You get a decent amount of money to start with and pick a nice car, but the career has a different approach, I choose a career in a 430 challenge class, but you can also pick a classic. If you start a career It works with points like in a championship, therefore you stick with It until the championship is finished. Of course you can do the quick time attack or race, but personnally haven't tried that out a lot, too many games to choose from these days, and SCC is one of them I still try to make some progress in. So FTRE I just play for career mode, slow but steady progress. The game has It's flaws (sometimes the sound drops, or screen freezes for a sec) but that is really no issue once you felt (and heard) your ferrari :) have fun, looking forward to your views. Remember, It was only 6,99 !

So this is my little review:

PROS
- The physics and the FFB are intersting, progressive and it feels right, probably the best on PS3. the suspensions are smother than GT5. With the race car models the feeling is kinda "Pc sim-ish" which is good. 92/100
- The AI fight with you for the position, they use defensive lines, they try to overtake you if you are not pushing to the limits. Basically they are much more consistent than GT5. 86/100
- The engine and the car sounds good (turn off the music here) 87/000
- Livery Editor: you need to get used but it's a nice feature, you can paint every single part of the car. 84/100 ( PD where are you at? )
- Rain effect works particularly well in this game.
- Unbeatable price 100/100
- It looks like you don't need to grind as in PD's game to unlock the best cars, anyway it's all about one make races here, so everything is more even, you can't kill the competition with tuning and you can choose 4 difficoultly levels.
- You can use manual, auto or semi auto gears for every cars, you are not forced to use semi auto, at least not with a DFGT.

CONS
- The graphic is not very detailed, there are some popups and casual frame drops, (nothing that ruin the game anyway) 72/100 Yep, GT5's frame rate is the best on consoles so far.
- a little bug with the DFGT wheel, I can't cange the view pressing "select", I have to disconnect the wheel, change the view with the pad and then connect the wheel again, (at least it save my last view so I don't need to do it everytime) my advice is to go for hood cam or dashboard view. The replay doesn't work at all 36/100 (anyway.. 7€)
- Menu music is a bit annoying (who cares just turn it off)
- Visual damges only (I try to race clean, so I really don't care about it)

Comment:
So basically System3 just need to work on the overall level of details and solve some minor bugs, but the game is very playable, if they'll improve the graphics keeping all the good things the game already have this could be at least a 90/100 racing game. My vote not considering Trofeo Pirelli is a 79/100 for now. If you want a good FFB racing game at very low price and you don't own the previous games, it seems you are in the right place. (Sorry for my english)

I think thats your wheel, cause i never had/have that problem

Adding to the above, there is slight mechanical damage for larger impacts. The car will accelerate slower and pull to one side if you bin it into a barrier.

Was going to bump this because of the new price, it's really a pretty good game and at GBP5.49, excellent value, but wondering now if they extended the offer as I think the price was dropped just before the outage. Will check but even at 11.99 it's really a good, solid race game.

Oh yeah and Monza is better than in GT5, IMHO anyway :)

Still waiting for it over here in the USA... That, Superstars V8 Next Challenge and WRC 2010...

Great game to play , it isn't a patch on GT5 , but one huge problem with it.......

The online mode is dead. You struggle to find anyone playing in any car at any time of the day.
That's a shame. But the livery editor is awesome , so many different ways tio sticker up your car. :)

Just don't expect packed lobbys online.

FYI if anyone is interested, this was released on the US PSN today for $14.99.

I noticed that. I'm definitely interested, but I'm holding off. $15 is too much for me.

I did pick up Superstars V8 Racing though for $2.25 (for PS+, 7.50 for non). Man that was a steal!!

Yes. I wish GT5 could implement a similar livery editor. So simple.

For the price it goes for sale, it is a great game, the A.I is conpetitive, the physics are really good, The only downfall is the graphics(ain't too bad), and most of the tracks are pretty unrealiatic.

Same here with my G27. I was kind of hopeful when I saw better wheel support as part of the update since the paddle shifters didn't work in manual mode, only in semi-automatic. But now it's even worse, the wheel is no longer recognized and the paddle shifters don't work at all.

