Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

First of all big thanks for the friendly Welcome. I have two accounts that only differ in the numbers, I use my second one RocketJoe2-61 for QM racing.
What about finally making a second one ... as SherlockHolmes ?
Still not sure if I can be of any value among the great enthusiasts that you are ... time will tell I think.
Glad having arrived here.
You're fast, clean, and friendly - you'll fit in well here.

Not for a while now. Could be 12 years. 7 time class champ in 8 years. :sly:

Well, first post here after being a member and following GTP for a long long time. Hello to all of you that I had the pleasure to race with. Guess it was me who messaged you @StirlingMoose some time ago - I hope, things get clearer now for you. I always preferred messaging on PSN between the races, maybe this is the right time for getting present here on the forum as well. So ... hi everybody.

About bloody time you posted here. I've been trawling through the last few (dozen) pages and still couldn't work out who you were. Good to see you're not a gentlemen racer just for me too. Always quality race craft and a pleasure to share the track with.👍

The way he was saving the car, I suspect SRF. Could be totally wrong though. He was a bit of a dirty driver as you can see. Dude in the truck though, deserved the brake check.

He did indeed partner, he did indeed,, turn about is FAIR play. Well done!

Finally gave in and bought the digital GT6 after weeks of game and console lock ups. I expected the QM's to be just as temperamental but without the disk to read from, I was able to swap and change cars all night with probably a 8/10 success rate and the connections seemed to be a fair bit quicker. The rare times it failed to connect, the "entry failed" appeared quicker too plus I didn't get a single lock up all night. Cha-ching!

You sound like it's been a good deal, congrats.

Same trouble here that you described earlier ( long disc init times, ring on the disc, failed connections etc. ).
Does the download file contain the latest version 1.22 or did you have to run some update process after the install ?

Sadly not. It's 15GB for the game (I got the Anniversary Edition*) which isn't so bad but then you've got an hour or so to install it, then the updates on top.

*The Anniversary cars, paints, suit etc are automatically put into your download list. No code needed.

Tonight I went out in something that I think stood out from the crowd. The Mitsubishi HSR-2, with its 1950s comic book car of the future looks and broken boot catches, always amuses me. I hope it provided some entertainment for those behind me. It's not very fast overall but has tremendous grip under acceleration. I always struggle off the line, bogging down or spinning too much, but with this I could just floor it and and it seemed like the other cars were standing still.
Found a nice room with a good variety of cars and only a couple of well-behaved gixxers. If I'd used the GT40 I reckon I could have won a few but sometimes it's more fun when a podium is a good result.

I managed to get a couple of 2nd's in my DeLorean last night and even broke 4:50 for the first time but I was knackered using it. The only time I got to relax with it was when I was sat on the grid.

Found a surprisingly competitive car afterwards with the Diablo GT. I say competitive with a slight stretch of imagination as it will only run into the high 32's but it has huge grip and a decent (~135) top speed. Shame about the sound though...

Another awesome guy to race against if you run into him (not literally) on track is ra2_7002, Japanese flag, made driving an F40 look easy and knows exactly where your car is, sometimes more than me, first time I recall racing him he was outpacing me in his Honda family car, look out for him, he's great.

Tried the GT40 Mk I for acouple of races, its fast but after getting murderd by definatelyNotMOPARbarrett's RAM gave up for the day. Tried @kilesa4568 recomended M3 GTR, very difficult to seperate its performance from the CSL, down to prefference I suppose, but while racing it flat out up the hill, I heard what I thought was an articulated lorry behind me in the tunnel, turned out to be a Series 1, and thought I want one of those, the sound alone has made me add it to my favourites, the fact that it is also really fast and very driveable is just a bonus.
Met also @BenMillard 's firebreathing Integra too, it looked scary fast. Every now and then if you can avoid the crazies, you find yourself in the middle of a nice race

I agree on ra2_7002, that guy certainly knows what he's doing. I dueled for 3 laps with him in my CSL with no contact, literally door handle to door handle to the finish line. The first pic is on lap1, the second pic is lap 3. I finally passed coming through the tunnel, but it wasn't easy. He probably let me by

I started racing ra2 back when they did the Mazda Roadster QM. I make a point of staying in rooms I'd otherwise leave (trolls present...) when I see him in there. Always quality racing.

