American region drivers made a big statement that on the world stage competing against drivers from the other regions they are in fact a force to be reckoned with. From what I watched the top two drivers as far as overtaking and making up places against this top shelf competition today were both American regional drivers.

Does not mean the results will be the same at another time in another race with the same competitors but today as far as pace both Igor and Rubilar were in the zone and the cream of the crop.

Amazing event again. I'd watch this every weekend for sure. So fun!

Nico was definitely the highlight of the day. Not the luckiest guy, as this time his race was ruined because of the contact made by the Subaru (that's the risk of racing close to other cars at Nurburgring), but he finally showed to the world how good he is.

To be fair, most of the other favorites didn't drive on soft tires, as Nico and Igor did. Miura did a superb job in the Toyota and Kawakami for Lexus. They didn't need to go nuts though.

I still don't get why BMW didn't just start on the Softs and ask the hot hand in Nico to try and bolt clear for the first 2-3 laps. The position Lexus found themselves in later on could've been BMW's spot had they not taken such a massive risk in starting on Mediums. I get that they were trying to make other teams waste their Softs but it really wasn't going to work once the first car got past. You just lose more time battling other cars.

Nico did show his pace in the Superpole though and all competitors there were on the same tires.

That manufacturer's race should be the standard live races are held to IMO, final races at the very least. It was a great length that allowed the cars at the back to battle through the field, and didn't overstay its welcome at all.

Not too sure the tire wear shouldn't have been turned up, it was odd seeing the soft stint be the longest and the hard being the shortest, but it worked out on track so I'll act like they knew what they were doing

Congrats to all involved. That was more enjoyable to watch than I thought it would be.

Special congrats to the aston drivers who were one of my picks to win.

Commiserations to the nissan drivers who just had an off day.

My other pick was ferrari and that just didnt work out at all.

Well, of course. But the cars were very different as well. The BMW is one the fastests cars of the pack. Let's not ignore that fact. It doesn't take away from Nico's performance but we can't also say the conditions were the same for everyone, when they weren't and most people didn't even put in a Q lap.

Exactly... I had a feeling it wouldn’t end well as soon as I saw the yellow M...

For me Igor is driver of the day,guy made the impossible with his Nissan and unfortunely that cost him in the end but i can't help but smile at how he was holding back a train of cars with low fuel and used tires. The good thing is that he can bounce back tomorrow with the Nations Cup

We did 7 laps in a deathtrap that would rather sit in a corner and cry than be confronted with a kerb or bit of camber with 0 spins or crashes, so I vote us 3 Ferrari bois DOTD personally . (Full yeeting it round the outside of Lester in the Dodge being a highlight of mine)

That's the perfect example to illustrate my previous post.

The Ferrari can't be put in the same level as the BMW, Lexus, Porsche or Beetle. Some cars on this track must have been a nightmare to drive. Ferrari being one of them.

interesting no one opted for Audi... well the R8 is indeed a under and over steer machine.. that car needs some love in the game. In the real world R8 is a champion.

I'm not sure about caling Igor driver of the day. I would prefer RC Miura for this.

As far as I understood it, Igor did a mistake in the qualifying session which forced himt to do his run with full fuel.

And running out of fuel in the race is just a pretty big mistake if you ask me. Or did it have even a selfish reason? Because if he would have saved fuel, people would say look he is not that fast, because they wouldn't know that he is saving fuel. Maybe he didn't want to risk that. Otherwise I can't explain how you can run out of fuel half a kilometer before the finish line.

Haha! That ended that whole "ThEy WaNt NiSsAn To WiN" bs
Seeing PD's plans to have Nissan win the World Final be thwarted because of their own joke of a penalty system is the ultimate comedy.

For Igor, was either drive a boring stint and keep the 7th or 8th place (because up to 6th place they were all very close, with Softs and pushing hard) or risk everything and try a podium. He did what anyone should do but few could actually accomplish. He had nothing to lose, made what he could to finish as high as possible and he was probably trying to get rid of the Toyota and hoping that him, the Aston and the VW would lose time among themselves. That would give him a bit more time to save fuel.

Unfortunately for him, everyone behind was coming fast, with better tires and more fuel. The weak boost made it harder to break away too.

Igor did what any smart driver who loves racing would do. I know I would try the same. He had aboslutley nothing to lose and almost managed to finish in the podium.

The slipstream with weak boost also makes the back straight overtakes look unrealistic as seen by the fack that the Porsche was 2nd at the start of the straight and didn't lose 5 positions because the Nissan stopped.

To me Nico is the driver of the day. Pole and the best stint in the worst conditions (having to overtake more drivers).

That's only because he was on softs in a sea of hard tires.
We couldn't see the tire's waste but in lap 3 i'm sure he have to do miracles to stay on track in front of medium fresh tires. I think the gasoline problem is his fault , if i'm not wrong he sit just after the entry in the pit and himself decide when to stop the refill. He did a wondefull job anyway in my opinion.
