Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Kind of sad the gt500 race is gone. Was enjoying that one.

Love group c at Monza, but boost being on makes that a no go.

Miata Cup cars it is
Only problem is that the Miata cup is ruined by SRF users - lap time is much faster with it on......

I'm liking the Rally cars at Cape Ring. Miata event could be okay. Supercharger action. Last time Miata event was at Cape Ring. Supercharged cars ruled. Boost on weak at the Group C event stinks. I imagine Lindon being a wall smash fest.

I ran London for awhile last night, and other than turn 1, it was ok. The cars seem to get strung out and its tough to catch up and pass. The best tactic seemed to be to pressure the fellow in front of me into an error. Hint: the Mitsu Evo is the best car

The Mazda event produced some great races with less than .5 seconds between 1st and 2nd place. What I saw last night, whomever has got the best tranny tune has an advantage. Really sad to see Midfield go....

@Daduce1947 (...and anyone else)

This is the Wedsport Celica tune I was using. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/resources/wedssport-celica-03.1423/reviews

Made by @GhostRider65 and it's a peach for quick match. Shrugs off a lot of bumps.👍
Thank you my friend:cheers:, after watching you blow the field of HSV's out of the water - or more appropriately - OFF the track as you flew by them (and me) from a last place start - HELL bent on the top step of the podium  👍👍 I had said - "OHH YEAH 'tater,, I gotta get me one a those!!" I bought one AND while in the Toyota shop I thought "I wonder how the '92 TOM's Castrol Supra would do?" so snagged one of them too. I tried a few set up's on the Supra on the practice track but couldn't get quicker than mid 1:06's,, which of course will not do. Ran out of time so didn't get to the Wedsport. With this information I'm excited to load it up, run some practice and see if I can get into the Midfield event. Had alot of trouble with Midfield yesterday - disco upon disco until I gave up and ran a couple at Panorama then logged out.. I did see you were driving the #'91 (or was it the #51) SRT Viper before I got the 'ol heave ho (disco)!!,, that hotrod can hold it's own! It has tons of torque at 600pp but my experience in either of them the higher skilled HSV driver's can do a number on it. In any event I like to drive them 'cause they're stable as a rock, can take the bashing pretty good and can get me a podium almost every time - sometimes even the top step which is a hoot! Anyway, THANKS again my friend,, hopefully I'll get to catch you in one of the QM lobbys.

I ran the Miata Cup for a couple of races last night. Didn't win any, but had some good racing. There was three of us with the exact same speed. One guy had shorter gears, so he walked away with the win. I was catching him in corners, but even if I got a better exit, he'd walk away on straights. All three of us finished where we started. I finally got enough money saved up to buy the $10M Alfa Romeo, though. Had to sell all of my cars, but I got it.

The Cape rally os pretty fun. Was the only Celica, its pretty fun and keeps up. Best lap after first try was 1;37 and something.

Lots of Evo x's . Must be the pp rating

Edit: after another Race, on the loop the Celica corners Faster than the evos. Got it pretty Stable at 168km/h.

I had a bit of a purple patch that night with the Celica and it seemed every move I tried against HSV's worked. It was bliss seeing them choke when they couldn't shake me off.:D

Tried the TOM's Supra myself but the best HP I could manage was about 530-540. A good and solid pack car but I didn't get anywhere near the top step in it until I took most of the down force off. The The Viper was the Team Oreca one and the only reason I used it is to get in the way of all the quick drivers. Brilliant to defend in and loves very late braking. Good for getting a few twitches from the people just in front and an opportunistic pass. I got in the 4's a few times with plenty of drafting though.

Always a pleasure racing against you mate.👍

Ditto my friend  It's always fun to hook up with drivers we know and trust playing QM. We've all met a great many really good, fast, CLEAN and QUICK international drivers which makes the online experience a real good time. Good enough we can ignore the dirty ones, however - on the dirty note - it seems those guys are nowdays few and far between. We hope GTS will continue the QuickMatch's,, they are fun, FAST credits (sometimes too fast!), and a great way to enjoy the game in a fast paced setting - no waiting around for guys n gals to fiddle with set ups, just hop in - belt up:tup:👍 and GET IT ON!

The guy walking away with it was probably running SRF.

Had one in the room tonight - the rest of us were doing 1:01/1:02 lap times, total race time about 4:18, the SRFer running sub -1 minute times, total race times 4:10.......

I suspect he felt lonely, whilst the rest of us had a good race!

He only finished about three seconds ahead and was only getting away on the straights. That's why I figured it was gearing.

What's everyone running in the Miata? I'm pretty consistently in the 1:01.7xx range with a somewhat mediocre tune.

I've only had one close race. I really wish things were categorized by speed, iracing style.

I'm not very fast and I'm just now getting into tuning (have no idea what I'm doing, so my tune is ****), but I believe my fastest was about 1:03.039

After running a handful I'm down to 1:01.4xx but I think there's a bit left in it. I can't get the balance right at all. Getting bad push on entry and then oversteer at mid corner. Balance changes on exit with oversteer on slow speed corners and push on sweepers. Oh well, it's a fun event.