I tried the CSL last night but it didn't suit me as much as the GTR, even though it was a lot more stable under power. I think that may be the reason as I like cars I can steer on the throttle whereas the CSL had me trying to balance it. No doubting how quick it is but I like a wee bit of opposite lock in the corners.

Think you and I've been in the same room at some point tonight.....

The Nardo. a charm to drive :)

Read your post and had to give it a go. Did a few runs with it ( for the very first time ) and can confirm your impressions. A smooth and fast drive ... when you know how to navigate the "ship".
Definitely capable of sub 4.40 runs. 👍

The fastest I can get with this car is when I add 100 ballast at +50. The acceleration when exiting a corner is way better but the rear of the car is so loose, it's like driving on ice.

With this change, I can go almost a second faster on a lap and destroy the car the other lap!!!

For good driver only ;)

Got more than a few wins last night ( and some respect from a GIXXER driver ) with @mary ann 's Nardo. I needed to shift the weight to +30 and change the lsd settings to make it stabile in my hands. I was unable to get to the 4:40 mark, but I did get some 1:32 laps and my all-time best of 1:31.2xx. Thanks for the tune!

Tried @mary ann's Nardo tonight and very nice it is too. Easy to drive with very neutral handling, and quite quick. I haven't changed the settings yet. Next time I'm going to try the driving on ice mode. First room looked promising - pretty full and a good mix - but after two races it was down to six cars and I realised why. I recognised the name but it didn't click straight away. A gixxer driver (if I say it's a girl's name beginning with V you'll probably know who I mean) driving the wrong way, brake-checking on the straight and generally behaving like a 🤬. I gave it one more race, which I won but only because they were all messing about, then left, rather despondent. The next room cheered me up though. Full room and @ROCKET JOE was in there, also in a Nardo. We got a nice GTP one-two - I'm happy to play second fiddle to such a fast and clean driver - then one more race and I got disconnected. :banghead:

Hi StirlingMoose, with the ice mode, be gentle with the steering, don't be too quick when going left to right.

I know what you mean about @#!!! drivers, It take me about half an hour trying to find a good room.

And I saw a Nardo doing low 1:29, must be the icing mode :)

ice mode? what is?

Race-night with a Volkswagen.

Took out my new Nardo :-) for a couple of races yesterday. While the car has big potential and is ( surprisingly ) on pace with my beloved NSX-R LM, racing itself was not exactly satisfying. I still miss braking-points, smashed the car into the wall after the first chicane, had slow drivers
waving all over the track ( you know I do not overtake at any cost ), the usual rammers and, to top it all, met the canadian GSXRSRFSHORTCUTTINGSUPERTROLL who either wins or trolls the leading car ( which was me ). Puh ! In the end I did the first brake-check of my life :-) which was totally successful  ( I hope the FIA is ok with that though I will not apologise ).

What saved my day was to meet some of you boys and girls. Always makes me feel "at home" somehow ... and knowing that I can rely on my opponent alone makes racing great. Thank you all !

@mary ann and other Nardo drivers :
I skipped the ballast. I tried 0 / 50 / ice mode 100 kg. Differences were small, you gotta take care in the heavy car when running over the crest leading to the mainstraight, but the lightest car is fastest in my hands.

He's telling the truth - he was running 3 seconds a lap faster than I could manage in my trusty Elise last night!!

Good one RJ :)

I've given up on the 500pp's for a few days due to all of the trolling going on. I'm even thinking about changing the time of day I play to try and avoid the worst (regulars) of them...at the expense of losing out on the quality racing with you lot. Between them, they've turned the 500pp race into a farce in the last week or so and I refuse to share the track with the insecure attention seekers any more.

Roll on GT:S and the match making so I never have to see them again.

I know it's hard when trolling hits you too often, but stay relaxed ... and with us !
Let's pray to God ( or Kaz ) that match making / SR rating will work correctly.

I've had a couple of nights free of them somehow - in fact @ROCKET JOE and I were even wondering where all the GSXs were last night......

It's funny, up until last night I was thinking all the trolls had given up. I'd come across a few over-enthusiastic unskilled drivers and sore losers but not seen anyone deliberately spoiling the race for their own entertainment for ages. Stick with it, there are still good races to be had if you're lucky.

I wonder if that was in the room I got disconnected from at about 10pm. Shame I missed you if so. It was looking promising.

I'm usually offline by 9.30pm. Hope to catch you in a room soon though.

It's not as easy to get into a room currently, so leaving a room full of trolls isn't always an option either.....
