Yep, I would agree that last night was a success. There will Always be issues we cannot control like server niggles of not seeing everyone, or lagging, but maybe these are less frequent on a Sunday if the general global online activity is less than a Saturday! Just a thought.

The second race was one of Epic fails and great racing, taking the lead down at Hawthorns on the first lap by going three wide into the corner was a brave move, but I was confident knowing that @Cu3e was there, to make the move fairly and cleanly.

Also later in the race probably after my 2nd brain fast moment! Playing catch up was good fun and @Torzilla was my next target, we had a very close 2 lap battle for position which again was great to watch back, and perfectly clean and fair 👍

Well done everyone, it's having this trust in people that makes this racing extra fun and rewarding even if you don't win.

Here's that battle with Torzilla

@kHamcio how has the karting been? :)

Ahh yes, I forgot to describe it :)

Well, it was a great experience! A lot of good drivers (like here) and some great rivalry. There were about 40 people, so it lasted pretty long and was really tiring :)

The Tournament consisted of three elimination rounds, semifinals and "The Grand Final Race" It was all about hotlapping, not the actual racing. 5-6 drivers were allowed per "race", which lasted about 6-8min for hotlapping, better lap more points, of course :) Drivers with better scores were qualified for next rounds.

I was able to beat those 3 elimination rounds and I got to the semifinals. It was tough, I got into a group of great drivers. Well, I was still learning the Kart and track, my times were still getting better, but I was really close to the Final :) If I could manage 0.1s better lap, I would get into "The Grand Final Race"! Too bad! But I'm pretty proud of myself!

Those Karts weren't so comfortable. They were tight and it made me some bruises on my body!

Too bad that the Karts weren't equal - some of them were a little bit faster (but the Kart selection was random), and one of them had a big deadzone in a steering wheel (I got this vehicle 2 times, lucky my :D)

And here my Karting story comes to the end, I think :D
Hobby like this is just too expensive, haha!

👍 Good to see that virtual talent translating to the real track. Over here karting is one of the most affordable ways to go racing. A bit of investment upfront for the kart, equipment and trailer but after that there's generally very little that goes into it. A set of tires can last you the whole season and usually the only part you can change is the gear for the transmission (big one for higher speed, small one for short, tight tracks). Don't give up yet, you're young and you've got talent!

On the topic of parity, let me know if you guys have any other feedback to give. What did you like? What didn't you like? What would you do differently or want to see changed? What kind of racing format would you like to see, several short races or a mix of short and long in the same night (I know @amarynceos wants a 5 hour enduro every night. )? Did you have many problems getting a car dialed into the targets?

As far as format goes, I'm leaning towards two weeks with the same group of cars. The first week would be 3 15 minute sprint races which we can use to fine tune our cars, and then the next week could be a 10 minute sprint followed by a 40 minute enduro with reverse grid. That would give us 3-4 chances to get our cars really on target before unleashing them into a proper enduro battle. After the enduro we move on to the next group of cars. This gives us a chance to enjoy a certain car for several races or enjoy several different cars. It can also help minimize the prep time, you'd only need to prep two cars per month but if some people have more time for prepping they can get several on target and race a different car each night or each week. I really want to keep the prep time at a minimum since too much prep could discourage people, but also leave it open enough that people can prep multiple cars if they'd like.

On the topic of days, I like the Tuesday evening slot that we used for the Ferrari's but I could move the Saturday slot to Sunday afternoon if that would help people attend. Seems like that time on Saturday has several other groups racing and, as was mentioned, by Sunday afternoon things are starting to wind down and maybe more people will have time to end their weekend with a bit of close competition. 👍

Format sounds good to me. 👍 And yes, I do like the longer races; it's no secret that I'm kind of rubbish for a few laps, it takes me a while to get a good racing rhythm going. 40 minutes still seems like a sprint format to me. ;)

As for Saturday vs Sunday, I'm easy with either. Whichever works best for the group as a whole is the one that's best.

Is this set of cars going to be the launch group?

Sounds good to me too. I have no complaints to the format at all.

I personally am better in sprint races just because I tend to loose concentration after 10 laps or so. But I also really like the extra dimension that comes from pitstops and tyre wear.

Would it be possible that for example after 6 weeks (3 sets of cars) we would have a special event with the best set of cars from the last 3... Maybe 1 hour or 1:30...

Just a thought :)

My rickity body has a hard time doing much more than 40 minutes at a time without starting to get sore. :dunce:

I don't think we'll use these cars to launch, I figure most of us are already tiring of them and I really don't plan on mixing FF's and FR's very often (but it was good for testing). When we present this to the general public I want to start simple, so I'll do something more broad like European FR's. If you guys want to have one more go with these cars this weekend we can, I won't have the full thing ready to go that soon so Sunday should be open.

no complaints from me here , as long as it fits in my schedule ( damn timezone + real life )
I'm trying to join any race because everything you've hosted @BrandonW77 and everything you've @the usual grid joined , was great so far , although I had to stay up pretty long sometimes and beeing f..... up at work on the next day :D
totally worth it and the reason I boot my Ps3 and especially GT6

I've been very satisfied with the format and agree that 2 weeks of racing in the same car (set), is worthwhile to get them dialed in properly for the Final event.

