Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Very odd session tonight - It started off with our French/Portuguese srf-using friend beating everyone by 10s, then getting bored and going into the lay-by after the tyre bridge and showing off by overtaking everyone again. As if anyone was impressed. Next room I got brake-checked on the straight by a gixxer, so chased him down, ran him off the road and quit. Next room I got brake-checked on the straight by a Mini and pushed onto the grass on the straight by a gixxer. Said gixxer must have done something upset hsh_ too, because in the last race hsh_ didn't move off the line, just waited for the gixxer to come round, and battered the hell out of it until he got a penalty, three laps in a row. Is it a full-moon or something?

With this batch of QMs being not that great, my neighbor being on a boat trip at the German ( lake ) Bodensee and my kids in the Alps
with their mom, I jumped at the opportunity to get prepared for future PS4 / GTS times. Been heavily busy for days now installing additional
network cabling in my appartement ( the engine sound of my Bosch power drill is just wow ! ) for the new console and TV, pre-ordering
the Steel Book Edition, ordering DS4 thumb grips, doing a bit of PSN account management etc. etc. :D

Hope to be back on track with you soon :) ... I really start to miss it !

Hello there folks. Been lurking around this thread since the last Trail Mountain QM trying to find out info about which cars people are using, tunes & general tips, that sort of thing. Saw Rocket Joe was a member here who I had already befriended (Damn fine racer & clean) & said earlier on I had been reading his & you guys posts. He suggested I join in & contribute so here I am.

My user name online is Sid_Neigh & if I've bumped into you or caused you to end up facing the wrong way in the kitty litter then I do apologize wholeheartedly. I try to be clean & fair. Only been playing online since about March I think but have been playing GT since it first came out on the PS1. Well that's enough about me.

It was on these pages I learned the awful truth. I had never heard of such a thing as the SRF glitch before, I never used the thing in the first place. If I can get away with it the only aid I use is ABS & if I have to a touch of TC. So I had to test this out for myself, so set up free run & did a bunch of laps 'till I was getting consistent lap times then turned SRF on...Bloody hellfire! Instantly faster lap times by quite a bit. So that's how some folks who I could see couldn't drive sheep were getting insane lap times. I put it down to a great tune & using a wheel. It all makes sense now.

Didn't do many of the Trail Mountain QMs as I got the right hump with all those pests who kept cutting the first corner chicane, kind of spoiled it for me. Been doing the Tsukuba QM mostly in a RX500 these last few days. Got a tune from here & fiddled around with it a bit. Using a DS3 on auto gears, the best I've got is a 1:03.6xx. Only once. Mostly low 1:04s or high 1:03s. Can keep up & sometimes beat the gixxers who are decent enough pilots unless of course they are employing the SRF glitch.

So anyway, hope to see you peeps on the race track for some quality racing soon.

Cheers
Sid

63 second laps are enough to be an irritation to most gixxer drivers 👍

Hi Sid, there you are, great  !

63 second laps are enough to be an irritation to most gixxer drivers ...

This ^.

The moment you messaged me yesterday night I was trying to pilot my RX500 around Tsukuba as smooth and fast as usual :D,
happy to have the most of my new tech toys working , but ... what a mess :scared:, I'd say "unterirdisch" ( "subterrestrial" ) :scared::scared: !!!
With a four times larger picture and different sound I lost orientation ( and confidence ) somehow, routines got blown away and I
felt like a noob. Met hsh_ in his Series 1 in one race who suddenly gave me a free pass. He must have thought "RJ is drunk, I
better get out of his way." ( You done right m8 , I probably would have spoiled your race. )

So ... I have to do some practising again before entering the next race - thought about giving the Tsukuba TT another go ;).

Any friend of @ROCKET JOE is a friend of ours - welcome!

Oh, was I doing any good? :D

Thanks for the warm welcome folks, much appreciated.

Was trying out that Lotus Elise 111R tune on the previous page today. Lively little number & goes like stink. Got a 1:03.6xx early on & it wasn't a perfect lap. Like it. Tried out the Garaiya '02 last night & was only a few hundredths off of getting into the 1:03s. Liked that car too.

If anyone has any suggestions for cars I should be having a butchers at then fire right in, I'm all ears.

Ferrari Dino with minimal tuning does 64s, I tickle the high 63's if I have my act together, I've seen good drivers do mid-low 63's, but it like poop off a shovel up the straight which again, annoys the hell out of the gixxer crazy gang, the good guys just pass me around the outside of any corner they choose :D

I'll give that go later on mate, thanks. Bit flustered at the mo.

Just had to block someone there. Was getting a lot of abuse from a guy in the same car as me, the Elise. Passed him just after the last hairpin because he made a mess of it & got the lead, the next lap he steamed right in to the corner where no space existed & bumped me off the track & took off in the lead. Well...Set off after him & two laps later repaid the favour & got back the lead. Didn't like it one bit he did, didn't like the taste of his own medicine & after the race started messaging me.

Next race he sat at the end of the back straight on the apex of the final corner & tried like hell to sab me. Still won. Then he went nuts with the messages. Had to abandon ship & come out the race to tell him to shut up. He used the f word a few times, didn't know you could send that. Obviously a very young child with an over inflated ego.

Not had any of that kind of nonsense in a while. Didn't like it one bit. Keep trying to goad me by calling me chicken, hahaha.

Oh well, think it's beer o'clock. Cheers.

If you were in a Gray-ish RX500, we had some close races. I think I was using my White '96 Elise. Yea, I know, not many of those around!

I always use a matte green body & gold wheel rims. I don't know why, just think it looks good. If I can get a number on the car I always go for 67, birth year.

Aye I suppose the matte green could look kind of grayish.

Well, already met @Rizla (aka Sid_Neigh) in a room, together with @Mwerte - we managed a few GTP 123s in our 111Rs, showed a few gixxers the way! Think we're all using the same tune, so it made for some good races :)

That was some good racing. Got a couple of 1 2 3 podiums between us right enough. 👍

Can't believe how late you can break in the 111rster & still reel it back in when you over cook it. What a magic wee car. The bees knees.

Enjoyed that very much lads.

Yes, I remember you now, just don't remember how the racing went. :indiff:

Me either, was to busy trying to keep on the grey stuff with the new ride. I have raced against you before, I do remember seeing your name on more than one occasion this last 6 months. Just hope I wasn't flying into the back of you & messing up your race.

It's the fastest real car - the GSX and the RX500 only being concept cars!

Ah, right. Got you know.

Had read the gixxer was a motorbike with 4 wheels... funny joke analogy. Didn't get why some folks thought the RX500 was a bit fake or a cheat. Now I know. A pal of mine a few months ago told me about the RX & said it looked like a bread van from behind??? We don't have bread vans up here in Glasgow so I took his word for it.

Mazda only made one RX500, but they painted it 3 different colours for the motorshows that it appeared at, so it looked as though they'd got more than one!

Just typed "Mazda RX500" into google and before I had finished typing, up came the word concept & a load of photos. Well what do you know?

Not one of the photos were in matte green with gold wheel rims...Bugger. The rotters.:lol::lol:

👍

Close though
