Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Haven't done any QM's for a while due to an erratic controller (dillema, buy 'another' controller or explain to Mrs B why buying a PS4 is vital for the families future), I did however receive a message from TurboTina telling me to stop driving like an idiot, told him/her that I was watching YouTube for the final response from him/her 'lucky you're not on track with me'
With GT Sport and PCars 2 coming to PS4 soon and many other good driving games already available I would be trying to convince Mrs B, your families future most certainly depends on it. :D

Plus the PS4 controller is backwards compatible with PS3 so you can still play GT6 in the meantime

Had the rare privilege of sharing a room with @kilesa4568 tonight, and it reminded me of how few of the regular GTP names I come across in the QMs - I probably see @ROCKET JOE more regularly than anybody else.

Time online may explain it to a certain extent, but when people post screenshots I often see the names there of others that I race against quite regularly.

Unfortunately I seem to see all of the same 'problem' driver's that the rest of you have the misfortune to meet...... :boggled:

This is how Reliant racing is done round my way.

@ROCKET JOE - Saw you in the Fiat 500 tonight. I can understand why you gave up with that room. In my first race I came 9th. It wasn't my finest effort but it was still under 5 minutes. You should have stuck around. I'm sure we could have got you up the order. I could have given you a push on the straights and brake-checked a few of the back-markers. I had some fine races in that room, particularly with a fellow Brit called xzydon (or similar) in a Nardo. Very good clean racer. Later a couple of gixxers turned up who I know well and are a right pain. Not trolls, they are both reasonably good. Good enough to catch and pass me when they get some luck, but not good enough to pull away once they are in front. Then they start making mistakes and holding me up while I watch the cars I really want to race with pulling away.
I have a new favourite (maybe second favourite) car in the Shelby Series One. It's not as fast as the GT40 or the Nardo but it's fast enough and very driveable in nip and tuck situations. I had a couple of races with @coryclifford (back to the dark side I see) earlier on, and the magic orange Mazda RX500. Now you've seen it close up do you reckon srf? It's amazingly quick.
@kilesa4568 I enjoyed our head-to-head the other night. (We cleared the room) Shame the handy Elise didn't hang around. I think I had the better car.

I was wondering if telepathy was being used by you as every time I tried to set a pass up, you'd already countered it. Good fun though. You had me scratching my head looking for a way through.

You definitely had the better car as well. Rock solid in the corners while he was feeling the pace waggling his car with unforced errors. A good fair (hard) racer from what I saw though. No doubt we'll see him again in one of the big guns, getting some payback.

To everybody:

I switched off my PS3 at around 11 unable to concentrate on driving anymore rofl.
What a funny and entertaining night this was here on the forum, haven't laughed
that much in quite a while, no fake news.

To my Fiat 500 F '68:

My dear. Think I'll lose on my challenge ... unable to match requirements in 1 race.
Ur a neat little car but it's hard racing heavyweights with ya. I'm totally ok
with being slower ... back-markers aren't. They're impatient. Won't wait 1 sec
or 2 for a clean pass. They've spun us out 4 times in 4 consecutive races.
Ya knew that ?
What ? Yeah ... I'm a noob, right ! The first chicane is make or break, crucial to
the laptime. I either slow down too much or make ya kiss the wall. Well, if you
weren't sub 500 kg, that nasty curb wouldn't let ya take off like a rocket -
doesn't make things easier.
Any suggestions ? No ? Thought about testing an Abarth, how 'bout that, my dear ?

@StirlingMoose
Thank you for offering 'help'. Actually, a Russian gixxer-driver wanted to speed
me up on the backstraight once - misinterpreted him though, made a move to
the left to give him an easy pass and messaged him after to apologise. Bad luck  !
Anyway, my driver's pride wants me to do it on my own ... and I'm sure
you understand perfectly.
If memory serves me right, the magic orange Mazda RX500 has a red / white flag.
If so, I've met her a few times on TM and many times before in other races ( where
SRF was easier to detect ) that I'd call her notorious ( the name indicates a woman ). 👍

This did not go as I explained it to.

Yea, it's actually quite annoying you can't flip your car online at all, be it a QM or a lobby. Shame really, as it's been the same since GT5, I remember driving a stock DC2 around Deep Forest, having a laugh with mates, getting it on 2 wheels over the kerbs, and then being disappointied I couldn't roll it over like I did offline.

The car just seems to reach a "terminal angle" if you will, like it did on older GT's, particularly GT3 and 4, where it was most noticeable, whilst a relatively minor discrepancy, it's a shame really, not a game breaker, but it's quite irritating nonetheless. Wouldn't have thought rolling over would affect things alone, like slowing the connection down, or affecting physics, or anything silly like that, so it's odd you can't roll online really.

The new races look interesting. The 400 pp event should be tight racing and the Ram should be fast because of many low speed acceleration zones. I have one more Specialtatin' from the old events, and I'm sure there will be quite a few from the new events as well.

Looking promising so far...

Had a quick go at Tsukuba in a Nissan 240ZX (I think), did two 1m7s laps (way off the pace of the three Gixxers in the race (about 61 seconds) but had 5 laps of rubbin and racing with an RX7 which was pretty fun. I have loads of low PP cars that I don't use, so plenty of variety available. Maybe an MX5 derivative next up

No chance of me visiting the Reallysucksuba race or the Red Bull Ring with it's twin layout for the people who find the corners just that little bit too sharp to bother with...

That leaves me an oval with a car I end up turning the sound down for or Willow Springs in cars I've never got on with.

/Dusts off gaming PC.

Having said the other day that I rarely see other GTPers, in the same room tonight with @Daduce1947, @coryclifford, and @BALDY500 !

Some really good racing - we even managed a 1,2,3,4 in one race as a show of solidarity.

Was a good room until the SRF users showed up.......
Indeed it was loads of FUN!! Bone in his Nardo, Baldy (can't remember which car but wasn't a GXR!) charged (cleanly!) to the front of the pack  and proceeded to show a bunch'a GXR's how it's done! We also had EeePee in the room with us but his little Honda Civic had loads of traction issues - spinning it's SH tires hard! (my guess is he's working on the set up 'cause it was hitting over 130mph on the uphill, pulled away from my 330+hp RX Bathhurst handily!). Anyway, we did have a GTP posters 1, 2, 3 and 4 finish in one of the races and that was way too cool! Unfortunately for me,, I had a server crash from my end that ended my play for the afternoon. I had been playing for a couple hours so shut the PS down for awhile to take care of a few "honey-do's" for my Wife. It's Thursday, I've not yet logged in on the PS or checked GTP to see if they've given us NEW QM's but will as soon as I've checked all my alerts. Thanks again bone_tone and the other GTP regulars for some really fun racing yesterday. Hope we can get lucky and gather in another QM one of these days!! 👍👍

Yes, it looked like the fwd Civic was hard to get off the line, whereas Baldy's 4wd Nissan took off like a rocket!

I agree, hope we all meet again some time :)

I ran a handful of races with @MOPARbarrett5 last night, with a Toyota MRS. I barely got past the Ram to win the first race, but the acceleration of that thing proved way too formidable. The next few races it was him in first, me in second, with the rest of the field out picking daisys or something. Then gixxer showed up and gapped us 3 seconds a lap. We were running 1:05-1:06 laps and that stupid buzzing bee did 1:02's. Maybe he had SRF turned on.
