Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

I've had some fun times at Tsukuba too, running a variety of cars (but not the gixxer!).

Won all but one race the other night, using Garaiya, Elise, and RX500 - a few people had a go at knocking me off, but it's easy to avoid them here. Low PP means they come off worse when they shoot off track!

No chance of me visiting the Reallysucksuba race or the Red Bull Ring with it's twin layout for the people who find the corners just that little bit too sharp to bother with...

That leaves me an oval with a car I end up turning the sound down for or Willow Springs in cars I've never got on with.

/Dusts off gaming PC.
Come on be Brave & race añ old bald guy in an rusty MG i promise ill be gentale with you lol

I told you i was old spelt gentle wrong & posted twice.

I'd love to race you again but I've always hated (literally) Tsukuba. I don't know if it's the simplicity of the track or its looks but it's never appealed to me. Ever.

The Motegi race has got my interest this time around but I've been taking a few days off. Should be back on track by Friday/Saturday though.

SRF assisted gixxers were running deliberately slow laps at Tsukuba tonight, presumably so it didn't look as though they were running SRF........

Obviously didn't work though.

Don't know why they don't just stay offline in Free Run - they might as well as they're missing all the racing!

They make me laugh. Desperately trying to not look too quick.

Deliberately slow? Hey, that's my technique. :D

Rocket Joe and I ran a bit. That was good. The RX500000 was faster down the straight but I'd say slower everywhere else.
I got into 3 rooms, couldn't find you, and then couldn't get in at all - gave up and went to bed!

I'd been running the VX220 with some success, either winning or finishing second to one of the 'fast' gixxers in most races.

Haven't been on here for almost a week but no, I have not run a quadzillion laps on Motegi East.
Life's got its own master plan, I have done a quadzillion other things in the meantime and only
about 20 races with the RB Jr. ... Which was enough !
The Motegi event isn't too much about racing imo, the field splits up very quick mostly
and you do a special kind of time trialing. Boring !
Actually I'm very pleased though with my last race with consistent laps in the high 1.16 range
and an overall racetime sub 6.30.

@kilesa4568
You, me and a lot of others drivers I talked to wondered, how people can run 1.14 laps here.
That's why I did some final testing in arcade mode. Took the stock car, took it to the track, did
3 or 4 laps - the car felt identical to the QM car and laptimes matched as well.
Then I switched on SRF and did a 1.14.8 on the second lap.
I never ever expected such a big advantage 'cos the car has endless grip anyway ( like @suprajef
mentioned ). It's not the corner speed itself I think but the fact that you can keep revs a bit higher
which lets you gain all that time on exit and the straights.
Finally I asked @TRL_Andromeda via PSN to do some Motegi QM races and tell me ( or us ) his
thoughts, haven't yet heard from him however.

So with all that behind me I returned to Tsukuba yesterday night hoping for a full grid and some
intense racing. And guess what happened  :
Found myself in room 1 with no one else but @Draggon doing some fine relaxed laps with him
until we both quit for dinner.
Found myself in room 2 with no one else but @coryclifford doing some fine relaxed laps with him
waiting for other people to join in. But that didn't happen.
My guess is, with a great driver like EeePee listed everybody left again instantly after knocking
at the door ;).

@bone_tone
Would be fine to meet you some time around and have some grrreat RX500 battles .

Thanks very much for giving it a test.👍

My last couple of races saw my pb hit 16.7 and a 31.9 total so there's some parity there as I haven't done a full 5 laps perfectly yet. I can hit the apexes easily but as I said earlier, at the expense of scrubbing speed off. I was getting the gist of opening the steering earlier in the corners to carry more speed and even accelerate a bit on the way to the next but there's a lot of corners with 5 laps of Motegi. I should be able to chip away a fair bit of time with the new technique though.

As for the field splitting, I kind of like it if I know they're running similar lap times as it gives me something to chase, instead of holding position and settling. My best laps usually come like that too. It's unrealistic to think I can catch them when they have a big lead but if I put a fastest race lap up, I hope it'll make them look behind and start pushing again. You never know, they might make a mistake...:mischievous:

Those SRF times help a lot.👍

I still refuse to race them when they're using SRF so I know who to gift the pass. No point in defending against them at all.

I tried, as mentioned in my earlier post, once @coryclifford let me know he'd found you in a room.

Hopefully soon!

Interesting that you work on that. It's hard with a DS3 / without FFB.
It took me years to just realise that opening the steering on corner exit helps a lot 💡 ... no joke - and I'm still struggling from time to time.

Hello .........

hello friend....... the worst is not that they bring a gocart but they cant drive clean ..... why ???
It's odd isn't it - they choose the fastest car, they drive with SRF on, and then they drive dirty too.

Having said that, at least the ones I was up against last night were waiting their time before overtaking where it was easiest.

Ok tried some offline without the aids and similar lap times for me when I did the qm's. Turned aids on and instantly improved by over 1.2 seconds on a not so great lap! I consider myself to be decent so now I am going to do some qm's and see who really is fast...

Yep, this. ^

However, it's still hard to say who 'is really fast'.
You need to clearly detect if SRF is on and you need some kind of judgement from
one of the top drivers what is possible without it.

It was weird, I did 3 races with it on staying behind 2nd place...then when someone started pushing it. I chased and had a hard time keeping up. Looked at my aids and I lost them and went back to my regular times

1.16.2xx without
1.14.9xx with

I certainly enjoyed that. It was great racing with someone I could trust, and not worry about being punted right and left. You are definitely a lot faster than me, I think I was holding you up that first race!

As for SRF, I got tired of the gixxers so turned it on to see what the outcome would be. I was getting high 1:02's in a Clio V6, easily 2 seconds plus faster than without it. At first it was fun, thinking in my mind that the opponents must think I'm an alien, but that got old pretty quick.

What ?
A buggy room / bad connection ?
You lost your settings during a race ?

When I enter a race with a new garage car first thing I do is set TCS 0.
Sometimes I encountered that when I get dc'd before the race starts, I have to do these
settings again ... thinking of a buggy room / bad connection.

I usually over drive normal cars and found out the hard way with the Red Bulls that they really don't like it. They like finesse and I'm woefully short of that.

I'm reasonably happy with my pace now. I can make a race of it with most people and know I can dig deep for a few more tenths if I can get my act together.👍

I guess, went back to get srf on and it worked, got a 1.14.9xx online after quite a few beers keeping up with some Japanese and 1 German lol

It is real easy to see who has srf on in this race, at best without aids I could do a high 1.15.xxx

Average without is a low 1.16.xxx

You've already cracked the .16 ? If yes, respect !
And who was that fellow German ? Come on - describe it without naming him ( what a funny little game ) ...

:D:tup:

Good driving Joe. I assume that's your name... Anyways, you get a

That ^ is nice, I thank you, Cory :).
Joe is an abbreviation ( first three letters ) of my irl first name which sounds plain horrible .
I always hated it and most English natives would struggle badly with its pronunciation.

YEAH .... and because i drive without srt or active steering ...a mosquito can make me spin if it touch me in a corner..... so i cant fight in corner ..... if i fight i have more chances to spin or lost it if i touch the grass and i HATE that
