I asked to one of the World Finalists (specifically, @mclarenLB's Manufacturers teammate) about the hotel, but it looks like that Monte Carlo Bay Hotel is the venue for the World Final.
I'm assuming it's the same watch that akagi won in Tokyo, I was able to take a pic of it.Anyone have a photo of Fraga's Tag Heuer watch he won?
I'd be screwed if I was in the Vegas final. I would've played poker all night.Regarding the racing, it was fairly clean. Things happen though since these guys had quite a bit on the line. They raced hard, took risks, and pushed themselves to eke out the win. Couple that with the fact some of these guys had never been out of their home country or even been on an airplane before, and there were a ton of nerves.
Also, Vegas is the least calm city in the world. Billions of lights, constant action, and the dial always at 11. It's a city with ADD and is constantly switching it up every second. It's not the best environment to focus, especially for the guys that'd never been there before.
Yes, some things were missed, but this happens in real racing all the time (and sports in general). It can't be 100% perfect all the time since humans are doing it and not computers.
We didn't get much authentic food in Tokyo. Don't get me wrong, not complaining, was well fed with expensive Hilton buffet for breakfast and dinner and what looked like standard corporate Japanese catering for lunch, but after a while got a little sick of the same food. On our free day, we finally got some ramen and takoyaki from a food court, not quite the real deal but still better than anything in Australia. After party food was quite good too.Agreed. Sony really treated everyone fantastic, especially when it came to the food.
I'm sure you remember they explained the whole "world finalist reserves" system to us in the briefing at some point before the first race, could've been the day before but can't remember exactly when. For those that don't know (and I'm assuming it's the same for the other regions), basically if a world finalist can't make the world finals then it goes to the next highest finisher (that is able to attend and didn't get a spot in a Rep race) in the race that the world finalist qualified from. In this case, assuming Simmons can't make it they looked at the Australia block race. It looks as though D Wilk can't make it. It was mentioned that he had some physical issues travelling and would be unlikely to accept the world final spot if Simmons couldn't attend. Next in line were Holland and A Wilk but they qualified through Rep B so De Jesus gets to go. Those are the rules to and made sense because it is objective and it would be hard to justify which one of the other names you mentioned gets to go instead of the others.I don't get it. Simmons mentioned that he might have other commitments on November that would put him out, but I don't understand why David Wilk wouldn't be able to go. If he (and Adam for that matter) made it to Tokyo, why can't they make Monaco?
If this is true however, I'm not sure this way of choosing reserves is the best. Putting aside the subjective bad luck of ending up in Repecharge A instead of B, Bass finished 6th in his block and 5th in the repecharge. Meanwhile we have someone who finished 4th in their block and 3rd in the repecharge (blackbeauty), one who came 4th in both races (KarS), and a 3rd place finisher in the block race (sidawg), who presumably aren't in.
It should be legit, as your manufacturer is qualified for the World Finals, and you are Americas's top representative of your manufacturer. @schnick also ran into this situation, but he's all OK afterwards.Hey guys!!
I received an email yesterday from Tom Robberechts asking about my passport info for booking flights... (I had already received the classification email for the Manufacturers and filled the form). The email looked very suspicious with no logo or any other thing demonstrating that it was really from PD. I answered the email with the info requested and got a thank you message from Tom 3 minutes later. Also I sent the same requested info to his PD email that was on the bottom of the message.
Today when I looked again there was a notification email saying that the email for his PD email couldnt be delivered.
I would like to know if it was like this for you guys, if you guys received this kind of email requesting your passport info from a Tom Robberechts ?
He's legit. You'll probably meet him in monaco at some point.Hey guys!!

Yep agree with you it's a bit quirky but it was more a special case that 6th in our block race ended up qualifying because 2 more made it through via the repechage and 2 allegedly have declined.I am aware of the rules as they are wrote, and on closer inspection everything does check out if Simmons and Wilk pulled out. I am however pointing out that this means a 6th place finish was enough to advance to Monaco, in a competition where you originally needed top two in either race. A quirk in the reserves selection format that may need looking at next year.
Yep I found out the hard way it's legit and I should know better than to post emails like that.It should be legit, as your manufacturer is qualified for the World Finals, and you are Americas's top representative of your manufacturer. @schnick also ran into this situation, but he's all OK afterwards.
Ok so now could we discuss about the 66 world finalists without getting punched at the event if we mention a "bad" point about someone ? I mean I wanted to do a real "pros and cons" on every nations cup/manufacturer series finalist so obviously there should be some "bad" points mentionned

Tom really needs to get better at first impressions. That aside, you can rest easy; we all went through this before you and it was always legitimately Tom Robberechts and not a fake. If the information is already through, an e-ticket for the flight should follow assuming they haven't changed the process in the last month.Hey guys!!

None... for that second last post I just opened the picture from the live report separately in a new tab, copied the link, and posted it here.^ how many photos of him do you have saved on your mobile device?
We've already gotten a bit of mileage out of poor Andrew (Deafsun). They had the wrong name on his SEMA badge. Welcome, Olivier!
