Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Not sure if I love being overrated :odd::lol:.

Keep it just like that Joe, under promise and over deliver, humble too, a combination to aspire to at any age or status 👍

Traction control in a 458? Never!:D

Funnily enough, I got 2 SRF accusations by people I passed on opposite lock. Not sure I'd be able to do it with SRF on without a tank slapper getting involved.

Methinks they protest too much, last night one guy spent four races clobbering me at every opportunity, wound up at the back of the field every time, but with a minimum 14 cars in the field the opportunity for some fun was never far away, the guy dissapeared for two races, came back and went from 67s laps to 63's within a couple off races, he still kept trying to smash me (and anyone else) out of the way, so I didn't think he'd be receptive to my enquiries about any improvement , I had a whale of a time and got a 3m20 race time to cap it all

That doesn't look suspicious at all.

Tokyo's dropped off a little lately so I'll be popping in more often. I reckon I'll stick with the pause racing though. Dropping to the back on the starts and hiding lap times in the traffic doesn't put as big a target on me. I can get some extra improvised passing done as well.

The 458 Grand Valley race is pretty good. Drove for a few yesterday. Had the usual one to three dolts but with a full field it was still pretty good. In that full field, I was the only one not using traction control, if the starting line peel outs prove that to be true.

It would probably make me a little bit quicker through the slow corners but it would take too much of the fun away. I wish I could take some of the weight off though. Way too easy to overwhelm the front tires.

Megane's: I've run a 07.3 total but I haven't had my 39 yet. Lots of frustrating 40.0x laps but I'll get there...eventually.

On a side note, my missus said my GTS bundle should be here next week. She found a (much) cheaper caterer and had enough cash left over to order one. Cha-ching!

I think the food at the vow renewal might be a packet of crisps and a glass of pop now, but hey, we all have to make sacrifices.

PS4 is in the house, the Mrs says I have to leave it till Christmas, I'm going to arm wrestle her to overturn the decision

I was going to wait but now that they're changing the daily races to erm...daily, they might make a decent QM alternative. Have you checked a few videos on youtube of them? They make day one of a tuned car QM look tame.

If the arm wrestle doesn't go well, I'm sure you know where she's hidden it. Possibly a bout of sleep walking until Christmas?

Daily races are ok but...

1. They change daily. At the moment I'm finding that it's not long enough to find a car you like, tune it if allowed, and get used to the new car and new track. This will get better as I learn the tracks and get to know which cars I like. They are going to have to start repeating soon - there's not many tracks and classes. I'm sure before long I'll have a selection of favourite cars with set-ups for various tracks.

2. When the race ends the room closes and you have to wait about five minutes for the next one. Matching is done again so you don't necessarily end up racing the same people.

3. Matching is done on driver rating so you generally end up racing with people on the same rank as you. This is ok but it's very easy to drop down with a bit of bad luck. You may find yourself having to work your way back up again occasionally.

4. They are regional so no racing with mates from other continents.:( Friends-only rooms may be the way to go but it wasn't working last I heard. The rooms just fill up with randoms as soon as they are open. They will probably fix this soon though.

The car selection is dire at the moment. Too many VGTs and modern race cars. I'm hoping for some interesting DLC. On the up side - No Gixxers.

I literally hate race cars and love 'normal' road cars, would you say GT Sport (at the moment) isn't really for me?

It's about 70% race cars and VGT, and the normal cars are not particularly inspiring. The racing is heavily biased towards race cars. It's the nature of the game at the moment. Things may improve but I'd say it's not the game you are looking for yet.

Cheers for the info 👍

That's the facts 👍 ...
And how do YOU do in the races ?
Greetz from a temporary racing exile, RJ.

Hi RJ. I've not had much time recently so I've only done a few races and my driver rating is still low so it's been pretty easy, generally starting on pole and not having much competition. What competition there has been has been good and clean. I don't know what's going on further back though. Lots of new players. I've not seen any familiar names on track yet, maybe when I get my ranking up. I know @Daduce1947 and @Mwerte are playing but I've not met them yet.

Good info. Thank you.👍

Track and car choice aside, I'm really looking forward to it. Lots of free time means I'll be able to hit the game really hard too.

One thing I haven't found any info on, how wide are the driver rating bands? Does it take a long time to improve on them?

