FIFA 17 OT: Engine Swapped (Out Now)

Gradually losing interest in this year's UT. Player runs are still dire and shouldn't be as bad as they are. Outside of that I'm finding you either get the run/luck in a match or you don't, which gets frustrating as this year is even more physical (which is good).

Oh and players colliding with each other happens way too often.
Have you tried doing the custom tactics? It really helps in the way your players make runs and the way your defenders position themselves.

Journeyman update:

I'm still stuck in Korea and just finished about half of my third season there with Pohang Steelers. We finished 4th the first season and 2nd in the 2nd season. I'm currently 1st with a 7 point lead so hopefully I can head to North America and the MLS or Liga MX next.

If you are ever looking for a good league to do a career, give Korea a try. There are 6 or 7 teams that are all very close in talent and the table is always very close.

Title update 2 is out on PC; next week for console.

In other news, this was posted on OpSports about illegal hacking of FUT coins from EA:

"This morning in Texas, defendant Anthony Clark will go on trial for conspiracy to commit wire fraud after allegedly working with three other hackers to mine FIFA coins from EA’s servers, then sell those coins to “black market” dealers in Europe and China. The FBI alleges that Clark and his co-defendants made between $15 and $18 million off this scheme."

That Lukaku card would be splended to replace my Halloween one....

@lxmmy Okay, I think the tactic is helping a bit, I've been doing some single player seasons with players I can't sell and I'm trying learn a bit more. I think the new driven shots are great for one on ones, probably not been using them enough.

What controller settings do you think are best? There's quite a few control levels there. I'm very assisted, generally.

I finally made it out of Korea by winning the league in my 3rd season there. Luckily, it only took two weeks of searching to get a job offer in North America. My next team is Tigres UANL in Liga MX. :D

I have everything default and then the analog sprint is turned off.

All the games are in Division 1 and FUT Champions as well but cheaper alternatives which I still currently use to rotate when Ibra is low on fitness is Ahmed Musa and Roberto Firmino.

Journeyman update:

I have reached the playoff finals for the Clausura (2nd half of the season) with Tigres and we are facing bitter rivals Monterrey (where Tigres are also based). After only managing them for half a season, I think I may force myself to stay with the team even if we win because I never built this team and they won the first half without me. I am also really enjoying the Liga MX; there are some really cool kits and some class players.

Liga MX kits are very vivid such as the UNAM and the America kits which I use to run as my home and away on FUT.

My wife bought me this on Xbox One yesterday. The change in engine has brought with it much more fluidity in gameplay than Ignite had.

I've just started my career pro in the J-League.

Journeyman update:

We ended up reaching the Clausura final in my first season managing Tigres facing Monterrey. After a 2-1 away win in the first leg of the final through simulation, I decided to play the second leg to watch us lift the trophy. Things were going well with the Tigres up 1-0 (and 3-1 on aggregate) at the 75 minute mark, and it looked like we had the game locked up. That is until the EA scripting took over and a 35 yard volley was rocketed past my goalie. Then of course in the 90th+ minute, a 20 yard shot from the CPU made it 2-1 for Monterrey and a trip to extra time. A scoreless extra time led to a shootout where my first three shots went: side bar, crossbar, side bar. The CPU scored all three of theirs to win the game. :banghead:

So in the end, I got to stay with Tigres for at least another season anyway. In my second season of Liga MX, we are currently in the Apertura playoff final after finishing the league in 4th. We drew the first leg of the final 1-1 so hopefully we can pull out a win and become playoff champions for the first half of the league season.

Journeyman update:

In my 2nd season with Tigres, we wound up winning all competitions entered: Pre-season cup, League Apertura and Clausura and the Copa Latin America. Upon finishing the season, I quickly found a job in the next continent of South America with:

Our first season with Colo-Colo in the Chilean league was very successful; we won the League Apertura but were ousted through simulation in the semi-finals of the Clausura playoff. I wasn't too unhappy though because the 2nd season allowed me to bring over my scout future star from Tigres. He's now an Exciting Prospect, 81 overall CM at 22 years old. It is currently December 2023 and we are in the League Apertura playoff final.

