Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

 Probably reasonably quick at best, but a long long way off alien pace. I haven't seen any sub 1 minute laps yet but I have no doubt they could be done by the aliens or SRF users. A few were running similar pace to me, managed a 1:00.6xx (slipstream maybe?) chasing everyone's friend Veronica (1:00.7's) after getting a penalty(not from her) at turn 1. Surprisingly clean races although no overtaking was done, whoever got out in front early stayed there.

Haven't started tweaking my mongrel tune yet, I think a bit less weight might work for me here. I'm running 900kgs@ 50:50 weight distribution atm but I noticed much better lap times in the 111R at Rome with slightly less weight, so I'll definitely give it a go with the Miata as well (890kgs???). I was able to gain a lot of time in the corners and not loose bugger all down the straights in 111R, maybe it might work here too?

All in all, a fun combo, just not enough decent opposition:indiff:. The Midfield event was much better imo.
I had a 1:00.25x with a pretty big tow. Mostly running high 1:00 times though.

I agree with you 100%, the mid field event was way more fun. Hopefully the next batch is a bit more exciting.

Can anyone share a tune for the Miata? I can run consistent mid to high 1:01s with my own effort but I'm sure it's not perfect. It's pretty quiet - I had a room to myself for a while tonight so got some practice and fiddled with the set-up, then eventually got a few races. Good competition, no idiots. Won some, lost some.
Tried London in a Tesla for a while and that was ok too. Again very quiet but what competition there was was all good and fairly clean.
Cape Ring - Didn't really get on with the cars or the track, and I don't think Monza will be my cup of tea. When I saw "Historic Race Cars" I was thinking GT40 and 330 P4. I must be getting old when what I think of as only yesterday is considered historic.
@kilesa4568 Shame you don't like Tsukuba. There's some good racing to be had and it's the best of a fairly mediocre bunch for me. I miss Mid-Field.

Use the cape ring setup

Can anyone share a tune for the Miata?

This is what I used at Cape Ring.

140/90
11.15/8.15
4/7
7/4
4/6 0/0
-0.05/0

BB 7/10

Diff 5/16/5

Final 5500 (I think...5000 if not)

3.087
2.291
1.786
1.429
1.183

4150 final

I was never totally happy with the gearbox so you might have more success working from the original tune sheet:

I've always had a problem with that track. Instant boredom. Maybe if they ran gocarts there...

Cape Ring isn't too bad if you avoid the quickest cars and stick with the Pug or Accent. They'll both do (for me) mid 37's and keep the Lancer's honest. The Focus and Scooby sedan can easily keep up with them both, cracking the 36's. The Scooby is the pick of the bunch for me though as I set a mid 36 without any drafting. Brilliant acceleration out of the corners.

Hopefully the next batch isn't far away. This lot is getting stale quick.

Did about 20 races at London in the Mitsubishi and won almost all of them. I think the fullest any race was was 6 other drivers. But it was usually me vs. 2 other guys.

Is there boost for the historic race cars at monza?

Edit:I don't understand how I can get a 1.27.xx on one lap and then get a 1.33.xxx on another when nothing changed...?

I believe so. I got totally overhauled down the straight leading to the parabolica while leading by over a second.
It is frustrating!no point in racing to see who or what car is faster or better! If you can't race to see if you are fast or not...what is the point? I don't know if I am fast or not on this one...

Pokey2301

Edit: when you start to join a qm...at the bottom of the menu it shows if boost is on, this one is set to weak. I feel dumb now

if you are leading there is no boost, as far as I can say. The car slides a lot.
but if you fall behind, the boost turns on, and you have huge grip - so you can easily catch the pack.

Oh I easily caught the pack from 45 seconds but there is no fun in it for me

The only fun thing about boost is trying to hold the lead. Especially there, if guys are racing clean it can be done. Really helps your race craft. Setting up on the inside and making them take the long way, etc. I'm not a big fan of the boost events, but they can be ok.

I'm not a fan either but it does promote closer racing. Just take the lap times with a pinch of salt.
Whoo needs boost for close racing.

Expert level, and two considerate, consistent drivers.

That's a 464pp race so the racing should be closer by default. The Monza race is a gazillion pp and the better drivers would dominate it easily unless boost was on. I get your point though.

