First of all, I want to congratulate everyone involved in today's races and especially the 3 guys who finished on the podium: @Igor Fraga , @TRL LIGHTNING and @Nik_Makozi. Without a doubt the 3 most consistent drivers overall.

Personally, I was glad to see Igor as a WC, not only because he was my favorite, with a very small margin over Hizal, but because we share the same language as well.

My personal bet for the world's is Igor, from Brazil.

(I'll be writing as if the people I address actually read this thread... because why not :D )

@Igor Fraga What a roller coster, meu irmão. The tire wear of the Jag was tough around Interlagos and your mistake at Monza put a lot of pressure on yur shoulders for the final race. You almost blew it! But that last race was ludicrous. It was hard to belive you were on the same car as everyone else to be honest. Using the draft as effectivly as possible, using wide lines and braking late, everything was perfect. Albuquerque was commenting along when we were watching your POV and even the gear changes or spot on. The hard tire stint was out of this world and one of the highlights of the World Finals IMO. I hope to see you more and more invested in GT Sport after this and I really look forward to what you can get out of this first WC title with GT Sport. We all know you race IRL too and it would be a shame to not have your talent around. I sincerely hope you get sponsors somehow (if not soon, at some point in the future) and this whole eSports thing catches on.

@TRL LIGHTNING I think you were the most consistent driver today and the one who had the toughest job to climb up to the podium. The way Qualifying works means you started in 10th and had to win places without making a single mistake on any of the 4 races. That's some pretty damn good consistency! Had you gotten a decent (not even fast, only decent) Q lap, you could have won it all. You showed how fast and fair you are on track and next year you'll have a chance to claim 1st! It was clear you were a bit sad in the podium because you probably knew you could have done it. Don't worry, you're young. ^^ You still won the personality and charisma award from my part! You're very engaging, entertaining and humble. Don't change.

@Nik_Makozi I didn't know you but you were a very good surprise. I'd read some people saying you were the only non-japanese driver from the Asian region who could have a chance at winning but I had zero references about your race pace. You had a very consistent and fast day as well and you deserved to finish in the podium. Just as @TRL LIGHTNING you had to work your way through the dielf from 11th in the first race to 3rd in the last. Your semi final on Friday though wasn't quite as great as today's races. You looked pretty relaxed at the wheel too btw. 👍

@Coque14 had everything to fight for the podium but at Monza he lost his chances. From the replay, it looked like the 787B touched the Sauber from Igor and the Sauber sent the Peugeot to the sand. Had not been for this sitaution, I think you could have fought for the podium with MAKOZI and LIGHTNING for sure. You've shown how fast you are and you'll probably be fighting again next year.

@Yamado_Racing38. I don't know what happened in the last race. It was very strange for me watching you losing place after place. You could have won the whole thing but appears that the last car was not your type of car or you had some other issue going on (pressure, stress, thirst ? who knows). Your races were very good up to that point but then all went away. Good luck next year because I'm sure you'll be fighting for this again. At least going by your statements, you seem very focused and determined to win.

Some drivers were clearly on a bad day today and that's racing. Nico finished in last, and didn't get a single point today. After what he did yesterday, I was expecting something on the same level today. He's one of the fastests drivers around for sure, but it looks like he needs more time to get used to live events and the pressure of racing wheel to wheel in the mid pack or working his way up the grid on similar tires and more balanced cars. Akiga was another driver from whom we all expected great results but only got 12 points today. Fuvaros, @Giorgio_57 and @Aderrrm also had a tough time today. Would love to hear from all of these people and their insights into the event and the races in particular.

Filipe Albuquerque and Duarte Félix da Costa did an absolutely amazing job as commentators and it's a shame they only joined the party for the finals because they're so freaking good. I love the EN and ES commentators but there's nothing quite as awesome as having professional racing drivers (in case of Albuquerquer one of the best in the world) commenting live. They're clearly passioned about the event and it sounded like they themeselves weren't expecting to be so excited about the quality of the races we had throughout the weekend. If someone from PD reads this, please keep PT commentators for future live events. The audience is just as high as with other languages.

Albuquerque apparently has the 2nd fastest lap (in race pace) around Le Mans ever. He did it with the Audi LMP1 back in 2015 and he was in awe of Fraga's driving skills. :D

I'd love to watch something like this every weekend. I hope that to be achieved in the next 5 years because it's just too good to happen once a year. PD has shown why so many people love what they do. Everything transpired quality, atention to detail, great organization and a commitment to make GT Sport the best place for eSports racing. I think how the races and qualifying sessions have been handled can be greatly improved but on the other hand, for the first year doing it, it produced amazing races and drama.

I'd love to take part of an event like this but I know myself and I'll probably miss it due to not caring as much as clearly everyone attending does. ^^ I'm getting old and I like being at home enjoying and commenting on what I'm watching live. :D I wouldn't mind going with a team though... :D

Anyway, now I'll just have to wait for @Jordan @Famine and @SlipZtrEm to finish their after party and start bringing out the goods, aka articles and videos. ^^

My question of the evening is how did the S2000 drive in the N500 race- I hope the grip setup is coming in the next update!

