Great times

Aw man, I was wondering when the flag would come out!

It was a great experience. Super cool to see so many of the drivers just hanging out, getting to know the names they’ve raced against all year. The repechage races were highlights for sure — and it’s always fun to cheer on my fellow Canucks in a sea of Americans. :D

Speaking of, Jeff’s defense in that final race was easily the pinnacle of the racing for me. To hold off a Softs car on Hards for two laps just showed the level of craft he’s capable of.

Igor was such a stand-up guy, he earned that win with a clean, pro performance. We might have an interview with him coming...

Also, special shoutout to @Wardez for being the unofficial host of the whole thing. Eddie was supportive of every driver there, and with this being the first Vegas visit for a lot of people, he offered local perspective. It was great to put a face to the name after all these years!

I’m saving more detailed thoughts for the race report, which I’m going to be typing up on the flights back home. But no matter what, I just want to say congratulations to all 30 drivers that attended. You guys rock.

:gtpflag:

Whew!

Finally getting a chance to relax with family before heading back home tomorrow. A lot to digest and knowing me, I'll forget a lot of it! I'm hoping the block and repercharge races find their way online one way or another. If not, a brief summary from my perspective:

Block Race @ Dragon Trail: Had every car on my list available to choose and went with VW Vision. Terrible decision in retrospect. I'm flat out terrible at DT because of the bus stop and the VW would go on two wheels on the curb every single time. Cost me almost half a second every lap and put me in 8th to start.

Yes, there was a wheel failure in that race and I was one of the few that was so relieved about it. Long story short, the TGT's brake pedal is something I could not get used to as I was often not applying enough pressure. Because of a stack up at the hard right before the end of S1, I ended up tapping @TRC_Stagger a few times and he spun. Felt awful about it and so I had to pay even more attention with brakes the next time. Dodge Lamb got around me but got back in front after two or three laps. Windfire went with a different strategy and so he ended up ahead of me a few times. I ended up 5th getting around @RoadBeef on the last lap. Typical DT performance.

Repercharge @ Willow: Started 5th. @RoadBeef and @Wardez were racing me harder than expected which allowed the leaders to pull a gap. They got ahead of me and I was barely keeping up. This was typical me of struggling for early lap pace but thankfully, battling up front allowed us to get back together. I remained patient until someone got on the dirt late and slid into @Wardez. I anticipated this and got the pass made (this was shown in the highlights). Unfortunately, 1st and 2nd had pulled a bit of a gap again and I had a lap and a half to catch up. I must have saved my truck because I was pulling back to them even with them not battling but I ran out of time. Just one more lap and I seriously could've taken 2nd away.

I may go into some detailed stuff later but just some random points to note about the trip:

- The person that checked me in at the hotel shared the same birthday. First time for everything.

- I had to Lyft myself and a few others literally across a street to In N Out because there was no sidewalk access. It's not getting lost, it's a misdirection.

- I had brought my PS2 and GT1-4 to play in my room for everyone. Unfortunately, they wouldn't connect to the hotel TVs and the broadcasters took the spare ones at the Marquee. The upside: Kaz signed all my stuff for me. Pic coming when I can get it set up. 👍

- Andrew's (Deafsun) SEMA badge had "Olivier" as his name.

- There was something mind blowing about seeing the Gr3 Supra concept at SEMA. You could truly appreciate the attention to detail.

- The roving robot was the star at the Vdara

- Several celebrity sightings during the week. I saw Richard Petty on my way back from the Marquee.

- They had two rigs off to the side which several of us used for time trialing. We tried helping out the pad users and whoever else sat on them.

- During rehearsals for the evening, I suddenly heard @Tidgney's name announced as winning 3rd place. I turned around and I can assure you it was definitely not him! I have video of that whole sequence and it was a funny lighthearted moment.

- Vegas can get surprisingly chilly at night. Even I was caught out by that.

- Wish we had more time to give something in return for the people behind the scenes. Granted, there were several things about this event that were not ideal but I can't say it's because of lack of effort. Maybe those going to Monaco can think of something.

I've got to say I was disappointed with this event. Maybe spoiled by the Madrid meeting's grandeur but this felt like a SEMA sideshow by comparison. Lots of people there, most with little to no interest in what's going on behind them.

...and if they're going to have stewards, try using them consistently. I'm amazed some of the incidents didn't get a second look and cruel luck for the drivers on the receiving end. Nip it in the bud early on with tough penalties and set the bar high from the outset.

Congrats to everyone who attended and very well done to the winners.

@Doodle Here's to hoping the racing gods are more kind to you at Monaco.👍

Some great racing from Doodle and Lloydz at the end of that, that's what I want to watch! Some of the other stuff was questionable, they really need to get stricter again. Although they did say at the Worlds they would be strict, so I hope that's the case! Especially as the FIA are supporting this and it needs to be clean.

Congratulations to all qualifiers and Igor did a fantastic job, see you all at the world finals :D!

After Igor winning the american regional finals, all the regional final winner will be driving for Nissan in the manufacturers cup in Monaco. New meme incoming?
Yahahaha xD

That's actually quite an insane achievement xD! Nerf incoming :D!

As someone new to GT, a game I never thought I would like, I must admit I have absolutely loved these races. The skill levels on show in all 3 are simply astounding to someone of limited ability like myself.

I hope that however the finals are planned to work, all 30 finalists are involved throughout - non of this straight out if you have a bad race one.
A 15 player B final as prelude to the final event.

Longer races, single make, with minimal tire and fuel wear. These guys are the best drivers in the game, let us admire their driving.

Good luck to all 30.

I did suggest something to them with some feedback which I preferred over the current format which was that each group of heats has 3 races and builds points so that 1 bad race doesn't ruin it. So top 3 from each of the heats makes it then the highest scoring 4th place to get your final top 10. I'd much prefer that over 1 bad race! Lets see what happens though :)!

Whew!

- During rehearsals for the evening, I suddenly heard @Tidgney's name announced as winning 3rd place. I turned around and I can assure you it was definitely not him! I have video of that whole sequence and it was a funny lighthearted moment.

Maybe I was secretly there :lol:. I'd love to hear and see that footage :D!

Actually speaking of footage if anyone wants to watch my race analysis, thoughts and feelings of my races at the EMEA regional finals here it is :).

Here is the Final Two Laps of the America’s regional Final with that amazing race finish with @Doodle I Can’t speak for him but we have immense respect for eachother for the time that we’ve known eachother. Even though we didn’t ever race with eachother ever since earlier this year.

My breakdown: First Race.
First race I knew I wasn’t going to do well with the slow, tire burning heavy STI. When the first race had to be restarted all of us were talking about our tire wear, @Doodle and @perrolocomcquee told me their tires were still very fresh. Around 80-85% maybe if I’m not wrong, while my Subaru at the same time at end of lap 5 was at 50%. So my race was primarily just hold on to 5th. Which I accomplished.

Second Race:
Had a decent car but have never tried driving the GTR until that night ever. So starting 5th i wasn’t in great shape. After the pits stops in got into 2nd but unfortunately caught a penalty into the dipper and dropped back to 5th again.

Last Race:
In practice myself and Igor were the same pace. And also in qualifying we were both purple on the lap time but unfortunately NicoR had an accident in front of us and that was it. So I was heading into the race confident in my pace. But starting 5th I had work to do again, got to 4th and was going for 3rd and 2nd and unfortunately Nick and I were to close and my tire touched the Grass causing me to wreck bringing me to near last place. So at this time I was thinking to myself I believe I’ve been unlucky and first two races haven’t been
I’m my favour. So finally in equal cars I wanted to prove something, so after wrecking and seeing Igor had pulled to far of a gap my goal was to get 2nd. I wasn’t going to the final to out like this, so pushed my pace as hard as I could and caught the lead group. And decided to make a strategy on my 2nd stint to go to softs and pull away from the group which had worked. 3rd stint I had to put the hards on and next lap seeing @Doodle put on softs I knew he was going to catch me so when finally when he caught me with 2laps to go I had to drive the best defensive of my life that I’ve never had to do before. Ending in probably the best finish of a race, only could of been better if it was for the Championship.
I had a blast meeting everyone and sorry for the long read haha.

The event format was something brought up. At least my understanding of it was that the three regionals were set up differently by design to test out different ideas. I only have World Tour to compare with on a personal level but I did think World Tour was better than Americas Regionals overall with some exceptions.

Congratulations @Igor Fraga honestly you flew under my radar as all I had seen was the top 24 replays but after being added to the "who to watch" giving more of the story it was obvious you were one of the heavy favourites.
Good luck to everyone in Monaco.

Yahahaha xD
I think we are still holding on to idea of GT Academy coming back and don't want to risk driving for another manufacturer :scared:.

Sorry to hurt your sensitive feelings. Touches may have looked worst than they actually were, i apologized to @GumballCGT , and that's the only thing i care. It was a very close race and with technically no downforce on the car, so it was very easy to loose grip on slow sections.
If you want to do that pointless and silly criticize, i'll highly recomend you that you keep it for yourselve.

