So do we have any more input on the current rule #6?

DigitalBaka made a suggestion for rewrite, does that work for everyone or are there other suggestions?

All tunes and test results must be submitted no later than the deadline specified by the event host. Please be sure to use the time calculator provided if you're unsure of the deadline.
I suggested this, 6 and a half dozen to me though.

^ It is good and she is sooooo sexy too!

The current event is nearly complete. Another successful event by the looks of it.

Edit:\|/ there she is. Soooo hot.

If you are unsure of the deadline try this site. Beware of the US Daylight Savings Time Change, don't cut it too close.

Uhm I thought it was on Wednesday the 7th did I miss something?

No, just a copy and paste of a similar set.
Oh okay...I'm so confused.:confused::confused::confused:

Still need you to put your Audi back on share so I can do the speedway. Only have 4 cars left to test total including yours.

So I made up a little banner...what do you all think? 💡 I can't decide if it is too much. The original size on it is 2k pixels across; I can resize if needed so it doesn't look all jagged. :boggled:

I like it. Could you try some air guns instead of spanners? I just want to see how it looks. :embarrassed:

Rules post updated, Archives moved to end of post #3, F.A.Q. started in post #4.:D

So what I'd like to do is take my rules list from the first post and go down it 1 rule at a time. Question for each one will be as follows;
A) Keep as is with only minor adjustment to wording.
B) Keep basic idea but totally rewrite it for better clarity/ease of implementation/general relevance.
C) Drop rule from F.I.T.T. general rules, either because its to specific to certain event/s or is covered elsewhere or simply isn't pertinent to most events.

Okay moving on to rule #7. Let's hear it guys.
7)Independent test drivers will test cars on (Designated Track).

Also we've had two submissions for a F.I.T.T. Banner/Logo should we utilize one or both of them? Perhaps a combination of the two? Thoughts on seeking approval to include the GTPlanet logo?

I'm not using that rule anyway for my shootout. My shootout by the way will be very much divided from the current rules.

Well the option remains to drop it completely from the rules or to rewrite it to be more pertinent to future events. Also as long as your published rules are clearly stated and let people know the departure from the standard rules taken there shouldn't be an issue.

I like it but maybe you could add "F.I.T.T." in is some place, you have the Federation of International Tuners and Test-drivers, but not acronym other then that I like this one

C-ZETA
I'm not using that rule anyway for my shootout.

The rule will not restrict your series as you are proposing it as on certain track types.

Maybe- "Independent test drivers will only submit times for the track/tracks (insert track/tracks)" For C-ZETA's series, his special extra rules will need to be added. So he would add "any dirt, any snow and any tarmac course to the distance of 20 km each."

I think we could combine the next two somehow as they seem to be very similar. I can't think of anything at the moment but I'll come up with a blurb.

On the logo, I can't really find anything on those air guns to use but I'll keep looking. I still need to ask the powers that be about the logo just so we are by the rules but I do agree that it should be there as well as the acronym. Perhaps I'll take what Roj did up and get that in somewhere. :)

@C-ZETA are you ready to get started on your shootout?

I'll be moving the 600PP Road Car Shootout @ Indy to the archives either Sunday or Monday.

I'm just setting up the banners to make the OP look pretty, then I'll be definitely ready by Saturday.
Sounds good. I'll move you to current events and link your thread when you have it posted.:D:tup:👍

I haven't read the whole thread, but as a rules/regulations/guideline writer off and on for a few years now, one of my personal rules is the K.I.S.S. principle...keep it simple... The simpler something is, the easier it is understood. The shorter it is, the more people will actually read it. You don't have to say everything explicitly to get your point across. Brevity is your best friend.