When I started getting into league races back in GT5, one of the first cars I raced was the Touring Miata. Always had to go up against aliens but out of all the cars out there, I had my best performances in good old blue #4. I even won a league championship with it. :D

Unfortunately, not all the tune philosophies I used back then translate to GT6. However, I bought the Miata, painted it blue and used the same 3/5 brake bias I've always gone with along with a Stage 3 tune and aggressive gearing. Even with iffy handling and Tsukuba being a weak track for me, got it down to a 1:01.3 quick and won all the dozen or so races I entered. I'll need better suspension settings to crack the 1:00 barrier but I think I can get it there. I should since I have a bit of a reputation to uphold.

With the tune I tried to use, I'm getting understeer on entry, but no oversteer unless I really get on it coming out of the corners. The last sweeper is what kills me, though. I've hit it every way I can think of and I still feel like I'm going slow through it. Though I did race someone who was driving dirty earlier and he ended up going a little too deep in that sweeper and I cut under. He spun me and I crossed the finish line first...sideways. my buddy was watching that race. Never been so stoked about winning a race in my life. Reminded me of the Terry Labonte win in Bristol when Dale Earnhardt spun him around coming out of the last corner and he still crossed the line first.

tried first lap at Monza.
tyres were completely cold in the end of the 4 lap, seems that slide a bit more than usual... or am I alone?
Monza is my fav of this batch of QM. Ya just gotta remember you're on a default tune and have to drive accordingly and YES, I have noticed in this as well as other QM events, each day brings a slightly different handling track - some days it will be decent, 👍 some days not so much 👎 and we have to adjust. I like the two Nissans and the Peugeot best. The Jag is fast on the back and down the front but it's weakness is the corners, especially the first (Variante del Rettifilo) and second (Variante della Roggia) tight chicanes. With a good line you can take it coming out of turn 7 of the (Curve di Lesmo) curves. You'll see some dweebs cut corners 8, 9 and 10 which hands them a (not severe enough) penalty. If you nail these corners (Variante Ascari) well even though the cheater is lumbering along under penalty you can blow right by them and hold 'em off through the final sweeping right hander (Curva Parabolica) for a win. Go get 'em!

Ps; No way could I remember them so compliments to Wikipedia for helping me with the formal names of those corners <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autodromo_Nazionale_Monza>👍

The guy walking away could also just be fast with a well sorted ballasted Miata tune (Cape Ring tune works well here:tup:). I'm by no means super quick and I can run 4:10's. Had a best lap of 1:00.770, and best total time after several races of 4:09.046 (ABS 1 only).
Edit: Into the 4:08's now:D

You sound super quick to me! Still only seen this one person running sub-1 minute, although I'm now regularly seeing drivers doing low 1:01.xxx.

I've been using the Cape Ring tune too, with a couple of mods - as you say, it works well here.

 Probably reasonably quick at best, but a long long way off alien pace. I haven't seen any sub 1 minute laps yet but I have no doubt they could be done by the aliens or SRF users. A few were running similar pace to me, managed a 1:00.6xx (slipstream maybe?) chasing everyone's friend Veronica (1:00.7's) after getting a penalty(not from her) at turn 1. Surprisingly clean races although no overtaking was done, whoever got out in front early stayed there.

Haven't started tweaking my mongrel tune yet, I think a bit less weight might work for me here. I'm running 900kgs@ 50:50 weight distribution atm but I noticed much better lap times in the 111R at Rome with slightly less weight, so I'll definitely give it a go with the Miata as well (890kgs???). I was able to gain a lot of time in the corners and not loose bugger all down the straights in 111R, maybe it might work here too?

All in all, a fun combo, just not enough decent opposition:indiff:. The Midfield event was much better imo.

I've tried 890kg, and 900kg (which gives the best power:weight ratio at 3.81kg/bhp), and lap times are identical. I've tried using more weight too, but the car is reluctant to go round corners then!

I got my hopes up with the Mazda one make race but had them dashed when I saw the track. Tried one race and actually quit from first place, straight after starting my second lap. I despise that track so much.:yuck:

Went back to the rally cars again and had a lot more fun running the Peugeot. Dropping a smoke screen in the hairpins if there's a few dirty drivers and seeing the carnage happen behind me when they can't see. Had some great, clean one on one races against a few people though. Plenty of room to mess with different lines for overtakes so 2nd on the last lap is a big advantage.

1.37.757 was my fatest lap só far on the Celica on the rally QM. Any alien with a quick lap To set a goal Tô improve?

5.00.561 overall

I've run mid 37's in the Celica, Pug and Accent and squeaked into the 36's with the Focus and a 4:56 total.

I tend to lose a fair bit of time through scrubbing speed off with over driving though. Getting rusty with only driving at the weekend.
