I was pleased with my random number because that is how old I am. Well, that plus a few years, but every birthday when anyone asks how old I am, I say 21 again. :)
Wait I thought you were 21 with 10 or so years experience?

Well, if you really want to know.........

I'm tuner 20
Shaun tuner 21:P
Well dang it now I have to edit the scoring sheet I only have 17 numbers on there.

Career races where tunes from this event can be used are as follow

International B
Tour of Europe
Supercar Festival
Tuned Car Festival

None of them contain the Nurburging GP/F Track but they do have similar corners to test your settings on and earn some credits at the same time.

Tour of Europe / Brands Hatch is a good track for testing your tune out on. :)

Finally got around to giving the car a quick spin last night, a few seconds off the pace still but a lot of learning and fettling to go before I start worrying about other peoples performance. The cars feel great at spec, fast enough to be interesting and just enough grip to make it a challenge 👍
Glad to hear that! I can see you approve of this event then. :)

There is an interesting twist to this challenge. All of these cars are pretty good with just a base tune applied. The car that I was allocated felt really, really good with just my base tune applied. I drove it in two, 5 lap races, made a total of three minor changes and it feels awesome. Notice that I said "feels." Is it as fast as it can be?????? There is the difficulty of this competition. When the car feels great, with settings more toward the middle, rather than toward the ends of the sliders, it will be really easy to "over tune" the BMWs. So after ten minutes of driving, I have a tune that can be pushed really hard and it is not super easy to find the limit. The sad part is, that I know myself so well, that I just know that I will end up over tuning this car.

Need to know when to say when. I may have hit that point, not seeing any gain other than my driving line in a few corners. Its parked for a few days, if I go back and am still happy, then I'm done:). I agree with you Hami, easy to over tune these cars.

Yeah I know what you mean, after taking the car out for a shakedown it felt pretty good and only needed a few tweaks to make it suit the specs better but finding big gains is tricky without over doing it. I tried a fairly wild setup and it was fast but was like what I imagine driving a real race car to be, massively capable but on a knife edge all the time, it wants you to push and fight it through the corners but if you go beyond your capabilities by the smallest margin it'll spit you off the track without hesitation. :mischievous:

I'm not sure that this is the route to the podium but its a real driving experience, very visceral and exciting but if you like a car that does all the work for you then you're probably not going to enjoy it

I am in the same position as Bowtie with my allocated car. I leave it for a day, drive it again and find that I can gain a tenth or lose a tenth based on my driving line. I don't think that I can make it any better but if I tinkered with it too much, i have a feeling it would feel worse to drive than it does now. I am pretty close to calling mine done. Otherwise, I think I may mess it up royally.

I wish I could say I was was letting it sit to see if I was done. I put it down because it's quirky and I need to let it rest so I don't adapt to the car, plus I need to make a choice, sacrifice low speed turns, mid speed turns or compromise them.....as it won't do both.
The track selected has a good mix of both low speed and mid speed turns, however, I would say through my testing when setting up this event, that the track will give better lap times to a car suited to low speed corners and quick acceleration out. The first corner, chicane at the end of the lap and the 3rd/4th corner are where the most time can be gained in the lap, mid speed corners are quite forgiving at GP/F track and time loss is minimal in my opinion. :)

Very true, low speed+acceleration will gain a load of time, but the mid speed sweepers are on hills and out of the main acceleration gears, so missing them will cost a chunk of time as well. Speed is not an issue with this car they way I have it set up it's hitting 245 on the front and 230 on the back.

I don't think I've mentioned yet how much I hate the first section of this track - STOP CHANGING DIRECTION AND LET ME GET BACK ON THE POWER!

I am pretty sure that when you have decided on your optimum setup, you'll feel a lot more confident with your car. As long as you can carry the speed through the sweepers, you'll not struggle with getting a fast and respectable lap time.

Sure thing Jeremy Clarkson.

I did say this event would be fun.. I like technical tracks like this. Fast enough to be entertaining mixed in with slow corners to give the driver something to think about.
That is one thing all the Nurburgring tracks are is technical, faster enough you have to tune for it with enough slow speed turns you have to pay attention.

My first few tunes started of as drift tunes round the first corner and I could guarantee that the rear would spin on me coming in to the last chicane when setting up this event. Was heaps of fun but the lap time was slow going to start with. :)

I believe I have done so already, so I decided to look at what race the Ridox Fan Club was doing this weekend. BTCC Honda and VW tunes at silverstone is a nice change of pace from these BMW's. :)

No one said this event was suppose to be fun? My brain never received that signal... :D

The difference between going in too fast and running deep and braking too early and pulling up short is so small, I don't think I've ever got it perfect :banghead:
I seem to have gotten a rhythm down for the first corner now, but for a long time I was hitting either side of the mark consistently. When testing comes around, that will probably change though. :scared:
