You made me laugh .

Banter aside, good luck to the 16 Manufacturers that will face the N24 for 1 hour!

The main problem is that digital racing is of next to no interest to older people (say 40+ years old) and of exactly zero interest to younger people as well, so in the end the potential viewers are guys between 18-30 years old with an interest in cars/playstation/GT nostalgia. It's a very specific small audience compared to more dynamic and fresh games with a stronger hook.
That's a sweeping statement! Unless you've polled all 40+year old people :) and all the younger people as well! I think it's fair to say there's not much interest to people outside the GTS community.

Wow Japanese born drivers are incredible, they got somebody in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th!

The Overwatch League is very new and they hit nearly 11 million viewers in their final

The Overwatch community is way bigger and first person shooters naturally attract more viewers,Racing E-Sports has kind of a uphill battle with the general public

I'm 48 and have been playing GT since the day it was released and while I very much enjoy racing games or GT in particular I have no interest in esports. Not because I don't think its interesting but because most at my age have got a ton of responsibility that take Priority over video games. Mainly Careers & Kids.

But there was a poll done on here around a year ago asking how old everyone was and a large number of players are 40+

Sadly true. But even though I have no clue about marketing I'm pretty sure there are several ways to reach more viewers in the future.

The main problem is marketing, look at the Nurburgring event,it was marketed by Sony's main channels and look at that, the event had 100k+ views and the Red Bull event has 54k.Both of them are World Tour events, take into account that the Red Bull event was not marketed by Sony and it still managed to pull out 50k viewers,it seems the World Tours are more popular compared to the championship streams which makes sense.Exhibition usually attract more people.

Not sure its that bad,

38k and a bit veiws accross all languages,

Its in its infancy and everyone is learning.

Blanpain GT YouTube vids for comparison,

(Whilst not esport vs esport comparison, I feel its a fairer niche market comparison)

Sort of aligns with Tidgneys view that sim racing may well be the future competitive racing given spiralling costs.

Plus at thead early stages the too to guys are very relatable and accessible.

Plus the final hasn’t happened, Friday vs weekend, Promotion of said event could be better, fans could be included somehow like a fan vote for driver of the day etc there’s so much they can work on, but the base product has good foundations.

There will be plenty of carnage as we barrel into the double right in the south east corner of the map. Scenery wise it might be a little different as it appears to be more industrial, so it could be great for photos.

Any new circuit is welcome even if I cannot see myself using it outside of Daily Races or Sport Mode. It is the cars which really interest me.

i guess there will be elevation after that 2nd hairpin?! nice ^^

or is the way to the 2nd hairpin a tunnel? also tunnel before 1st hairpin? NEED MORE INPUT HERE!

Really? He braked on the exit of the second to last corner so as not to get a penalty (same one I got near the start of the race) because he went in too deep. I bumped him because of this. It was unavoidable. He would entered the last corner at roughly the same speed as usual and he lost grip on the exit on the rumble strip. I didn't touch him a second time.

I don't think you bumped into him twice. Only once, between the 2 last corners. From my POV, it looks like you had more than enough time to avoid the contact or at least try to. Anyway, that was not the main point.

Please bare in mind I have a Mustang with rear wheel drive, and a bit of tyre wear at this point and Carlos has the Veyron with 4WD.

Lap 10 I find grip on the green tarmac beyond the red and white rumble strip.

Lap 11 Carlos gives me a bit more room on exit, but still only half a car width of tarmac. At the point we make contact I'm either spinning the rears in second or just hit the torque from 3rd and unlike the previous lap, my left set of tyres are on the red and white rumbles.

Me moving over slightly (it's ridiculous to call it blocking imo) was a combination of lack of rear grip and naturally moving off the kerb for grip to defend my position for the last spot of the top 16 in the World Final.

Carlos did nothing wrong - he is a gentleman - but he could have given me more room on exit both laps and still had the traction to breeze by me.

It's nothing more than a bit of contact in the heat of the moment in a World Final. I was actually surpised when I saw the warning pop up, I couldn't immediately think what it was for, but please trust me when I say it was not intentional and I try to be the cleanest driver I can.

Yep, I know tire wear was getting into the mix as well. Carlos did choose the Veyron precisly because of that (he told that to the portuguese commentators before the race) and I think you chose the Mustang because you didn't want the Veyron. I imagine you being faster than Carlos going into the finals, you chose the Mustang when the Veyron was still available, right?

You chose the trajectory. Carlos placed his car as close as possible to your car but you went as wide as you could into the green surface. That surface is within the track limits so Carlos did nothing wrong. It was your mistake imo. You could have taken an inside/inside line, blocking a bit at the apex, as you did right after that through T4. At the end of the day, your decision of going for a wide line led to the lack of grip that led to your car going into Carlos's car and him not being able to overtake you.

Don't take this as an attack on your person. I think the faster drivers will and should be the ones being more scrutinized. PD has put you as one of the favorites and that puts the spotlight on your driving more than on other people. Igor and Hizal have been flawless so there's nothing to say about their driving. But I would criticize their racing decisions just as harder (if not much) because I expect so much more from them (and you).

You can trust me I wouldn't care about what happened in that race, had it not involved one of the favorites for the final win. You deserve that favoritism but with that comes a higher standard for the people watching. It's just like F1. More people talk about small mistakes made by those who finish in the podium than major facepalm deserving mistakes the guys in the mid pack make on any given weekend.

I agree with you with the stewards though, as will a lot of the competitors. It seemed they gave me a warning because it was on screen at the time but compared to moves being made elsewhere and in my first semi final race, it was nothing. Patrick's move on me on the last lap (off camera) imo was questionable, I ended up off track on the dirty tarmac beyond the rumble strip, but there wasn't even an investigation. After the disappointment of not getting through though I understand he had to make the move.

I did have an off day, I made a few mistakes and some things during the races didn't fall into place for me. But I'm a World Finalist and among the top 30 fastest drivers in the world and no one can take that away from me or indeed any of the other 29 guys, even if we do make mistakes.

I think you're one of the best drivers in the world and I never thought or said you shouldn't be at the world finals. Just don't expect me to not criticize any of the finalists' moves on track just because they're there. Makes no sense to me. Most if not everyone in the finals can kick my S on track. That doesn't mean they're above criticism. I'm past the age of being a blind fan. I have sincere admiration for some of the people in Monaco but I'll also say what I think about their performance on track. And nothing of it is personal. Is feedback from a fan of the game and fair racing.

I'm sure, more than anyone, you took some lessons from yesterday and will improve your own strategies in the future. I hope you can have a better day tomorrow and shut my mouth with a perfect race. That's what I want to see from you and that's what I didn't. You can thank my high expectations to your own results in the past and PD marketing team. :)

After the race it could be watched that both of them shaked their hands and talked to each other, so it's fine for them now I guess. To be fair, there was reeeeeeally much on the stake, nothing less then the last ticket

Why did so many people even make such a big fuss out of what was clearly oversteer? YT Chat was wild thinking it was some sort of deliberate sidewipe ffs

Probably because it did look like it. If even the blind stewards saw what most people on chat and some commentors saw, it's because it was not as clear of an oversteer swipe as you're making it out to be. It directly involved someone who was making a clean overtake (for te last place in a final) not being able to do it for no fault of his own.

Anyway, today we'll probably have more to discuss. lol

I chose the Mustang, yeah. I found the Veyron tyre wear worse, but in terms of grip in acceleration the Veyron is still superior.

I agree with your summary and in the end it's just a bit of contact and a racing incident. People have take their own opinions of the incident.

Anyway, looking forward to Sunday and I have some good car selections I think. But first, Manufacturer's later which I'm looking forward to. :)

Sorry I took so long to reply, but I was really pissed off to be honest. 3 different contacts with 1 basically deciding my fate... I must admit I am getting pretty tired of the divebombs going on so much so I've been thinking about whether I should compete in the future... irrespective of anything there's No way I'm doing 100m divebombs that cause crashes. I don't race like that and I don't see it as racing. If there's a gap ye go for it, but some of it was silly and stupid.

What made it even more frustrating is I'm pretty sure I'd have got my number 1 pick for the repecharge race and I was really fast there...

I'll see though obviously still a little frustrated to travel for one race. I dont mind being beaten fairly either. I'll enjoy the rest of the trip though, I hope the guys can put on a good show at least!

Thanks for any support though, that has been epic!

Unlucky mate it’s a shame it wasn’t on the stream as I’m sure we’d all love to see what happened.

I'm gutted for you mate.

From what I have seen, I'm pretty disappointed by some of the driving standards on display. I would expect best behaviour and harsh stewardship but that doesn't seem to be the case. I got a sense of this in the America region finals. They seemed to get slack on aggressive moves/driving.

I'm also disappointed at how they did qualifying for the events. Bit of a let down for me all in all.

Big respect to you as always, and commend your approach to racing. If only everybody had the same mentality.

On the plus side, you have an army of a following now and a hope your YT channel goes from strength to strength.

I hope PD learn from this event and fan feedback.

I feel for you and it is disappointing to see even in a big event like this how it is tolerate to race like that .
In daily race I can accept it more or less because at the end it is the jungle over there .
Don't take it to seriously like it is now it is not worth it and ....PD promote his race game as a Real Race Simulator and all I see is Bumper cam view , I never saw a real races sitting on his bumper while racing .
You will get over it good luck .

PD promote his race game as a Real Race Simulator and all I see is Bumper cam view , I never saw a real races sitting on his bumper while racing ..

That's because of the lack of customisable POV Settings, meaning that the actual Cockpit View available is unrealistic relative to a players seating position. So both cockpit and bumper (and other views) are unrealistic, so people go with the one they find helps them go quicker, or helps them be more aware.

Frustrating. But I hope you make the most of it and get plenty of behind the scenes footage, interviews, insight etc. Will be well worth a watch on your channel.

Technically it isn’t bumper cam. It’s closer to the eyeline of the driver sat in the car (in the centre). In a true bumper cam you are pearched our front and get a very different feel.

Thank you for the explanation VeeDoubleU

Unlucky Tidg.

We didn't get to see any of the incident(s) involving you.

You seemed to be clear of danger and then the incident happened and a 2 sec penalty was issued.

But we got no detail.