Well it’s over. I’ll be lying to you if I told you I’m not leaving this event a little sour, after getting wrecked 3 of the 4 races and they didn’t even show them at all for whatever reason there wasn’t much I could do, like getting punched in the gut. Only positive thing I can say Is that I could finally show my pace for the last four laps of race 2 from going to 13th to 6th cause I finally wasnt getting harashed.
Thank you everyone for all the support and giving me the best wishes. It was a great experience just wish people had some more sense behind the wheel. I love you all ❤️ We’ll get them next year.

Damn proud to see the flag there. 👍

No need to wait for the after party:
https://www.gtplanet.net/igor-fraga...-nations-cup-with-stunning-last-gasp-victory/

We work on site. You will have to wait for a full player perspective video of the new track, and our thoughts on it as well as new cars, though. Can't miss too much of the party... ;)

(Oh yeah, and plenty more interviews!)

Sad that I can give only 1 Like to that post 👍👍👍

What a pleasure it was to watch the races over the weekend. It was surreal to see the franchise that I have been playing for decades, one that I grew up with and have so many rich memories and experiences of, reach the point that it has.

My entire family gathered around to watch the events this weekend and it just felt amazing.

Congrats to all who participated. Looking forward to next season!

Fraga with hard tires is faster than drivers with soft tires?

That was totally me! Don't know if the tyres had glitched or if he was genuinely that fast. Probably the latter unfortunately.

Not to take anything away from Fraga but I don't believe that real racing drivers should be able to compete. They are at a distinct advantage as they have more racing experience and know better than those who have simply played in their living room.
i can just feel the hate coming...

Anyhow, I got up at like 3:30 this morning to watch the event and it was worth it. I've only had three hours sleep but I don't care. The races had everything you would expect from a Grand Final. All sorts of accidents, shocks, horrors and edge of your seat action. Having soo many drivers in contention to win the thing really made me stay on the stream until the end. Thankfully the championship was decided in the last race; as it should be. I thought Fraga's win was going to be a certainty, somewhat detracting from the fun if you will, but he had to fight for it. I didn't think that ANYONE could challenge him, but he made some costly mistakes that threw Latkovski, Hizal and Yamanaka right into contention. I wanted Latkovski to win SOOO badly, but I suppose that was optimistic. Then again after scraping through the Semi Finals I didn't think he'd be in with a shot. The quality of the racing was brilliant, and that last race had my heart racing (no pun intended). Just like a real event. I only hope that this series expands further and becomes a mainstay in e-Sports. You can tell that a tonne of money has been invested to get this championship off the ground. I still remember when the very idea of an FIA championship was put forward in 2014. To have it go from the Copper Box to Monaco in three years is insane. This has to get more exposure in future. Yet the biggest highlight was seeing an AUSTRALIAN place third in the championship - the WORLD championship. What a great morning for me! Apart from the lack of sleep of course. Can't wait for the next season.

Yamanaka was knocking his door at Interlagos,i believe Hizal(Lightning) and some other drivers can keep up with him.Fraga isn't unbeatable it's just really hard to be better than him. Remember Senna?I bet lots of drivers thought he had some extra horsepower in his car back in the day

So....what now for Igor? Some time back it was said that the winner of the World Finals will get a racing contract, but what if the winner is already a real life racer? I'm curious how this works.

Contract goes to the second place? And honestly i don't think the race contract thing is 100% happening at least not now,PD could bring GTAcademy back from the dead but giving a racing contract for someone who just won a e-sport championship doesn't seem wise to me.
There's alot of stuff that happens to a aspiring racing driver before he has a change to enter a cockpit.

The exposure will definitely help. And the FIA dude said they were actively looking for talent with these tournaments. The fact that Igor is a Brazilian F3 champ means that this could open a lot of doors for him. Being only 18 is something else in his favor.

I really hope this goes somewhere with him. And why not for the rest of the podium.

I've been thinking what happens if the winner of these events doesn't want the race contract lol,if i won the world finals i would decline the offer i'm just a gamer i'm don't want to race in real life that's a big life changing decision.

I thought the race contract was just a wild assumption made by some large media outlet. Either way, important eyes were on everyone this weekend. Automotive eSports is growing up. It's not just a bunch of dorks in their basement anymore. This is getting serious and Kaz made a great move teaming up with the FIA. This is beneficial for everyone: pro motorsports, PD, GT, the competitors.

The parallel is Jon Armstrong. He is a WRC2 driver and eSports WRC 2018 champ. AFAIK him and Igor are the only eSports Champs with upper level motorsports experience.

Jon is working as a consultant at Codemasters. I would imagine that Igor's hypothetical options would be much bigger than a tester for PD.

Those races were so realistic it was amazing. Sim racing has really come a long way. The cars, tracks, quality of driving, everything seemed so real if you understand what I mean. And the coverage was on point and quite professional.
It was the first time I tuned in to see a live broadcast of an event like this from yesterday Saturday to Sunday and it encourages me to tune in the more in the future.

Key interesting thing for you guys maybe was me getting my hands on the Debug version of the December Patch for a bit :) I am sworn to secrecy however

I hosted my own Nations Cup Final with all the cutscenes and everything on Northern Isle with x30 tyres and x30 fuel with a penalty zone that was literally the length of the circuit  Theres some interesting behind the scenes values you can adjust such as the penalty PUNISHMENT value and rolling start distance from the start line, as well as rolling start speed limit

Oh and Tidge and Aderrrm are absolutely smashed
