I think your mistaking what I was saying Indy. This isn't a divisional thing based on tuner or driver "skill level". What I'm planning is that when my next shootout is announced people interested in participating sign up as normal. However as I get an idea of how many tuners there are I will divide that number roughly evenly into a number of groups. For example the current 600PP Road Car@Indy shootout has 18 tuners signed up so there would be 3 groups of 6. The first six tuners submitting their tunes go into group one and I would post the names in that group. As soon as that group is posted people are free to start testing and submitting times for that group, with a one week period to do so. As each group is formed based on the order that tunes are submitted in they are eligible to be tested, however people testing don't have to test all 18 tunes they can test one or two groups of six and their times still be valid. This will hopefully result in more testers adding times for all the cars and prevents the loss of valid test data because a tester was unable for whatever reason to submit valid times for all 18 tunes. As a bonus to the tuners I will have the fastest car and the drivers choice car from each of these groups go to a final round. The tuners will get 48 hours if they were in the final first round group (and obviously a bit longer than that if in an earlier group) to make any adjustments to their tunes they desire, prior to the start of testing for the final round.

Hope that alleviated your concerns regarding some sort of divisional format. I am trying to keep things as simple as possible while maximizing participation.:D:tup:👍

Thanks "X" for the clarification. My concern, was the fun factor; XX amount of tuners, X amount of TD's( I do understand your breakdown). this should be a fun event and not elitist competition(as I see it could be, by some) ; that's why I'd mentioned the "announcement" idea in previous post. to get a more diverse feedback from different drivers and styles(ie DS3/Wheel good better best). does this make sense???

TIA

Yep it does. It's also why I personally am not in favor of giving a special prize to the fastest driver. In the FF shootout it was quickly obvious that CSLACR had driving skills way beyond most of us. Same with LexSombra in the 525PP Euro Car shootout. While hopefully those testing will push themselves and the cars to the limits there are people that will give up testing when they see they don't have a chance at a special prize for being fastest. Really no good solution for this other than to encourage everyone to drive hard and have fun.:D These Shootouts are a competition between the cars and their tunes and not the drivers. Other events like my Ring Masters Challenge and Mafia Boy's 200mph Challenge are more about the driver although having a properly tuned car is still vital.

Maybe prizes for the best review write up. That might be better.
That's a thought. Of course we got two sets of videos for the 525 Euro Car Shootout and you know what they say about a picture being worth a 1000 words.:sly::lol:

That would just be an instant win for Onboy though :indiff:

Or maybe me when the time comes for my shootout and I'm tester. If that's the case, I'll need to use extra metaphors  Problem is it's me so I wouldn't be given a prize by myself

Nah, I'm getting bored of massive paragraphs of text, they wear me out far too quickly…after one massive block of text, I can't write or do anything creative for a few days cuz I just hit a block. Besides, my writing is as dry as the Sahara desert.

Your starting to learn the key to good journalism. Doing a short review that gives the information that's relevant can be as good if not better than a multiparagraph monologue.
Your quickie reviews in the 525PP Euro Car Shootout told everyone how the cars felt to you. Tuners got good feedback and people interested in trying some of these cars out got an idea of what to expect with each of the cars. That's good journalism.
Longer reviews have their places and can be fun to read but quite often they can be summed up in two or three sentences.
I enjoy seeing extended monologues on a tune in my garage but it will almost always be that short two or three sentence review that I attach to a tune as it tells potential users what to expect without eating up extra space and time.
Keep writing and thank you for sharing your creativity.👍👍

Yea, I actually found that shorter one more fun to write. I set myself a target of 3 laps per car, 2 sessions, and 5 minutes to write up a sentence or two on the car. I might do that this time as well, it's a nice time saving measure.

So far I only joined the 525pp-event, but perhaps a few words to even improve your Shootout-activities for future events:

Car Hubs:
As you discussed before, a car hub for lending cars would make the process for the testers a lot easier. You only have to maintain FR to the hub-providers and it would be a lot quicker to get all the cars lended. For cars over the trade-limit you still could fall-back to a sharepoint from the tuner.

