How does Supercar Challenge measure up against Ferrari: The Race Experience? As I gather Supercar Challenge has more in common with the original Trofeo Pirelli game, which FTRE improved on somewhat?

Might see if I can pick up Supercar Challenge cheap, as I like the cars they included, and I like FTRE a lot.

If you race online it's ok. Problem is there's rarely anyone offline.

If you race offline be prepared for the AI to smash into each other on the first corner of every race, every time. Pretty much making the offline redundant.

There you have it.

Like another poster, I submitted a complaint to System3 about wheel support being borked. I received a similar, but a little more hopeful response from a Chandra Nair:

Hi there. Happy New Year to you.
Thanks for your email and I'm sorry about the problems you're having.

Just so you know, System 3 only publishes this game in Europe. The
publisher of this game in the US is Eutechnyx itself so really you need to
speak to them.
However, I can help you so of course I will! :)

The game is supposed to work properly with all Thrustmaster and Logitech
wheels, however a recent patch to the European version (that was designed
to improve a few things) managed to completely mess up the wheel support
on certain wheels.
Both ourselves and Sony still can't figure out why this has happened
(patches are tested by Sony before they are released), however as soon as
we can resolve it we will.
Until them I'm afraid players are limited to the standard controller.

Please accept our apologies. Eutechnyx are trying to fix the problem.

Best wishes,

Chandra

I bet chandra is hot.

Chandra is a man

or maybe you knew that?

After feeling like playing the game again I went to the options put reverse shift option on and voila I can change gears again and its not reverse shifting like you would expect... lololol go figure...

That doesn't work for me! Is there anything else you are doing? At what point do you connect your wheel?

Well I also erased the install... downloaded again, installed, went to options but they where pretty much the same... changed to invert shifting and it worked. I play with a DFGT and it is always connected (its the only controller I connect except when I do liveries.

Ok thanks. I also use DFGT. Its ridiculous this issue isn't sorted properly by now.

It isnt sorted and it wont be according to Chandra (and he is in fact a man) because of Sony according to him :dunce: like I would believe that....

uninstall the game
download it again
install
DONT do the update!

... i think
got the game yesterday, same issue
my neighbour has it too without patch and it works

All patches have to go through Sony or Microsoft so I can beleive it to some degree.

The problem is the version offered for download is the patched version (1.21). At least it's that way for the one offered through the North American store. In other words, you can't refuse the patch because it's not offered. The game is already patched.

Normally you can find game updates in the Game Data file, but there isn't any there for FTRE. The game itself says it's version 1.21.

Obviously by now we all know they aren't going to fix it. I've given up hope, and am a little bitter about wasting my money. However, I did like enough of what I saw to buy Ferrari Challenge. It works great with my wheel. After the patch, too. I'm not sure what improvements FTRE is supposed to have over FC, be it more cars and tracks or whatever, but I do know it isn't worth a damn to me without wheel support.

Just a heads up if you like this game Supercar challenge is on PSN for 7.99 euros and its all working properly - replays, wheel support, etc... and has the same ferraris plus a few other supercars. Same tracks, and looks more polished all around... the AI is as bad as the other one unfortunatly... But IMO this game is much better.

I think is much better to wait for Absolute Supercars

Soon should be available on psn, its exactly the same as Supercar Challenge but with some updates. 👍

I would be interested if they fixed the AI... I dont notice any frame rate drops on this version of SCC... I did on the disc copy I had (but sold in 2010) and the AI was even worse (didnt have broadband internet at home at the time only mobile and couldnt patch the game)

EDIT: I dont think they will release absolute supercars... I think they where going to rebadge SCC and release it (like the did with Ferrari race experience - FC with DLC) but probably due to licensing issues (having to get al the licensing again to release a «new game») and decided to do the right thing and release SCC in its turn because ASC was to be released in december and SCC was release in december (on the PSN)

Official statement from game developer on their facebook page is that they
"still working with Sony to get Absolute SuperCars released onto the PlayStation Store"

One thing i don't want to happen is if ASC will hit psn store in the same time as Test Drive: Ferrari will be available in game stores

Ive seen a few trailers on youtube and it looks exactly the same as SCC (liverys, menus, exact same number of cars 44 - they could at least put in the 458 italia the only car thats missing on SCC from FRE) so I really think its a scam (rebrand the same game and sell it on PSN to try and makes some more buck without any work) unless someone can enlighten my on what upgrades the game got (couldnt find any info)

EDIT: Ive been to their forums and it seems that Absolute Supercars is infact Supercar Challenge but the US release...

That's exactly right, it's the same game with some up to date updates like better game engine and wheel support

Source? wheel support is just fine in SCC and what do you mean by better game engine? Ive seen the youtube videos of ASC and it looks exactly the same (actually it looks worse on youtube).

Do I dare take another chance? I would have gone for Supercar Challenge in the first place over Ferrari The Race experience if it had been offered here in the States. Now that it is, can I trust they didn't bork it for wheels here like they did for FTRE? I wasted money once. Well, that's not exactly fair since I can play FTRE just fine with a pad, but wheel use is where it's at for me.

Guess I can trade my Ferrari Challenge disc for a PSN card and find out. Hate to be suckered again though.

No need for me to bother. I checked every tab and menu selection in the store and all I found were some videos. No option to buy and download the game itself. Nothing under PS3 games nor PSN games. I found the videos in the All Titles section. Strange they tease with videos, but don't offer the game.

I downloaded FTRE last night and enjoyed what I played. Having the under-appreciated 348 is a major plus, as is the lovely 250 LM. Enjoyed learning the handling and even redlining and hearing the valves going off like rifle fire is fun. For £12 it's worth it for me.

Well if you like it then Super Car Challenge is also worth playing. The same game engine, more cars not just Ferrari. It's basically continuation.

I've played them all and i very much enjoyed my time with those games.

They are nice games, the handling takes some getting used to and if you use chase cam (guilty, don't hate me) the camera doesn't turn with the car IIRC, which feels odd like the tail is stepping out, but they are fun, offer lots of cool cars and the tracks are neat. Monza arguably looks better than it does in GT5.

Be careful which game you get though as there have been 3 iterations of the Ferrari game now, the oldest being Trofeo Pirelli, and confusingly the PS store sold two of them at one point, if not all three. Supercar Challenge on the other hand I picked up from eBay for just a few pounds.

Now i'm waiting for Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends to significantly drop in price, though I think i'll still be playing Forza 4 til GT6 drops =)

I got the slightly more expensive FTRE after having to do research to find the difference between them all.

I'm interested in TD:F as long as I can find it cheaply.

Word of warning there. Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends is based on Shift 1 game engine and has almost exactly the same feeling. Far from Ferrari Race Experience, Trofeo Pirelli, Supercar Challenge.

It's closer to arcade racer than Simulation like you have in Supercar Challenge.

Question.

Does The Race Experience give you a seperate list of trophies from the original Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli?
