Finally watched the America's event. Surprised that Nico, who's the most chilled driver ever (always found it amusing the way he can even check his phone and read messages while driving), made those mistakes. Wish him better luck for Monaco.

I guess he wanted so much to beat Igor, that he simply pushed it to far. I don't know the chronology of the test seasons earlier in the year in Americas, but as far as I remember he dominated them while Igor came later up? Not sure, but you could feel that he really really wanted to win against him.

As I wrote before, I am really excited when these monsters meet on our Lightnings, Fuvaroses, Gorgios, Lopezes and so on together with Kokobun and the other Asian superaliens. Speaking of, can't remember that Kokobun did the slightest mistake in the regional finals, did he?

However, I hope there will be a high quality and fair format of races in Monaco. I wouldn't want to switch with the stewards tbh, it will be a very tough job. The championchip is litteraly in thier hands.

Don’t think your comments during the live stream trashing everybody at the event went unnoticed, including those who were involved. Don’t play dumb and act like Perro overreacted to one little comment.

To be fair, everything mthomas said was tame compared to my relentless attack on all things Nico for primarily irrational reasons; him sharing a name with the worst character in all of fiction. That's why the name is cursed btw.

I thought it was because of a hatred of Nico Rosberg  r/whoosh

Be careful if you make a Regional Final again someone's going to screenshot everything you say on a GT Sport or Jimmy stream and start a random thread hating on you ;)

That might be part of it but for Nico and a lot of others, it was their first experience in a big flashy stage with major stakes on hand. I was but a small handful that either had been exposed to that environment before recently (myself at World Tour) or have prior real racing experience to lean upon. Second time around will be better.

I will add that Igor (IOF) is simply an outstanding driver and is capable of challenging the best of the best at Monaco. I cannot wait to see that battle unfold.
Was there any DLC hidden in this event like the last ones?
Not that I could see. I even checked the two side rigs in case there was new stuff.

Yup it’s very different from sitting in your quiet home compared to an event like that with cameras in your face, lights in your eyes, many people behind you etc.

IOF didn’t race as much, I’m sure because he’s got a real racing career but during the FIA races, Nico was perhaps even faster. And maybe because of him pushing the limits that much causes a little bit less consistency.

Also because Igor Fraga is a real racing driver, he’s fit as a fiddle. Even in a video game that does help, especially when nerves come into play!

Exactly.

You will physically react slower if you're not in good shape.
And it's hard to stay in good shape in Vegas with all the food options:

That doesn't even include the Aria buffet for breakfast. Gonna miss the coffee cake.

Well that explains why I'm still a B driver.

I think the mental strength is just as important if not more than the physical, you may not be the fastest driver but you could be the most consistent because you're calm instead of being nervous at the event and making mistakes.

One characteristic about Vegas what could've also distracted the players/ increased their nervousity isn't mentioned anywhere here:

As I wrote before, I've been in 2014 there after a job in Memphis. Me and my colleague took the opportunity and made a road trip to there after the job was done. We arrived at a Saturday night at Hotel Riviera after a1500 miles road trip taking two days.
After check in, we walked to Encore and Wynn and so on.
Now that will sound silly, but, man! Have we been flashed! Never ever saw so many so beatiful women at a one place! Honestly. Me and my friend couldn't keep our mouthes closed and asked ourselfes where the hell did we land? :D
Perhaps that effected our players also?
:lol::lol::lol:

Looks like one of the eliminated racers will join the World Finals.

Raced the bass tickler many times in dailys and fia and have to say have found him very fair where others would be less chilled. Good luck to him. Hes fast. Not sure about his recent form though lol.

I'm covering fitness in my driving school series, it's a lot more important than people realise! Although sometimes it can be hard with major tournaments going on to (That's been my problem after getting injured just before the season started in GT, it's hard to get back into it).

Just a quick question to all the Americas finalists, what specs did the Red Bull X2014 Standard have for Interlagos? I tried those given for the European finals by Kaz on his fb profile, but the times I'm getting are way too fast, about 3-4 seconds faster than Igor's 1.16.4 during quali. (⊙~⊙)

I don't know. When I was practicing at home, I was getting 1:10s.

Something like 0 Downforce, less power and more weight.

Rosberg was a genius. He knew that the Nico curse was slowly building up it's strength and was just waiting for the right moment to strike him down, so he got out of Formula 1 before the curse took it's shot. With Rosberg gone, the curse fired at Hulkenberg instead, before moving on to the entire sport by turning open wheel racers into unsightly thong cars. Yes, I'm still on about that :(.

That'll be for Renault in the Manufacturers Series. Bass finished 2nd to Mish12 in that, and with Mish12 not being able to go, Japan's lockout of Manufacturers representatives is broken. Bass was unlucky to end up in Repecharge A during the Nations regional, as his finishing time in that would've placed him 2nd in block B. Wouldn't call him a top tier driver, but he's fast and reasonably consistent.

The problem is that he says this when replying to @Tidgney's reply:

I don't get it. Simmons mentioned that he might have other commitments on November that would put him out, but I don't understand why David Wilk wouldn't be able to go. If he (and Adam for that matter) made it to Tokyo, why can't they make Monaco?

If this is true however, I'm not sure this way of choosing reserves is the best. Putting aside the subjective bad luck of ending up in Repecharge A instead of B, Bass finished 6th in his block and 5th in the repecharge. Meanwhile we have someone who finished 4th in their block and 3rd in the repecharge (blackbeauty), one who came 4th in both races (KarS), and a 3rd place finisher in the block race (sidawg), who presumably aren't in.

Well surely he is mistaken. If a Nations finalist cannot make it, they get replaced by the 3rd place finisher in the race that the player backing out qualified in. Bass came 6th in the Australia Block and 5th in the Repecharge, he's nowhere near high enough on the reserve list to realistically be in the Nations final.
Hopefully it's Manufacturers, so that Team Renault Sport becomes "Team Spanish Surnames"!

Not sure of the specs but I did drive the X2014 in Austria and watched the Finalists practice the afternoon before the live stream. Looked like it was reaching over 185 mph (300 kph) at the end of the straight so it has Group 1 speed. However, cornering speeds was more like Group 2 or even closer to Group 3. I doubt the live event version can be duplicated at home.
