Best. race. ever. (for the moment ); amazing race, and the fact that Giorgio won put the cherry on the top :gtpflag:

SIAMO PRONTI ALLA MORTE E L'ITALIA CHIAMO', SI' ! Italian pride all the way  Also congratulations to all the others, especially Salazar who tonight made Portugal proud too :mischievous:

Nah, had to be something else. The rankings went;

12
41
18
37
13
47
11
27
19

That's why. Don't dismiss certain combinations until you've seen and/or tried them, everyone. You might miss out on something fantastic like that race.

Was it random like for car choice?

I like these kinds of messy races because its a big scuffle between all the drivers grabbing on for anything they can.

Very fun racing. I really liked seeing Carlos Salazar (pcm_stj) finishing 2nd and picking up his ticket to the world finals. Especially after getting punted and a penalty. I also liked seeing Jomas getting through. Girogio also got into the world finals in what I consider a bit of a messy Gr.B race but fair, especially after the incident in the first race around La Croix.

3 french, 2 british, 1 german, 1 portuguese, 1 italian, 1 hungarian, and 1 spanish from Europe go to the WF.

People who drove the repechage races at least had double the fun. :D

ps: the Quattro looked way too slow. Poor of those who chose it. ^^

That's why my favorite Daily was Gr. B at Streets of Willow Springs.

Awesome racing. Thanks everyone for the spectacle. Gonna be hard to swallow the USGP after that show.

There's absolutely 0 people in favor of a GrB race based on the current game's BoP. Good that they seemed to have fixed it tho.

I'm actually certain they used a different grid method for the 2 races now I look back on it

Wow, congrats to the finalists, what crazy races!

Can't imagine the level of the races on the word final event, because here and in asia, and likely in the americas also, actually the strongest names are going there. Of course it would have been better when the repeache race- start positions would've been determinet also by qualifying.

I guess, it was part of some plan for the next year to let the players hold on to every FIA race/ season, because it appears you can't know that if a result in a season can be important for a live event.

The slipstream was way too strong imo in the Repechage races, there's having close racing, but then there's also making it look completely artificial..

Although I really enjoyed watching today's event, I still think it would receive a bigger audience if more drivers of the same nationality could enter. Perhaps allow more people to participate in the live event and have 16 drivers in each race before the 'knockout stages.'

Nah, UK and France just need a National Final I feel, even if its hosted Online to keep costs down, far too much talent in these 2 countries to only give 3 people a spotlight.

That would be great for the people invited but I doubt it would add more to the stream. Unless they have 2 or 3 camera views that you can chose from, there's no point in having so many people IMO. Not to mention the costs of having more people invited (flights, hotels, meals, venue size, etc), only to send most of them back anyway.

If this grows into a big thing, with sponsors and stuff, maybe they can have more people there. Until then, I don't think they'll chance the format.

Or that, yes.
After France hosting a series of GT events, I'm very surprised UK hasn't got a similar thing right now, particularly because PD regularly visit Goodwood.

They could probably keep costs down in a number of ways. Some guys have received the same uniform three times (suppose this is difficult to find a solution for), hotels I have heard are pretty luxurious. Perhaps not pay for all flights for regional finals, but subsidise.

I can imagine this event getting a lot more attention next year. 2018 for GT has been more of a 'wait and see' period

That's sacrificing quality in favour of quantity.

I don't think having more people there would add much tbh (and I'm saying this as someone who could be there).

I'd prefer watching longer races with the people already attending. :)

So you want to now force qualifying drivers to partially pay to attend the events?

Well you can often get bargain flights in Europe. They could locate finals in capital cities/places which are easy to get to. Consequently, there'll be bigger crowds and would be much easier to transport goods.

I suppose so, but the quality in the races is already restricted because there are plenty of drivers who could've easily got into top 3 in their country

"Congratulations on your result in the FIA Championship, however we aren't gonna fully cover the cost of your travel from Australia to Tokyo in one weeks time"

That would benefit the people closer to the venue while some people who are from smaller countries could refuse going to the events for not getting a flight within PD's (and their own) budget. Also, PD confirms who's going way to late to get cheap flights anyway.

That's what I'm saying also, by subsidizing.
For example: Driver 1 lives in Iceland. How much does he have to pay for his flight to London? Ok, it's expensive, let's pay for 90% of it as it'll be expensive.
Driver 2 is from Amsterdam. He can get there for £60 return. Well, does he really need subsidizing that much?
Probably complicated, but I do think there are too many skilled drivers not in Madrid today

Your obsession with adding an extra financial barrier is maddening. People shouldn't have to pay at all when invited to these events because of their skill.

You're missing the point. I'm not saying that they can't go to the event because they are too far away. Just help them out if need be.

I don't think the travel or dress- costs of the invited players are the ones what falls into weight much.

I guess there are costs in the backround which we aren't aware of. The rental of the location, the several crews, the technical equipment with all of their logistics, the moderators/ commentors, the development of the special game version with all its different menues/ functions, ... and so on.
