First in game look at "standard" cars in Granturismo 6

Goodbye 15 years of tradition then.👎👎 I daresay one of the most revered and nostalgic features of the GT series has been the first car purchase and now the option is taken away it seems. That's an epic miss on PD's part:dunce::indiff::odd:👎👎

We already lost the UCD... no choice of first car would be terrible. :(

The first car in Gran Turismo it's like a ritual, it's magical, and a very important moment in all those 15 years. I still remember the first cars I bought in all GT games.

I wonder how much Honda paid for that feature...I would have bought a civic anyways.
🤬 YOU HONDAAAAAA

Honda prelude or Honda civic from 98' till now and with the money i saved to the tuning shop

Ah well; at least my Honda tradition would be preserved...

I wouldn't mind it if the Fit was given for free, and then I still started with 20k.

But, if I'm forced to start with the Fit and I started with 4k (20k minus the cost of the Fit) then I would a bit annoyed.

The Civic SiR, CRX, Del Sol and Prelude were always good starters!

Then after GT2, the Silvia S13 and FC RX7 appeared as good options for those that could handle FRs from the start.

But the older Hondas still remain as a very good and cheap options. :)

According to the article of Famitsu, you will be forced to buy Fit RS '10 as your first car (maybe if you don't have other cars), and other cars in dealer will be available after that.

P.S. First post. Nice to meet you all.
You come baring this horrible news and expect us to greet you with open arms !??!
Seriously though, hope you're wrong and welcome to the forums

That's quite a stir you've caused with your first post! Nice to meet you!

I've personally got mixed feelings about this. I don't mind starting out with the Fit, it is a nice (premium) car, but it takes out a moment of history by being able to choose your first car, like you were able to in previous GT games. Showing off your second car doesn't seem quite as special, especially as there is no telling how much cash people will generate using the Fit alone.

Certainly they wouldn't force every single player into a single car in the start of GT Mode... right?

My thought exactly.

This is what I'm hoping. Perhaps they'll at least let me hop into a license test first and win cars there; it worked in GT4, but GT5 forced you to buy a first car (even if you had Chromelines/stealths in your garage :dopey: )

Oh god, people always get a Miata anyway, it's like PD were forcing everybody to buy a Miata for their first so car get over it please.

My personal tradition is to sell first car asap. :sly:

I don't think PD would really do something like this, I think the cars are restricted because that variant of the game is supposed to be a trial run to give people trying it a taste of what they'll get when the game is released.

Either that or what some of you said; part of a tutorial for the game before you play the main GT mode.

GT5 was the first GT where a Miata was my first car - never in any of the other games. You were saying?

I think the start of gt6 will be just like the gt academy "demo". Like Jordan said in the news, basically.

. In the earliest stages of the game, it will be more linear than what we’ve seen in the past – start here, do this race, etc. After you’ve proven your competence behind the wheel, the game will open up into the more traditional open-ended, choose-your-own-adventure format that we’ve seen in previous Gran Turismo games.

Then maybe with the ''tutorial'' race you win enough money for your first real car.

Back to topic, Famitsu showing Standard cars on the dealership:

:)

That looks great. It has been discussed in another thread, but this is way better than the POS UCD. No more wasting my time to get the car I want.

I know not many will feel the same way, but I agree on this. The UCD was implemented so poorly in GT5. Whilst I still would've liked for the UCD to remain in GT6, rather keeping it for older cars from past years, it still is good to see that the GT5 UCD will NOT be coming back.

But, that's only a photo.. not the real 3D model I think..

By the way, 100+ hondas there! (11 pages with 10 cars each)
You never know, they could be better. ;) And also, all Hondas in the dealership!

I'm very much sure it's just a tutorial.
Although I wasn’t able to spend any time in the game’s new Career Mode, U.S. producer Taku Imasaki was able to share how the overall gameplay will be structured.
All cars and events will unlock once you've completed it, nothing more.

It's really not hard to make standards look decent when they're tiny thumbnails. You can already do it in GT5's garage.

But thank you for the solid laugh, folks who are judging them based on the dealership screen grab!
Well Mr. Slip. :mischievous:

Despite the thumbnails, I bet the standards will at least be better. We'll see at release.

They look bad in GT5s thumbnails..

From the screenshots it looks like you start with a Honda Fit and 20,000 credits.

This would be like starting GT5 after 2.02 update where you get a free Toyota FT-86.

Indeed, which is why I said "decent"; shrinking them down certainly minimizes any problems.

Which is the point; people are judging them as "good" based off a 640px-ish screen grab of the dealer screen, where they're all darkened and likely no bigger than 100px across. Actually, given that size, I wouldn't be surprised if they're using the same basic setup as they did for the Shared cars in GT5; that's roughly the size of the thumbnails the official site uses when you log in to My Home there.