I'd rewrite this rule as it seems a bit cumbersome and unwieldy:

While discussion of the various cars tunes and the methods drivers use in testing as well as their reviews of said car tunes is encouraged, anything viewed as a personal attack on either the car tuner or the driver/reviewer may constitute grounds for disqualification/removal from the contest. Discussion of anything related to the contest is highly encouraged. Personal attacks and bickering/flaming will not be tolerated as this curtails the enjoyment of the community as a whole and could lead to the moderators steping in and closing the contest down. This can be an enjoyable experience for all of us and a possible learning experience. Let's have fun and be respectful of others.

I'd do something along these lines:

Driver feedback, both positive and negative, is strongly encouraged but in a constructive manner. Not all tunes work well for every driver. Personal attacks will not be tolerated and may result in penalties or disqualification at the discretion of the organizer and also may be subject to sanction by GTPlanet.

While I'm at it, you can eliminate that whole giant post #4 two ways.

1. By assigning responsibility for timezone conversions to the organizer, perhaps done in the OP or in a following post, which can be updated as participants are added from different parts of the world.

2. I'm also sure there is a link somewhere for timezone conversions where you only need plug in your location and then look for the time in the destination zone and the link can be posted in every tuning competition thread. I found this in 30 seconds...haven't tested it so don't roast me if there's something wrong with it, but there are probably dozens more just like it. I'm sure you can find one that is simple and reliable.

Welcome to F.I.T.T. Johnny.👍👍
I appreciate your input, that said we've been working our way through the list of rules I used in the FF shootout where I got my start with this motley bunch.:D
I like your rewrite of rule 13, so I'll need to remember its there when we get to that point.
Currently we are reviewing rule 7 and possibly 8.
If you'll look back at the last few pages you'll see the process I'm using to review rules prior to inclusion in the official F.I.T.T. basic standard rules.
We are endeavoring to keep the rules as short and simple as possible and leaving it up to event sponsors to add any additional rules for their events.
The purpose of F.I.T.T. is to provide some basic organization that enhances everyone's enjoyment and not be a rules heavy dictatorial organization.
Hope to see more of your stuff here and in the upcoming events.:gtpflag:

Thought on it some:

Test drivers for the event will commit to testing all eligible cars on the designated track. Tuners should build, tune, share their car and send friend requests to all test drivers so that everyone is using the same car at the same specs. If this is not possible, test drivers assume the responsibility to build the car to the exact specifications as laid out by the tuner.

Also liking Johnny's version of the feedback rule...definitely keep that on hand when we get down to that one. 👍

EDIT: Jordan was kind enough to give us license to use the GTP logo for our banner and I've added in Roj's FITT acronym as well. Bear in mind it is a little jagged having been auto-downsized by Picasa. If we decide on a good size to goat the front I can make that look better. Feedback welcome for changes and such.

I believe 7-10 are all related:

7)Independent test drivers will test cars on (Designated Track).
8)Test drivers have the responsibility to test all cars as the tuner writes them up, including all gear settings and LSD settings. (Suggest that the tuners either place the car on share or send it to the test drivers, especially for cars from the UCD which the test driver may not have readily available.)
9)No one entering the shootout as a tuner may participate as a driver. However feel free to post your best times for comparison.
10)The average of the drivers times will be used to determine the Shootout winner.

I would rewrite as following:

7. Shootout organizer (SO) will designate which track(s) cars are to be tested on, as well as all testing parameters such as number of laps, which laps to count, offline/online etc. Cars are to be tested exactly as written. SO will determine if test cars are to be placed on "share" by tuners or purchased individually by testers. Winner to be determined by formula set out by SO.

IMO I'd leave out the requirement of tuners not being test drivers and leave it up to the SO. I realize it may be construed as possible bias, but I don't believe it's been an issue in the past and if it arises in the future, you can deal with it then. No need to create rules for problems that don't exist. And besides, it'll be the discretion of the SO so if they want to exclude the tuners they can.

If you choose to allow it I'd word it as follows:

It is the discretion of the SO to decide if tuners may participate as drivers.

If you choose not to allow it I'd word it as follows:

Tuners may not participate as drivers.
