approach to those who, like me, are struggling a bit with this car.

Yeah, you're kidding no one @KingKlingeling .

I'm all for a contested field so naturally I'm all for people using SM if they lack the time for practice or just can't grab the times in general. I like the way you can load the front under braking on this one, I'm actually running a rear bias on my brakes now - never saw that happening!

That shouldn't be a problem, thanks to the NJ lottery I've been drinking for free all weekend and my liver could use a much deserved rest. I should be able to test SM's in a couple hours and Ill post here as soon as the results are in.

I'll try to do some testing with the SM's to see how their degradation is. If it's too much than I might lessen the tire wear to Normal. I want the focus to be on close competition and racecraft, not necessarily tire strategy. I do want there to be some degradation so it makes late race mistakes a bit more likely, but I don't want those mistakes to be inevitable.

OOOOOO! How much did you win?? And how much are you sharing?? :dopey:

What's Four Loko by the way? We don't get it over here, is it like pre-mixed vodka RedBull or something?

Close. It's strong booze mixed with caffeine, keeps you awake so you can drink more. 👍 (I've never tried the stuff, I enjoy sleeping).

As much as I would assume mixing alcohol and caffeine isn't the greatest idea I doubt it's that dangerous being as how vodka red-bull is quite popular (at least over here) - I used to sink a fair bit of it at uni a few years ago. I think I once heard it was banned in France, but that could well be bull**** because I can't find a source on google.

In Scotland this stuff is mad popular,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckfast_Tonic_Wine

But they're a bit crazy up there (apologies in advance to any Scottish guys reading this).

EDIT: I quote wiki here "The beverage has entered the popular lexicon with nicknames such as "Wreck the Hoose Juice",[12][13] "Commotion Lotion",[12] "Mrs. Brown",[12] "Buckie Baracas",[13] "Coatbridge Table Wine"[13] and a bottle of "what the hell are you looking at?""

That last one really got me .

Just did some SM testing with Speedy. Speedwise, looks like they're worth 2.5 to 3 seconds a lap; I ran a best of 2:09.8xx, and that was a lap where I dumped about three tenths in the middle sector -- so potentially almost 3 seconds better than my best SH lap (2:12.4 still ).

Deg wise, after 14 laps I was at 8s up front, 7s in back, about a second off pace and car was squirmy but not overly so -- it tended towards four-wheel drifts rather than plowing or snap oversteer. Speedy ran out of fuel on lap 18, and reported tyres down to 6 and 1.5s off the pace.

Four Loko is the leading cause of death in high school and college students in the United States, making anyone who drinks it 110% badass. I did 11 laps on SM's and my fastest lap was 2.12.287 with tire wear at 8 in front and 7 in the back.

edit: Now that I think of it I once drank an entire pot of coffee with Johnny Walker Red, I'm just going to say that you should not mix caffeine and alcohol.

^ Funniest man on GTP.

More to the point, that lap time puts you right in the thick of the pack so this could work. If nobody is opposed, I say give the SM's a go tomorrow and let's see how it works out. You too @acedition333. 👍

Looks like I found a new line somewhere!
