That will make some sense when participants are already sponsored and recognized a professional eSports drivers.

Because if there's a lot of money involved and people are there as fans/people who have racing as a hobby (and not as professional eSports racing drivers), the chances of mistakes and aggressive moves probably skyrockets.

This is not like Dota or CS. In GTS you can be ruined in a split second by someone else's decision. In that respect, more things depend on what other people do than what happens with other massive eSports titles, where players make their own wins, regardless of their opponents mistakes.
Take for instance what the Subaru team did with the BMW's on saturday.

People talking about the December update. I'll throw a wild guess into the mix while we're at it.

With the license for TVR being obtainable again, the new Griffith in road, Gr.4, and Gr.3 forms I personally would be ecstatic about.

As for the World Finals themselves, congratulations to Lexus, Fraga and Brazil! Also, big ups to Cody for being the dark horse of the event. Proud to have been one of about 5 people in his old GT6 Karting Academy Championship! :D

I've said my piece in the chat and have decided that this is the first live event in a long time that I will not be watching because running classes that have bad BoP at this point in the competition is unacceptable. Whilst some teams were screwed over by the Manufacturers BoP (coughFerraricough), at least that had some semblance of parity and it made for an extremely exciting event that came down to the drivers.

Guess I'll read about who won the 'world championship' after the fact but it might not be the actual best driver today and that sucks.
I'm pretty sure we all agree on the format not being ideal, but in the end it was still good to watch.
A shame I had to watch this at work. I'll have to catch the whole thing on my big TV at some point like the first two streams.
Eyyyyy, glad I'm not the only one who watched it at work, had to restrain myself from over excitement.

Just finished watching and here are my thoughts, which are heavily biased towards the Aussie and a bit of focus on the Japanese, because it's my country/region and I met them in Tokyo (and Latkovski did good (and he got lucky car picks)).

Race 1:
When I saw Latkovski drew the McLaren F1 I thought woo Aussie in with a shot, and what a race by him.
Overall was good viewing, battle for upper spots was good to watch.
Tokyo South not bad looking track, looking forward to trying it when it comes out.
Really needed a more thorough test of the tyre wear multiplier if they wanted pitstops mid race instead of softs for the whole race and one lap dash on mediums at the end. Bit funny when they flashed the tyre strategy graphic a few times mid race.
Great race by Fraga, shame for Kokubun but good race by Yoshida and Yamanaka.

Race 2:
Saw Latkovski in the Aston, again in with a good shot, it's what he used to dominate us in the Aussie block race in Tokyo.
Latkovski with the moves on lap 2, bit of trading paint not 100% clean but was ok for Gr3 cars.
What a great finish, so many position changes.
Latkovski strong again, albeit a bit lucky with car lottery.
Based on the angles we got, Yamanaka did look a tiny bit dirty, but good race nonetheless.

Race 3:
Laktovski again lucky with the car lottery drawing the 908.
Wider range of Gr1 cars compared to the Gr1 races in the regional finals. Obviously 16 cars vs 10 cars needed to include the Group C cars.
Cut to the Italian commentators saying "mama mia".
Wong from the back in the 919 up to a good finish in the points as mentioned by the commentators after the race.

Final Race:
Fraga drove out of his skin on the hards.
As soon as Chris said something like "Fraga still has the soft tyres to go" I knew it was all over.
An absolutely mental race. This is what happens when you give everyone equal cars. You get proper drama. Also since these are the top 16 in the world, you get good racecraft.
Shame for Yamanaka, was probably a small incident that dropped him further, which we weren't able to see.
With a drive like that Fraga totally deserves the overall honours.

Overall a lot riding on the qualifying from Thursday and car lottery luck factor. We all know it doesn't make sense compared "normal" motorsport but this is a "game" they can do whatever they want. It creates a real test of adaptability and skill in the whole game, not just one or two car track combos. I agree with everyone complaining that it doesn't make sense but they have limited time at the event and therefore limited options for the format.

Congratulations @Igor Fraga , @TRL LIGHTNING and @Nik_Makozi

For all the imperfections, the weekend included some of the most exciting racing I have seen this year. Up there with any Formula 1 race this year, in my opinion, including the USGP where I was sitting at turn 1. I thought the commentator duo of Jimmy Broadbent and Chris McCarthy did a good job but I would like to see another duo try as well.

That was some proper drama. I also liked how the players gradually became more and more famous over the weekend, it made the last race even more exciting.

In the end it was pretty obvious that the right guy won. In terms of driving and in terms of strategy.

Well it’s over. I’ll be lying to you if I told you I’m not leaving this event a little sour, after getting wrecked 3 of the 4 races and they didn’t even show them at all for whatever reason there wasn’t much I could do, .....

What's that now at least 3 top drivers have felt bad enough about what happened to them in race(s) to post about it on GTP?