And it's great to have another driver to race with who will slow and wait, when you go off the track,
just to keep a close race.
We both went off a few times over a number of races, or accidentally drifted wide into one another and pushed each other off, so we'd slow down, get side by side again, and resume.

Hello
Beside the GSX ...what car is best for the trial event ???? Nsx good car with good setup..the gt40 60s model too
Can someone think about another car ??

Tried the GT500 Monaco race today with the Honda. Was following 2 guys in the tunnel and when it kinked to the right my back end came around. I have never spun in the tunnel at Monaco before so that was wierd...

I tried the Monaco race. Ended up getting sideways in the first corner and then spun before coming down the hill. Don't think those cars suit me too well.

I was running an '07 GT-R the other day that would have done well except I had a flat floor on it, and everyone passed me up the hill straight. The great advantage was being able to slide through the turns and use the 4wd to pull out of it.

I ran the usual suspects for trial mountain and got into the mix with the gixxers but there's something about 4WD on the reverse track. I'm way off the gixxer's pace with mid to high 33's (30.5 in GSXR) in them but they're planted on the line and very forgiving when you're dodging through the traffic. Especially for cutting inside for passes.

The GTR Tokyo Concept drops down to 323HP and 1275KG@500pp but with 7 gears, it's mental off the line and corner exits. Shocked a lot of people into mistakes with that car.

I run the nsx prototype .... 346hp for 1262kg nice speed in the straight over 210kph only the gixxers can overtake you......turn easy as long as u brake early and run middle 1.31 1.32

I prefer cars that can run 33's or slower so I can get some racing done. It rules out all of the quickest cars but with the mixed bag you see in this QM, you'll find someone running something similar to you. Had some epic races in the GTR against someone in a well sorted Pikes Peak Audi. Never more than .5 of a second off each other and having to use every inch of the track for 3 laps.

You might not know it but you've raced me a lot in there. Digtater ring any bells?:D

(Dug out the gixxer for 3 races at the end of last night's session and hit 29.5. It should get into the 28's.)

Tried out a few cars at Trial Mountain. I'm not using the GSX-R because the noise does my head in and it's not much fun on sports tyres.
The Alpine VGT is pretty fast but at 500PP it's got the life choked out of it. The power band is so flat it doesn't really matter what gear you're in and it's got almost limitless grip. Makes it a bit boring.
The GT40 and Miura are both fun and reasonably quick. I also tried an RX-7 and the Dino but they're not very competitive.
Nice to see a variety of cars being used. I was actually in one race with no gixxers at all but that didn't last. I've seen a couple of Tamora's doing surprisingly well and I got overtaken by a Suzuki Swift (hangs head in shame).
Lots of trouble getting and keeping a connection though. I keep getting booted after one race. I took a quick detour to Willow Springs but it felt very familiar. Have they started repeating QMs now?

I tried more Willow Springs last night. Got pretty pissed at one point. Got a bad start because my internet is horrible and lag makes the guy in front of me sit still off the line every time. Got behind some guy in an R35'S that was on the racing line, got to turn three and he starts braking hard way earlier than he should have with me right behind him. Slammed into him and went off track. Also had to slam on the brakes into turn to because of the same guy. Other than the lag and the people that make me look fast and experienced (which is saying something. I think my fastest lap was a 1:15.2xx), it was pretty fun. I refuse to do Trial Mountain because it's one of my most hated tracks. Monaco is a no go because I can't figure this cars out. The VW cup or whatever is easy, but I don't like FF cars.

Between the gixxer and HSV, it's hard to pick one that sounds worse. Both set my teeth on edge.

I managed to get the Dino into the 33s but it was very edgy with the tune I've got on it. If it could be tamed down a bit for the bumps it would be a decent contender, but the short wheel base...

The Esprit V8 GT is a good car to try. Sounds good growling on the grid among all the 4 pots and probably the best mid range power out of most of my cars. It can reel any car in on the back straight as well.

At first I thought this was a repeat of the very first QM's until I saw it was reversed but I was wondering where my tuned cars were from then. Switched to a 401-500pp range filter on car selection instead of the first choices (right pp-right tires) and found another 20 or so cars to choose from from one of the very first TM QM's. Result.:D

They've repeated quite a few QM's but there's pretty big roster to go through.

I refuse to do Trial Mountain because it's one of my most hated tracks.

My favourite track by far, closely followed by the reverse version. Give me a bumpy track and plenty of crests any day.
