Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Yea and thanks for the win you were way faster than me,but all good clean fun.you must have been sober the speed you are going lol
I'm sometimes faster after a glass of red.......:)

Looks like Tsukuba is the best option for me this time - racked up a few wins with the old VX220/Speedster, plus a few more with an Elise. It appears that non-SRF assisted GSX may not be the fastest car here for once, seems to lack top speed down the back straight.

Some of the usual troublemakers have already made an appearance though......

Think I found a great car for Tsukuba :)

Dual-Shock, no aids, TC-1
Fastest lap: 1:03.7

Great to finally have a new batch of QMs .

I like the tuner events most so I gave the Tsukuba race a go first ( though the track isn't one of my favourites :-).
Didn't want to use one of the usual suspects this time and grabbed my Lancia STRATOS '73.
With a @GhostRider65 tune it was quite competitive and can sure be a bit of a surprise.
It's got good acceleration, good top speed, is a fun to drive ... and looks cool imo  !
Both car and driver still need some tweaks so I think I can improve on my 1.04.2 lap and 5.29.2 run.

And ... in case I want something more thrilling once in a while ...
I got a fully tuned black Fiat 500 F '68 in my garage :D.

@mary ann
Your 'TC' = traction control ?

You might get to use you Fiat 500 on this track, probably better suited to it.

Impressive time with the Stratos, best time I've managed so far has been 5:28.9xx - have a good range of cars set up, but looks like I'll have to try @mary ann RX500.

I had traction issues alrighty. Pretty much at all times, and if I wanted I could light up the tires for almost the entire lap. Fun but not fast.

Good to see familiar names of people I like instead of names of people I don't like. 👍
Ah HA!! I had forgotten our good bud CoryClifford is in actually EeePee ! 👍👍 I agree partner, I saw the tire smoke as I chased you up the hill and through the tunnel. That tire shreading little Honda was (for you) as we straight liners call it - a wild ass'd pedal fest! :scared: but you did good to get it to the finish line - ahead of many of the others.

We had our usual Geezer Rocking Chair races yesterday so tried each of the NEW events only once just get a feel for them. Tsukuba - I don't remember which car I tried but I do remember I got my you know what handed to me on a platter but das OK,, as Arnold said - "I'll be back!" One of my Geezer buds said he's having good success with the S2000 so I'll likely give it a go in that car for starters. First impressions of this group,, I can't say I like any of them BUT, I didn't like the last batch at first either SO,, giv'n all of them another few trys to see which one I'll "learn" to enjoy. O know most all of you will join me in saying - HURRY UP October 17 and 18!!

The others couldn't see through the smoke, that's why they couldn't get past!

My favourite Canadian GSX man turned up at Tsukuba and trashed the room last night, before he turned up some nice races with a couple of Lotus, S2000, ra_ in a Daihatsu and a South American gixxer, the gixxer usually won but he didn't run anyone of the road, he'd usually win in around 5m20's or quicker if the rest of us didn't fall over each other, first cars though would be under 5m30.
P:censored: or whatever his name is turned up and after he won his first race in 5m27 (in a gixxer!!!), he wasn't winning and the race win time plummeted to around 6 minutes while he went crazy. Ruined it, dissapeared and was seemingly replaced by a lunatic in a Mitsubishi 3000GTO, I resorted to making him pay, enjoyed handing out the retribution a little too much (two races) and quit.

Well, I got a couple of races in (Red Bull Jr) this afternoon and found I'm way off the pace. My line seemed to be the same as the front runners but they were running laps almost 2 seconds quicker. The best I could do was a 17.3 (no drafting) but I saw people run 15.4's. I even ran one race from 3rd on the grid and straight into 2nd, hit every apex, the car didn't step out once and I still only hit 6:35. I should be able to chop 2 or 3 seconds off my total time but I've no idea where to find that much time in a single lap.

I know I'm a fair way off being quick but I didn't think I'd be that far off for a one make race. It's got to be me at fault as I couldn't see anything wrong with all the fast driver's replays either. Maybe with using a DS3, I'm scrubbing too much speed off in the corners but then again, I'm only a mile or two per hour slower in the quick corners compared to them. Kind of stumped.

No British understatement, pls, you remember ?

May sound stupid ( or is stupid ) :
Checked driving aids ?
Checked for red front tires on the fast cars while cornering ?

Others using SRF maybe?

I thought it might have been SRF but the replays were seriously inconclusive. Swapping view from their car to mine in 2nd during the replays looked exactly the same, only they were a good .5 or better in each section.

After making myself look a tit with dogmarrs last time, I've got to give the benefit of a doubt first.