@LLOYDZELITE69 and @Doodle ensuring the America's region maintains a small shred of credibility after that

What a climbdown from Madrid. Everything had last minute written all over it, the stewarding got even worse, the Promo was non existent and a lot of bad driving. Congrats to @Igor Fraga for schooling everyone though!

Madrid came after a 'quirky' Asia final so hopefully Monaco has the same rebound.

Surely if anyone has 'sensitive feelings' it's the one who doesn't appear to like listening to any criticism? Didn't bother me too much I wasn't the one being pushed off track I was sat comfortably at home

Bit weird taking part in an event with thousands watching and expecting them all to keep their opinions to themselves. Am I not allowed to praise the strategy call you made in Race 1 then or is that different? ;)

Why people need to use "sensitive feelings" as a form of self defense? :\
Regardless grats for everybody there but this is normal to talk about, you are being watched by lots of people!

If you only care about apologizing to Gumball, why are you asking everyone to "keep it to themselves"?

Clearly you being called out by the community bothers you, and rather than taking a humble approach you decided to tell us all that a lack of downforce causes "accidents"

There is nothing more important then beeing humble, able to self-reflection and having respect to everyone.

And if I am allowed to tell my personal taste, of course everyone has the right to cheer after a sucsessfull race, but behaving like a roman gladiator after questionable moves is not my thing.

Is there a realistic possibility of a Drivers Panel so the top guys can give feedback and improve these events (and the game itself)?

@Tidgney mentioned this in a stream. PD do seem more responsive to feedback so hopefully they’ll look into this. I also know Kie25 suggests PD should up the various level caps/ratings. As it is many top drivers avoid Daily Races as they’re already maxed out with no incentive to push on. We want them competing and aiming to be the best ranked.

As it is many top drivers avoid Daily Races as they’re already maxed out with no incentive to push in.

That might be related to:

- Random lobby kicks (as we've seen in the Americas Finals), which means a couple thousand of DR points lost, even if you're leading the race. And 2K lost means hours of racing to gain back. It's a waste of time.
- Huge DR drops if someone else punts you off track into a spin and you lose your position (usually in the top 2 or 3 for fast guys).
- Saving the rank for the next FIA season.

I still want to put my account on 75K DR but I don't do that many races (or even play at all, as I've been playing other games). If I want to have fun with daily races, I can use my secondary account. With that account I don't care about DR or even getting poles, but only having clean racing.

Madrid was much better - very clean, great racing and overtakes. This was dirty and penalties were a joke.

Almost got the regular lobby vibes with some of these guys using other cars as braking barriers.

Don’t think your comments during the live stream trashing everybody at the event went unnoticed, including those who were involved. Don’t play dumb and act like Perro overreacted to one little comment.

This is the most ridiculous comment of them all. Nevermind the fact that you’re taking a clear shot at Nico by agreeing with what that fool said, but you are in no position to pretend like you know why the people who “left” did and why Nico didn’t. There is no hard feelings between anybody in FT, current or former. Quite the opposite actually. I’ve watched most of these live events and I have yet to see one unfold without multiple incidents. So what’s your point here? You clearly have a bone to pick with the American region in general. Why are you just openly ******** on every one there? People who you will be meeting and competing against in a couple weeks, no? You should be above this kind of nonsense. And again, don’t act like Perro’s response came out of nowhere. This is well beyond “fair criticism”. Don’t expect this kind of stuff to get ignored by people. He’s not the only one that was there that took notice of your comments either.

Ok I've done some work and put together all the results to give us an overview of all the world finalists in both Nations cup and Manufacturer series, before looking at the pictures, keep in mind that the red squares on some names of the manufacturer series finals means that I think they will not show up (underage or whatever reason), so for derek737_DK_, I've heard that he would not come by a few other guys (not 100% sure), should be replaced by The_sliders1324, for rick-918-bmx, seems he is underage, should be replaced by serfonseca, and for FT_5zigen, same reason, should be replaced by GT_ACADEMY2013.

Apologies if the pictures are not high quality and/or barely readable, and if I missed some guys that would not show up in manufacturer series or if I misunderstood some things feel free to tell me ;)

So first here are the Nations cup finalists by region, gg to all of them and best of luck at world finals representing your country and region

Nationsfinals.png

And then the drivers for the Manufacturer series world final (2 pictures cause it was too big to fit in only one ) (Some of you may not have heard at all about this as for the moment it seems only Nations cup had been advertised )

So that makes a total of 66 drivers ! (If I didn't forgot anyone ) Many thanks to Polyphony digital for making such a big event happen !
Will be something to meet everyone in Monaco

Pretty tame youtube chat if you can put screenshots of it up on GTP without AUP violations.

Psychological games if you ask me.