DFGT here and I downloaded the patch... and how stupid can you get... I cant shift either... and I cant seem to find any way to erase the patch...

And system 3 doesnt seem to have customer support...

What do you REALLY expect from eutechnyx. Nascar the game is truly an epic fail. Should have seen it coming with the reviews from this. I feel stoopid(on purpose) for falling into the eutechnyx trap myself with Nascar the Game.

Honestly, they need a total overhaul if they think they can compete in this market. They say they are working toward making NTG right, but if this is the case for a game over 1 year old, I give up.

Sadly, they say they are full steam ahead with another Nascar title. Well, it will be another 3 years til we see a half decent Nascar game out there now. Sorry for spreading Nascar in this thread, but it's relative to the games dev. i know some have a grudge/beef with Nascar/napcar, just wanted to point this out.

Which now makes total sense. UGH!

eutechnyx is not responsible for this game... system 3 took their engine from previous games and developed this one... if you go to eutechnyx forum you can read there that they are not responsible for the game

Fair point then. BUT, they still put their name on it................ And as for future games from them, it looks VERY bleak that they will be anywhere near acceptable......

Ive got a response to an email I sent to system 3 about the issue (in less than 24 hours) and they said - «Hi there. Thanks for your email and sorry about the problems you're having.

The patch was intended to fix the wheel support and it has been tested by
Sony and confirmed to do that so I don't understand what has gone wrong.
We are looking into it as you are not the first to have told us this
recently.

Best wishes,»

HAHAHA, funny thing is, when NTG11 was released. They coded FFb wheels in wrong, and the game, if the user was not careful, broke your wheel. It made this nasty a$$ grinding noise, then would simply break.

They did patch it, and finally the wheels work, but you can't paddle shift with Fanatec wheels still.

Eutechnyx is literally the laughing stock of online racing games currently, imho. This is ridiculous, and they expect auto club revolution to rock. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I can take this to the bank.

Fairly certain Eutechnyx has nothing to do with Ferrari The Race Experience other than making the original game it was based on.

But I do agree they fail miserably in the quality control dept.

True, they did not have MUCH to do with it, but as for patching and working on it, it's theirs.

And yes, terrible QC, they really do not deserve to make games. Look into their game record, nothing notable really...........or if it was, it was noted as being terrible.

I can confirm that shifting does not work on the paddle shifters on my Fanatec wheel. (Seeing as the Fanatec in compatibility mode works on the PS3 like any other wheel, I suspect people trying to use other wheels will have the same problem).

Got Supercar Challenge the other way. It´s so close but the feel I was running at 20 fps was the killer. The steering I could get somewhat used to and oboy how much more sim this is then Forza 4 demo.

What I really loved about it though that it wasn´t scared to be challenging. In Forza you can dominate driving like an asshat here you get totally owned and you really have to be skilled to do reasonable lap times.

Sure graphics are a bit on the dull side but that would been okay if it would have meant it could run smooth at about 60 fps with 16 cars on track.

A bit to close to the PC simulations perhaps which I would rather run if the career can´t get me going. Forza 2 seem to have made me incompatible with the later career attempts :(

How does Supercar Challenge measure up against Ferrari: The Race Experience? As I gather Supercar Challenge has more in common with the original Trofeo Pirelli game, which FTRE improved on somewhat?

Might see if I can pick up Supercar Challenge cheap, as I like the cars they included, and I like FTRE a lot.

On another note, does anyone use chase cam, and find it weird switching from GT5 to FTRE? In Ferrari, the chase cam is fixed and when you steer you see the car turn but the cam remains in the same place, whereas in GT5 the cam follows the car more closely, fixed to the car rather than the track.

I wish I had seen this before I dl'd the game from the U.S PSN Store yesterday. My DFGT will steer and the pedals work, but I'm locked into in car view and can't shift.

I sent System3 my own complaint, but as it has been a few months now since they were made aware of the problem, I guess it's hopeless. The patch has been incorporated into the U.S. version. I deleted and redl'd just to make sure.

$15 bucks wasted. Yes, I could use the pad, but it would be so much better with the wheel. :grumpy:
