Is anyone still playing this game ? I would like to know if online works OK, and If you can add AI on line. Because with SCC, you can't and It is something I really miss.

No, I haven't got It yet. Waiting for Christmas. I really like Supercar challenge and looking for a similar game which is still being played on line, as SCC lobbies are not very crowdy, If they exist. And It is a nice price.

Does anybody know if they finally managed to get rid of the steering dead zone (with an FFB wheel) from "Trofeo Pirelli" in this release?

Can't really say I notice a deadzone, than again I havent played the original game. I have a G25, and this game plays like supercar challenge, which is good.

^ Thanks for the reply. It's still not conclusive though.

I've searched around the net. Some say that FTRE and SCC have bothersome dead zones, some say they have no dead zones. I'm confused  It should be possible to determine this 100%. Anyone care to fire up the game and do an actual check? If not I may have to do a stunt and just buy the download to check for myself.

Since I have the original FC, and it (the PAL version) will never get the that last patch, I thought maybe getting FTRE will tide me over until Shift 2 or some other interesting sports car racing sim/game arrives :)

You don't have GT5 ?
Mind you, I have GT5, but FTRE, SCC and WRC get more playtime. If you have the chance, try SCC. I will fire up FTRE tonight and try the dead zone. What wheel do you use ?

It would be great if you can check if there's a dead zone! I use a G25. While you're at it perhaps you can also see what the wheel/FFB options are? 👍

I do have GT5, but the race events aren't currently too inspiring. Few thing are better than racing events with matched Ferraris, so maybe I'll revisit this game for a while :D

I will check wheel/FFB options. I understand you completely, for the same reason I keep playing those other games, and don't tell any further, but actually think physics of FTRE/SCC are better than GT5.

Checked It yesterday. With a G25, turning the wheel 1 mm, also turns the wheel on screen, so there is hardly any dead zone, I would say no dead zone. Options; If you go to controller set up your G25 is pictured with the function of every button displayed. There are a few configurations available. FFB AND Pedal sensitivity are adjustable. I have FFB and sensitivity on medium and feels fine. Even though I have SCC, I still think the 15 euro was worth It. There are some flaws (sometimes loses sound, replay of only one lap), but for that money a great game.

I have to agree that the racing is more balanced than in GT5. Great price for a good game.

I have done only about 10 races or so, so far, with a 430 challenge.I can only compare with SCC and must say FTRE's AI is better/is more racing you than in SCC. Crashes in the first corner occur, but nothing like in SCC. Can't compare to the original FC as I have never owned It.

Thanks a lot, Minardi! :)

And now that I'm ready to buy it, guess what happened... I entered the "loyalty redeem code" since I have FCTP. Then the game (FTRE) disappeared from the Playstation Store. According to a mail from System 3 this can happen and the game may reappear :banghead:

I remember the physics and FFB as being quite satisfying, making the driving very "physical" as it were. And the races themselves were really exciting.

If it wasn't for the dead zone issue, which is very critical for me since I can't drive properly with it, I'd be completely into FC. So with that solved I'm ready to go again! Well, almost, see previous posting....

Also they say that the G27?has some compatiblity?
What features are missing guys, anyone know?

As mentioned in my previous posting Ferrari The Race Experience disappeared from the PS Store upon entering the loyalty redeem code. Now it turns out that it can be found by using the search function. That is, there are various matches, one of which is presumably the actual game, but at a higher price than before! This PS Store item is now in limbo.

So if you want FTRE, do not be tempted to use any redeem codes for it, lest the game becomes unavailable or increases in price...

I remember seeing the demo, the loyalty version and the 'normal' version, which was Euro 14,99 I think. Found It by searching on 'Ferrari'.

Sorry Spagetti, don't know what you miss with the G27.

Ah it's manual shift that doesn't work. You get a semi shift. Car will change down automatically with a hard press of the brakes. Useing paddles BTW.

You can over ride this by pressing the paddles themselves which will force the gears but pure manual won't work.

Shifter is a no go either.

Oke, that was when standing still. At the straight after Eau Rouge there is a little deadzone, meaning on top speed. But It was because I remembered this thread that I noticed IT, otherwise I wouldn't have known. But It is so little, It doesn't influence my driving. Unlocked Spa yesterday, racing on that track with matched ferrari's is awesome.

I wish I knew this was Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli. I bought it thinking it was a new game, but its just Challenge with a few new cars. :-\

The PSN download has been reduced on the EU PSN Store from £11.99/€14.99 to £5.49/€6.99 until 27th April.

Sounds like a good deal for that amount! I was holding off buying it as I already own FC, but at that price will have to bite...

I don't have FC so for me It really was a new game although I have Supercar Challenge. I play It once in a while, the fact that It is on your hard disk makes It for me a game to quickly start up and do a race after a regular race night. And for 6,99 you can't go wrong. The 430 challenge just feels so good in this game.

Downloading at the moment
:)
Nice, If you want you can add my PSN, I haven't had a chance to play this online so have no clue If the online part is good (although It looks very similar to SCC-which is good), rooms are always empty !

I've added you un psn ;) we'll try a couple of races in the next days, how is the manual gear? Does it differ from car to car? I mean, some new models could have semi-auto as in real life? I have a DFGT by the way.

To be honest, I don't know yet. I only have one car, the 430 challenge which I started my career with. If online is like SCC, than you can try any car on any circuit. I will add you on PSN, although I won't be playing a lot the next 2 weeks. By the way, I like the AI in this game. Better than SCC. PS I have a G25.

Are the cars expensive in this game too? :D Looking forward to play it now, the download it's 51% atm, in the next days I'll compare with FTRE with other racing games..