Test procedure
I would suggest to require a 2-time test of each car. I myself encountered a significant impovement in lap-times due to better knowledge of the track during testing.

Number of Participants
The reason not to take place as a tester at the current 600PP event for me was, that I wasn't able to pre-determine the time needed to carry out all the tests as I didn't know how many tunes would be available at sign-up time. With the test on 2 different tracks I feared not to have enough time to complete them all.

Ensure cars on share meet specs
I had a few cars lended, which did not exactly met the specs (e.g. 526pp instead of 525pp, wrong tyres equipped). For some of them I encountered the miss-fitting after I wasted some time testing them. So I had to re-test after adjusting them. Please ensure, that the cars exactly meet the specs. For this issue a Car-hub might also be beneficiary.

Car variety
I had good fun and insight into the advantages/disadvantages of various models due to the huge variety of cars from the last shootout. This to me was more fun than the FF-shootout (which I only read about). Please keep creative bringing all kinds of oddities to the match.

Ideas for future shootout-themes
I'd love the idea of a dirt- or snow-event not only limited to WRC/Ralley cars but either normal street-cars.

Pretty much what I'm doing. Except it's all three forms of terrain...

Might start making a couple of images and banners for my shootout and everything. They won't look too flashy but they're banners and it will at least make the first post look good in the first place :D

A snow/dirt rally shootout? With street cars?
:D:tup:
I'm sure it would be very interesting and funny to tune a car for rally!

But I think it should be separated into FWD/RWD/AWD.

@sprplay some good ideas there.

I had thought of setting up a poll on F.I.T. rules but if I understand things you can't change poll questions once you start it.

So what I'd like to do is take my rules list from the first post and go down it 1 rule at a time. Question for each one will be as follows;
A) Keep as is with only minor adjustment to wording.
B) Keep basic idea but totally rewrite it for better clarity/ease of implementation/general relevance.
C) Drop rule from F.I.T. general rules, either because its to specific to certain event/s or is covered elsewhere or simply isn't needed.

So with those three options let's start with rule #1.
1) Each tuner may submit one car tune for the challenge.
What is the memberships thoughts on this rule? A), B) or C)?

If your choice is B) or C) please state why and in the case of B) suggest possible rewording.

Once we go through the current list people can make suggestions for additional rules. Keep in mind though that we want to keep the list of rules as short, user friendly and general as possible. Individual event sponsors can then add their own special rules to them as they need/see fit.

I vote A. The only thing that might cause a problem is someone does a two track event that you could enter a car for each track, but limit one car per tuner is a good rule in my book

I choose A).

Maybe with words like "Each tuner may submit one entry for the challenge."

That does not limit anyone setting up a multiple entry series. But does stop a multiple entry by a tuner in a single entry series.

Isn't that option B? ;)
I agree though, but either works fine in my book.

I'll go with his option A as its a minor word change as opposed to a full scale rewrite of the rule...of course with my brain being mush currently I had to reread his post about 10 times to catch that he had made a choice, and was suggesting a simple word change.:dopey::odd::confused::drool::embarrassed: 💡

How is that? Sorry for the confusion.

Hey Harv, add me in on the member roster, would ya? :D

I just got around to peeking into this thread and while I haven't read up on everything yet I like the direction this is going. Giving these challenges structure should increase the enjoyment to be had by everyone.

I'll comment again once I've had the chance to read up on the previous pages. 👍

I have read in the iPhone app thread that you cannot search for 'FIT' as it's less than 4 letters. Should we come up with a four letter acronym so it can be searched for?

Let me know what positions you want me to list for you, I'll add you to the list when you tell me what roles you want to fill.👍👍

Please feel free to make suggestions for a new name and acronym for us to use.
I would suggest Federation of International Auto Tuners, but I believe F.I.A.T. is already taken!:lol::lol:
