Just finished 10 more laps, was a bit of a fluke that 11.2 so I don't expect to replicate it. I did get two more 11.6's though with the remainder being more or less 12 dead. Clearly i lack a bit of consistency :P.

Occasionally I get a fortuitous slide that actually gets me through a turn faster, but it's not something I can repeat consistently.

Sounds like this is shaping up to be a good battle. I hope this plan with the tires brings the back of the pack forward and makes things more fun for everyone. We'll see how it goes. We'll leave tire wear on Fast for the first race but if it proves to be an issue I'll adjust it. For whatever reason I seem to have an easier time with this car than some and I can manage the tires ok, so I'll want other people's opinions to make sure there aren't any problems. 👍

I think I got 2:15.xx (SH) with pretty clean lap when practising online with Chase and amary a while back. I have had 2 sec faster laps offline, though.

I am still learning the car/track. I might get second or two off by saturday.

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself before we've even had a race so for tonight we'll just have @acedition333, @AboveMeIsCool and @Torzilla on the SM tires and the rest of the field will be on the stock SH compound. If it goes well we'll try it again Saturday and @Cu3e can have a go with the SM's and hopefully we'll have a nice, balanced field. If everyone can be around the 2:12-2:13 range then we should have some good racing. I can now check everyone's specs from the lounge so it will be easy for me to make sure everyone is on the correct tire.

I don't want things to get too confusing or require a lot of testing though so I'm going into this cautiously. I still want some gaps in the field but I'd prefer everyone be within a couple seconds of each other instead of a 5-6 second gap between the front and back of the grid. Good, close racing keeps people coming back, wide gaps in the speed of the grid tends to have the opposite effect. If it all works out well then in the future I can post a "relative target time" for each car/track combo for people to shoot for and they can use the compound that gets them within 1-2 seconds of that time. We won't be able to achieve absolute parity with this method but if we can have 8-10 drivers all within 1-2 seconds of each other I think that would be quite good. I also realize that some of these Ferrari's can be a bit of a handful so this plan might go a little ways to letting the less skilled drivers (all due respect) manage the car better over a race. 👍

A reminder that tonight is the first race of the Ferrari Festival. I should have the room open around 7pm EDT and qualifying for the first race will start at 7:30pm EDT. We will do open qualifying under the "practice" setting, I will reset the track to clear the times and then everyone will enter the track to begin qualifying. This way if somebody gets DC'd or shows up a bit late they still have an opportunity to jump in at the last minute. Please be respectful to other drivers on track during qualifying and don't hold up faster cars that approach you. Hope to see a good crowd!

If I can make it tonight I will get some test laps in. I'm having a feeling that I'm going to end up running sm if allowed. I'm not sure though

So I should be shooting for around 2:11-2:13?

I'm looking forward to tonight's racing, it's a nice car/track combo. Although it does seem I will be a fair bit off the outright pace in qualy as I have only managed a 14.1 in the limited time I have been able to practice. Either way, I am happy to stick with the SH tyres and hopefully will be able to maintain a reasonable pace to keep in touch with the pack.

See y'all later!

You're kind of on the borderline, I've seen you have good pace before so I'm somewhat concerned that if you go on the SM's you might be a bit too fast. But maybe not. Give it a go on both tires when you have a chance and let me know the results. While a few of us have achieved 2:11's I think we're going to be averaging in the :12's under race conditions so if you're consistently in the :12's and :13's you should be good. 👍

I do hope this works out, it has the potential to be an easy way to make the racing more enjoyable for all of us. It seems to work well on the F430 but I'm curious to see how it will work on other cars, especially the FR's. Speaking of, the Daytona at Brands Hatch is sublime.

I'll be there closer to 8pm mark. And as far as the tires, if it gets to be a pain, just keep it at SH. I'll be Ok with it.

We'll see you for the second race then. And as it stands with the current drivers I don't think the tire situation will be a pain at all, as long as there aren't any unforeseen descrepancies once we get on track. It's easy for me to police and I'm familiar with everyone's pace so I generally know who should be on which tires.

If we get some new drivers then it could be tricky figuring out which tire they should be on but we'll cross that bridge if/when we get there. There is one way the system can be cheated but it would only have an effect on qualifying and I'm hoping nobody figures out how to do it. :sly: Of the current crop of drivers I'm pretty sure nobody would do it anyway. 👍

I guess I know your dirty little secret ,but I promise I won't use it:lol:
its cool against AI bobs with 200PP less 👍

oh and I figured out why I lost last time :odd:
the matte red paint is a bit heavier than my usual black :D
I hope you're all having fun tonight ! looking forward to saturday

Yeah, but I think that's the reverse way of doing it. At least that's how I've done it against AI, to make my car slower so I don't blow the Bob's away. But the theory is kind of the same. It probably won't be an issue and will rectify itself once the race starts (I believe) so the worst that could happen is somebody starts a little higher up the grid than they should. Nothing I can do about it though and with the current group of drivers I'm sure it won't be an issue. 👍

So, you're going with a double-coat of matte red for this weekend then?? :D

Brandon, I got 2:10.131 with SM solo online just now (lap 6 of a 8 lap race). It did not even feel like an especially good lap. Good for practicing the track as it is easier to get smooth lines. I think I will use SH anyway for the race, though.

@BrandonW77 according to my calculations the room opens at 12 for me with the race starting at 12:30 - can you confirm this? The clock change has screwed everything about recently and I don't want to show up an hour late.

That's a bit too fast if you were doing it online. You usually have good pace, let's keep you on SH for now. 👍

That should be correct, you're 5 hours ahead of me.

Afraid something's come up and I will be missing today's round. :grumpy: I shall be there on Saturday instead.

Darn. Hope to see you Saturday. Second race tonight should be starting around 8pm, feel free to hop in if you make it back in time.

I'm stil not sure i can make it today

Hopefully you can, but no biggie if you can't. 👍

Oh wait.... race starts earlier than 8pm!!??? Damn.....I thought for some reason it started at 8pm. So around 7:40 1st race starts? I misread the times. I"all try to be there earlier then.

Yes, I moved it up a bit from the my old time slot so I could squeeze a little more racing in before bedtime. The first race will start around 7:40-7:45 and the second, longer race should start around 8:15 or so. Jump in whenever you can. 👍

Oh, and if people are interested we can do a quick shifter kart race after the two Ferrari races are finished. Just a 10 or 15 minute kart race for fun.

after the repaint :D
I was able to run a 2.11.544 (SH,online) within 6 consistent 11.8xx laps
still many room to improve :odd:

I hope we're doin a kart race on saturday too 👍👍👍

I just checked the timezones converter and the saturday races will start at 9.30pm in my zone .
I guess I will take a racing nap before the event . Women is not at home on saturday ,that means coffee and racing as long as it takes :gtpflag:

I kinda hope to make the karts a somewhat regular thing to wrap up the night if enough people hang around after the two main races. I really enjoy them but never get to race them, I figure while I have you all there I might as well try to get my fix in. :sly:

The room is open for practice. Qualifying will start in about 20 minutes, the first race will start around 7:45pm EDT and the second race will start around 8:15 EDT.