Sundays are probably better for me, as for Saturdays there always seems to be something going on. With Sunday the weekend activity has settled which leaves me free to race :) though this is not say I couldnt make Saturdays.

The Toyota 86 Racing has done me proud, and it will be a shame to see it move aside for something else, are you trying to keep the car selections at the premium level so that we can run the Race numbers, or are you not too concerned with that aspect going forward?
Obviously if we do, it limits the car choice for each themed event! This could be seen as either good or bad.

With regards to track selection, i'd quite like to see some of the lesser used tracks, as there does seem to have been a run of similar tracks for as long as i can remember...
For instance, I can't recall ever running an online race at Ascari! Just a thought though, as we would want to keep the interest going, so picking tracks that are less favorable may hinder this.

Double post as cannot edit last one.

As some further food for thought, we have the possibility of an interesting update which may change the landscape quite a bit!!!

Maybe, just maybe the next update will allow us to add numbers to standards. Remeber, in early GT5 we were not able to change wheels for standards cars. I'm thinking (I hope) they'll add that feature to the standards. I dont see why not? Besides it will be a new (easy) feature to add in to make most of us happy for a little while.

And 500pp would be a good start.

I don't think so ace. I read the news in the site, and kazunori said that major features that we have waiting for such as track creator, and B-spec mode would be coming to the game soon. I don't think standards are going to get number plates ever. Plus there are far more standard cars in the game.

Also, if we were to only use premium cars so we could put racing plates on them, there would be some classes of cars we wouldn't really be able to do. An example would be classic Japanese cars. There's so many of them but I don't think there are any premium Japanese classics. Which is a shame because I believe the sheer variety of Japanese classics, gives lots of options and they are some of my favorite cars to drive.

I sincerely hope there will be classic Japanese premium cars in gt7.

I'd like to do all premiums but as daddyOh pointed out it could really cripple us. It is a shame we can't put numbers on standards and I tend to think we won't ever be able to either. So I guess to begin with we'll allow standards and premiums.

@hobbsy have you ever driven Ascari? Specifically, the first chicane? :odd:

Yeah its easy... right then left! Simples. :sly:

I personally would like to see all Premiums, as I really like the look of the Racing number on the cars, plus it gives us identity.

Edit: Admittedly there are some nice looking standards out there though :D

In pretty sure there's at least one point where you go backwards. :dunce: I've never done a race there because of that chicane, I kinda like the rest of the track (except a blind left-hander over crest towards the end of the track).

I think parts of it feel like a combination of Road America and VIR and some of the sections/turns I really like. I just can't see anything good coming from that first chicane though, even if I allow everyone to cut the hell out of it it's still difficult to get through. :nervous:

We did Ascari in Zero Cup. The chicanes were ok. There was a Seasonal at Ascari about the same time and I used it to get some practice. The paved areas are track so it is just a "bus stop" in disguise as a chicane really...

For me the issue was same as in Silverstone. There are just too many similar turns and I tend to get confused which part of track I am at. The boring unchanging scenery does not help :yuck:

And then there is the blind turn which is fun the one time of hundred when you think you got the apex right...

All in all I need loads of more practice there...

I am hoping the update will bring major upgrade to servers and online racing stability. Maybe a new online setting... limited tuning, please :P

Numbers can wait in my opinion.

I would be thrilled if we get the option to put numbers on all cars, it would really transform the look/feel of what we do. I'm going to have to think about whether to use them or not, it's kind of an all or nothing thing I guess. I've always wanted the limited tuning option too, but with parity it wouldn't have much use so I'm not too concerned about it for now. I don't have any expectations for the next two days but it would be nice if we get something new and useful.

Here are my photo contributions from Sunday's races. :P

I must be a strange one, because I really enjoy the challenge of Ascari and the streets of Willow, both are tracks that don't see great reviews on due to their perceived Dullness! Cape ring (not the full one with the loop) and Matterhorn I enjoy too.

I bet I'm gonna hate Zahara though!

In certain cars, I like Streets of Willow. I'm not one that cares too much about back ground scenery, it's nice when there's pretty trees and such but not necessary.

Besides one version (North, I think), I hate Cape Ring. It has the potential to be such a good track but the jump and the loop completely ruin it. I tend to dislike most "original" circuits because most of them are crap for racing and have few-to-no passing zones which leads to poor racing. Some are nice to drive on but I have a hard time doing competitive racing on a lot of them (I'm looking at you Trial Mountain. :odd: )