My Bolivian national team just started World Cup qualifying again after failing to qualify for the 2022 edition. We are finally able to have close games with sides like Venezuela and Colombia. Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay are still the powerhouses but there is room in the group for us to advance in qualifying if we can take care of the lesser teams.

Journeyman update:

After two full seasons in Chile, I managed to win both league halves in our second year and progress to the final continent of the challenge; Europe. This was by far the most interesting job search because there are so many leagues and teams available. The ultimate goal, however, is to win the World Cup so it does put less of an impact on which league/team are chosen. It does provide an opportunity to try new leagues in the game that are normally not used in career mode too. I ultimately chose a team that I had never used before but in a league I have been in several times: Aston Villa in the EFL Championship.

My first season in England was very successful as we won the EFL Championship and gained promotion to the Premier League for the 2025/2026 season (Jack Grealish is going on 30 years old for reference and 82 overall). Our first season in the Premier League is off to a rocky start though with the team only gaining three points from the first ten games with no wins. We are sitting in the relegation zone right now heading into November 2025, 1 point behind Man United for 19th place. :boggled:

The Bolivian National team has been doing very well. My original crop of youth players are now into the low to mid 80's in rating (my 24 year old goalie is 88 overall) and with only a couple World Cup qualifying games remaining, we are 1st in the South American group. I don't know if we have what it takes to win the World Cup yet but we should have a fighting chance. It seems like we have played Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina about ten times each now but I don't know how any of the European national teams have been progressing. I know USA is doing really well because I did a lot of youth scouting for them early on in the career before we had a national team.

This is by far the best team I have used. It is immensely overpowered in every field, but there are many cheap alternatives which can do the job also such as Musa, Mane, Walcott, Fernandinho, Can and Williams etc.

Here are the stats of my forwards:

And people still refuse to believe that the game is rigged... :boggled:

If EA wants to make Fifa a competetive game, all momentums and any form for scripts or advantages needs to be removed...
The post has been removed.

It isn't rigged. It is just people failing to accept another person is better than them at the game and investing their time to come up with an excuse. Plus, the FUT Champions which have been implemented this year makes it a competitive game as the top 12 regional from the monthly leader board can earn up to $1 million so any form of 'scripting' would just defeat the object of this.

Been removed?

It's still there.

You cannot defend that just because FUT Champions is a great idea, then suddenly Fifa is a competetive game.

A competetive game can NOT be based on the game making moves for you... Fifa does that... It's not at all competetive...

Just because pros and youtubers play it regularly, does not make it a real competetive game...

Imagine a real competetive game like Counter Strike... Imagine if the game shot the rifles for you... Imagine the game changing weapons for you at random... Imagine the game dropping the weapon out of nowhere...

That's what Fifa is like today... Random AI passes... Alot of ******** touches in some matches that never exists in other matches... 2-3 second or more button delay at times... And I could mention alot more.

It cannot be classified as a competetive game with all these gamebreaking flaws!

It was removed when I looked at the post.

There are flaws but not as severe to say they are game breaking and you just over exaggerate them. This is coming from a person with 1000+ wins and a regular top 100 and elite player. The touches depend on your players attribute (dribbling / ball control) and the way you are responding to the ball coming to the feet of the player. And about the button delay from my experience it is maybe only a second to an extent and if it is 2-3 seconds in your case then it has something to do with your connection.

Well, FIFA is a competitive game as there are many events such as Gfinity, FIWC and of course FUT Champions where the game has become a complete profession to the pros and the prize money are just extraordinary in sums which raises the level of competitiveness to an all time high and even real life football teams such as PSG, Wolfsburg, Man City and West Ham have their own competitive FIFA team.

Please mention more about your bitterness towards the game because there is no actual/valid proof in your claim about 'scripting'.

Out of interest, have you played against people like Sean Allen and beaten them?

Only played Fifa 17 briefly online when I had a free PS Plus trial. I don't play much online but messages when you win against some people are funny. Sometimes get to learn how to swear in different languages.