I'll let you know when I improve. My sportsmanship rating has gone up by one rank in about half a dozen races without hitting anyone. My driver rating hasn't gone up yet and I guess my average placing has been P2-P3. From what I've heard it's pretty volatile and you can go up and down quickly. Hopefully if they've designed it right it will be averaged out over your career so it will settle down once you've got a good few races under your belt.

Sounds like I should temper my racing for a while then. Play it safe till I get into the cleanest rating I can reach.

Cheers bud.

I'm like you, haven't come across any familiar names in races yet. Have had some great races nevertheless, seen some stupidity but not as much as is being reported.

I'm struggling with lap times, 5 or 6 seconds off the top 10 times sometimes, but that's less of an issue whilst I'm still in the lower rankings!

Hi everyone, it's a bit I do not write but I'm dedicated to GT Sports!
The purchase of the ps4, the G29 and the game will leave me for some time in bread and water.
What I can tell you about the new chapter is that : for people like us who love to play in the egames, it's perfect. The only negative is the division on three continents and we Europeans can not play with Americans or with the Japanese.
It remains only the way of the private rooms that I have experienced, not without difficulty, with friends geezers and it seems to work well, even though I can not hear their chatter for now!
Every day there are three eraces in three different classes of vehicles, in addition to the FIA test championship (one race a day at different times) and a sort of world championship that I still have to understand.
The division of the drivers for driving skills and tracking behavior may seem difficult at the beginning for the usual strange penalties, like in GT6, but, going ahead, reach higher rankings and match pilots correct as you and races take place fluid in almost all cases.
My effort to write all this was too high ..! the second episode in the future.
I'm hoping to meet Sterling, Colin, Rocket , bone tone or Digtater in the races sometime ... soon

Stirling, I can assure you that climbing with ranking, for example A-S like mine, it's very very difficult to win a race !!!

I can believe it. Even in the lower ranks there are some good racers. In GT6 QMs I got to know the names of most of the good drivers (Most of them were posting on this thread), but there are a lot of good racers on GTS that I've never met before who I guess are coming from pCars, AC and other games. They certainly aren't novices. I'm going to try to do some racing with the geezers soon so hopefully we will meet up.

I got mine today and had a good look at the single player bits and bobs but I'm a few days away from racing online. I found out that my PS3 buttons aren't available (R2 accelerate and square for brake) so I've had to start getting used to L2 for brake. Slow but sure progress but after nearly 500 miles, my left index finger has turned into a hook. I'm going to spend a few days getting used to all the new tracks and then give the racing a shot at the weekend. I've only got a couple of hours worth of single player stuff left to do so I guess I'll have to hit the arcade mode. Do you get mileage points etc from arcade mode or is it just for fun?

Yes you get mileage.
Mileage is important for upgrading cars etc., Exp could be even more important ( for some of you ).
Be quick, read this ;) v ... page 5 onwards

I already have a lot of trouble to better understand the settings of my g29 (it wants to connect to the computer) and then how the ranking works. 2 days ago I was AS yesterday BS, I can not tell why. It is not fundamental but I would love to know it.
I have not tried the arcade mode yet, maybe you can make money, I'll try. For now I have mainly been in the GR4 and the cars do not cost a lot (+/- 350/45)
p.s. maybe the worsening is due to a crash in the wall ....:D:D

I saw here on gtplanet that there are a lot of tricks to make money, win races, multiply breads and fish ....
I honestly do not rush, though I should, seeing my age !!

If getting Platinum is important, some of these 'tricks' could be helpful ( though not the most honorable way ).
In every GT there's been trophies that were extremely time-consuming and bored you to death  !
Remember the '1000 cars in the garage'-trophy from GT5. I sat there for hours and days to buy karts and hours and days to sell them again.
So if you don't have too much time in general for the game, you might consider to help yourself :D ...

Hello it been a while ....whatsup guys ...
I take the time to give you an advice to up ur level and gain money with it and also practice
The thing is easy ...u go to arcade ..(.i have the game in french ... the one just after the drift mode ... personalise race maybe )
choise a track that u want to practice and choise endurance instead of laps and for example if u have like a hour to play u select 1h in setting ...select only 2 players and no boost ....choise a car to practice ... a normal car and give the Ai the fast group of cars ... u ll never win but at the end after one hour of practice and a lot of blue flags u ll receive a 80k-100k of gt money and like 1k of exp to level up and a good hour of practice