Maybe I'm being too violent with the steering through the fast sections or the wrong gear (auto gears) in a few corners that I didn't spot in the replays.

If I can smooth the inputs, I may be able to hit mid to high 16's and try and draft to a quicker lap...that is, if I can hang onto a draft.:boggled:

I'll put a good session in tonight and see what I can do.

With Tsukuba being business as usual - you can have the ( second ) fastest car in the world, a top setup and your
best driving performance ever, you can not beat a decent driven gixxer - I think I move over to Motegi for a while.
As soon as I have got this "Damn ... hah they doin' it" thing ticking through my head, I get ambitious to find out.
Sgt. Joe is ready for the Task Force East Course :).

I noticed that the faster drivers turn in very hard, quite similar to how many SRFers do.
Gonna try to perfect this as a first approach - no idea where it gets me.

The pt Cruiser, Isuzu 117 coupé and the Civic are so far are pretty competitive, and fun.
My best cars for the 400's pp os the latest Civic on the game, doing mid 1:05's on the first try. I know i'm not that fast, so its good

Had a couple of hours this afternoon and think I know where I'm going wrong. I'm just not going fast enough with scrubbing too much speed off.

There seems to be a good side to it though as there seems to be 2 distinct groups of runners. The people running the very low 30s times and people running very tidy times around the 33-35 mark, and that's where I'm sat with a tidy run. With a lot more practice, I should be able to improve on my 16.9 lap time by 2 or 3 tenths and a chance of putting the quicker guys off. Hopefully...

Finally meet the Canadian driver. He made four attempts to hit me and... he missed all of them. So I went to another room...

8th on the grid, two American gixxers in the front row, good, Took me two laps to get behind them and... the second gixxer pushed me off track and I got a five seconds penalty, he did the same scenario three more time and I finished third, 8 seconds behind the leader with a total of 14 seconds penalties.

I did check the winner total time and know I'm a lot more faster than him but I didn't want to spend an hour fighting with kids. No more babysitting!!!

I'm done with Tsukuba. Btw, I wax using the RX500. Best lap 1:02.9 ;)

...700 miles later, I've got a 16.8 lap and a 6:32.2 total time. Saved my 10 best runs to see my purple sectors and saw a theoretical 16.4. Still over a second off the quicker drivers but I figure I'm close enough to keep them on their toes and should be able to safely defend against their better corner speed. A tough race to set up a pass so there's hope.

Saw a Japanese driver run a 6:24.5 though. I can't defend against that.

Thought I'd try out the new 400PP QM the other day, having not been on GT6 for a little while, love the lower PP QM's; namely 500PP and below, and was pleasantly surprised to find some pretty solid racing. As expected at this level, there seemed to be a good level of variety, and there wasn't that many GSXR's to boot either, with the most I saw being 4 (at least that was the case in the room I was in).

The racing itself also seemed to be very solid, with the exception of a couple of typical GXSR drivers who clearly lacked the driving manners, and a Chilean chap in a DC5 Integra, who seemed to have downright road rage .

However it was a pleasure to come across the perennially quick and clean driving Ra2_7002 again, this time in his very rapid Alpine A310. I decided to take out my rather nippy, but rather waggly-tailed (but huge fun) MGF :D.

Tsukuba Circuit_2.jpg

As is ever the case with Ra2_7002, the race was very much clean, and very close at that, as he kept me honest (or nervous ) for the duration of the race, sticking to my backside throughout, but it seemed I was just about quick enough in the key areas to keep him behind, and in the end I got a rather unexpected but welcome 3rd place.

Pace wise, I was able to run solid mid-pack usually, sort around the 5th/6th mark, running high 1:05's/low 1:06's, with my best being a 1:05.8 I think. Though with a little tweaking on the setup, and the driving, I would surely be able to go quicker, as usually my MGF is ran at the 450PP mark.

Also, managed to come across another GTP'er for the 1st time in a long time, in the form of @Draggon, aka G_ASHER in his MG TF160 which was nice to see, as it'd seem usually end up missing all you fellow GTP'ers, though I am one of the later ones .

Yes, it was good racing with you. Pretty cool that we both had MG's. It was funny, I hadn't checked the entry list before the race, and when the camera scrolled through the field just before the start, I saw your car and thought "what the.....I didn't paint mine that color". What times do you race? I'm usually on before noon and after 7 or 8pm PST.

Haha, yea it was pretty neat to see another another TF, t'was like the battle of the MG's, and yours was also red too (albeit a different shade), adding to the coincidence .

Well I'm usually on after 9pm GMT, most of time 'till about 1/2am, which considering I'm 7 hours ahead(?), usually means I often coming off, if not off already just as you and many other fellow North American GTP'ers here are coming on in the evenings your time.
