Well, does he really need subsidizing that much?

This is the main point.

If PD start meddling with player's personal budgets, some top players won't care about the live events (especially the younger ones). And PD (and people watching) are the ones who lose in the end.

They are helped out....they are helped out by having their travel fully paid for.

Talking about stating the obvious...

True, to a certain extent. I just think they could invite even more skilled drivers to the event somehow.
Perhaps have national finals first?

Bit late on this one, but what a couple of fantastic repechage races.

Overall decent event too, I like that new Tom guy (from MotoGP?) and commentary is top-notch as usual.

Shame about the flaky, trippy stream issue early on, but can't wait for tomorrow.

The fact everyone with a PS4 and a copy of GT Sport(with PS Plus of course) has a chance to go to live events is what makes the FIA Championships work so well, everyone has the same opportunity to go to these events,it's the democratization of racing, putting cost barriers won't help the players.

Can someone wake the stewards up please

Great Race though, the new GrB BoP looks great
I believe portugese guy was smashed first, waiting for the penalty on Benito, nothing happens. Then Giorgio takes lead, me 2nd but Kevin decides to go nuts, again like nothing happened. 3rd time was my turn I guess, got pushed of to the sand in turn3 going outside and fighting for the lead(friends tell me you couldnt see it on livestream) , was left with no space to go, again nothing happened once again. Stopped trying after that one and just cruised around until finish. GG

But I blame myself completely, we had qualy for both races but I messed up both of them, for race 1 our qualy was 1lap shot pretty much unfortunately.

Anyway, nice experience to go through definitely, hotel, hospitality, food and hanging out with other guys and PD crew was cool, racing.....not really. Some of the top15 guys were too obsessed to get that top2, by any means necessary, didn't expect anything else though.

I feel ya bud, I was punted around pretty much the entire Nurburgring World Tour and the stewards missed the 3 (I think it was 3) times that I got murdered in the semi-final, good to hear they are implementing the qualifying though

You are still at the Worlds with Dodge though right?

This has been a poorly work from the stewards overall, way worse than previous. It's almost like they were afraid to punish or just didn't care. It was intense and fun to see bu i can imagine how stressing would being the racer himself in that situation.

I definitely saw a lot of really crap driving in those that the stewards totally ignored. People shoving the car up the inside pushing people wide and driving off as if nothing happened. If PD don't punish it you're going to get more of it because it's easy to win when you just push people out the way, and the more you get the more of an unwatchable joke the racing becomes.

This and the double accounting needs to start getting properly punished, or 2019 is going to be hell if people think they can get away with it.

"Congratulations on your result in the FIA Championship, however we aren't gonna fully cover the cost of your travel from Australia to Tokyo in one weeks time"
"Please deposit 200USD to this offshore account so we can organise your fully funded trip"
Not just that but basically all food/drink over a number of nights as well. Kaz has been known to order a McDonalds for everyone
Man I could've gone for some McDonalds in Tokyo but had to settle for buffet breakfast and dinner at the hotel every day. Eventually had maccas at the airport on the way home.

Event was too early for me and so I just finished watching all the races. Gutted that there are only so many spots available because there are drivers that clearly have the talent to compete and put on a good show. I jumped from my seat when @Jomas got the last spot in for Finals; makes up for missing the cut with the Jag.

The driving standards and the stewarding was actually in line with what I was expecting. Was it rather aggressive and gloves off with little outside intervention? Yes, but the impression I'm getting is that the highest priority about these events is making it exciting for the viewing audience. They certainly accomplished that goal but it was admittedly at the expense of a completely fair and clean environment.

It will discourage people if steward efficiency varies wildly from each event. If it was like Austria you'd see more penalties or such with these current races.

I like the comments on livechat that said the stewards went full BTCC,i saw lots of warnings and few penalties,it makes for exciting races to watch but i agree it hurts the fair race enviroment.Finding the balance between exciting but fair bump races and total carnage must be hard as hell.

You have to take into account the type of vehicles used.

For Gr.B, it’s like rallycross, you have to accept contact, leaning on etc. Obviously brake testing or nudging someone off is completely out of the question.

Gr.3 & Gr.4 you’d expect cleaner racing. But mild contact is still acceptable.

Gr.1 & single-seaters I’d expect zero tolerance for contact.

Tom isn't that new:lol:

Repechage races were so close this time with multiple cars going side by side over many corners lap after lap. Some great battles.

2 British drivers in the world final, and some great driving from everyone, it was fun to watch, thanks! Good luck for tomorrow.

2 British drivers in the world final

That figure is now actually 8, which is mental considering how competitive Europe is, it was possible for any European country to have 19 guys in the World Final (3 guys from Nations, and 16 individual guys all being on top of the 16 advancing Manufacturers in Europe) and the fact we managed almost half of that as a country is kinda insane :D

As far as I'm aware, the UKs World Final lineup looks like this:

GTP_Aderrrm (Nations Finalist)
GTA_Tidgney (Nations Finalist)
RC_Zoky88 (Top EMEA Dodge)
JAdams2010 (Top EMEA Mitsubishi)
force_ewerby (Top EMEA Mercedes)
mthomas_95 (Top EMEA Ferrari)
cubertom (Top EMEA Aston)
and meeeeeeeee (Top EMEA Chevrolet)

Some other completely random thoughts:

France really got brutalised by the Nations Country Limit just as bad as we did, in terms of having like 5 extra drivers that absolutely could've hung in that Regional Final but got screwed out of it

Interesting that no Brits managed to become World Finalists in both Nations and Manufacturers at the same time (The Pug dream didn't live, rip), in fact the only 2 guys in Europe that managed to pull that off were Lightning and Coque, so extremely well played to those 2.

Every single Brit that has ever been invited to a World Tour event in the past is now a World Finalist, R E U N I O N

I really feel for Manurodry, despite being at the front end all final season long he got absolutely robbed in that Repechage race, and now somehow went from being a favourite to not making it at all in either Nations or Manufacturers :nervous:

Hey guys