Again not caught on stream or shown after the event, I think we missed most of the big incidents with the exception of Subaru on BMW in Manufacturers.

Given the time and effort put in by these guys to just make the finals perhaps Black Flags and bans from future events should be a thing in GTS FIA 2019.

Incidents and accidents will always happen but reckless can be eradicated if the penalties are stiff enough and 2-5 seconds just doesn't cut it.

Unlucky Lloyd, but you and @Doodle did give us one of the memories of this seasons FIA at Inter Lagos in the regionals.

Thank you m8, yeah the Asian Champion dumped me turn 2 first lap, I went from 5th to last. And he only got a 2sec penalty. There was another huge accident involving at least another 5 cars including myself again cause I had no where to go, And they didn’t show that either. Just for myself and other top competitors, it’s just a little gut wrenching to work this hard to get to the final. To only get wrecked consistently and them never showing any of the wrecks to give more reason of why a lot of us was stuck in the back. From about 8th place back it was a complete joke and the race craft was very poor, if they showed what a lot of these guys were doing to me back there and other competitors you wouldn’t think they were top 16 world drivers. I know I’m ranting and it’s not something I like to do, but to work this hard for months to fight for a title to only get wrecked constantly. It’s very very disappointing for the lack of better words. I just like to thank everyone for all the support and everyone that understands. And best regards for a very deserving winner @Igor Fraga and @TRL LIGHTNING and @nikmakozi for grabbing the podiums. There’s always next year, and hope to see all you Guys back online racing soon! I’m just going to take a quick break from this. You all here on GTPlanet are the best, more than likely the best community in all of gaming! Cheers!

That cuts both ways mate, you and many others play a big part in that, I can't think of many other games where the top, top guys are as accessible, informative and helpful as the GT Sport streamers and uploaders are.

When you lot get to race properly it really can be fantastic viewing.

Looking back at the regionals and finals. Underrated driver was definitelu Carazza. I watched the 24SS' and he never really catched my eye. Has had very solid results in both events.

I can understand that accidents do happen, but the penalties given [or lack thereof] for some very questionable moves were actually bizarre. Can only think that it's ignored for PR purposes with the FIA present. I thought they said post Regions that the World's will be very strickt on penalties, but it seems just the opposite.

Can really understand how you [and guys like Tidgney etc.] feel, but still think you did an astounding job with what you've been dealt with.

Congrats to Igor, Hizal and Latkowski

Something that got on my nerves a bit is when someone got binned off through absolutely no fault of their own, its always passed off on the broadcast as them having a 'disappointing race' or something like that

Its like dude, cmon, show the replay to let the people know WHY someone is so far down

I caught a lot of incidents watching in the front row that guys watching online never would've seen, and thats stupid

Would be great if they could upload the replays onto the Discover section. Last night we were able to watch both Manufacturers and Nations Final on the in game replay on the rigs in the hour or so before they started taking them down
Thats a great idea.

Exactly on point, you get binned off, nobody gets punished, nobody even sees that on the stream and knows what actually happened to you and even think you are just doing a bad race, that hurts like hell after. I feel sorry for all the guys that had bad luck on the lottery with the cars as well, hopefully this will change in the next season.

Congrats to all of the guys for giving a fantastic show, it was a pleasure to watch everything, absolutely enjoyed every minute. IMO, Igor didn't deserve to take the title as he made too many mistakes in respectively faster cars overall, compared to Lightning and Makozi. Unfortunately for them, they made a wrong strategy call for the final race which costed them too much in the end.

There was a good idea for the Manufacturers race having one of us Brits up in the booth when we weren't driving for a little insight during the race, even just for a moment whilst cars were following eachother on the Nords where they couldn't really pass. Wasn't really practiced though beforehand with the mics so you were all spared me banging on about a Ferrari in 15th's superior fuel strategy and moaning about tyre wear at the start of Lap 2

Any after party hangovers? ;)

Let's just say I've felt better on a morning

What do the competitors think of the new track. I know that you probably weren't worrying about how good the track was at the time, but how was it to drive?

I must admit I felt similar to this yesterday, the excessive importance given to a ridiculously short qualifying and random car choices worked to his advantage.

That said, in the one single make race he started 10th and won going away against 15 of the best drivers in the world. So I now feel my initial thoughts were unfair on him.

He was keeping up with Fraga and actually overtook him in the final race, very strong performance.

I watched live semifinals and finals and I have to say that Igor Frada deserve the victory, he is the best driver this year. In the last race, Sarthe track, he demonstrated all his skill and leadership starting from the eleventh place and coming first.

As much as I wanted Mikail to take it all, but credit to who deserves credit, so I don't agree on that part. Everybody did mistakes, and the race of Igor in Le Mans is in my oppinion legendary by now already.
The whole thing was filled with incidents etc.
Regardless that One Make x2014 just put a whole different look on Fraga. Insane with hard tyres (not even downplaying the others of course).
