Flawed?

On a lighter note I'm almost at Level 50!!! A first for me with any Forza as it usually bored the living poo out of me sometime before the 40's. :D

I am just about at 45, and I am getting kinda worn out on the game already. I think I played it too much all at once. Modern Warfare 2 has been a nice change of pace for awhile.

I will get back in the grind at some point, but I have just been doing some liveries and vinyls, and then going online with some team deathmatches in MW2.

I've played all the GT games except Concept and GT5P. I only played Forza 2 before this one. I didn't like Forza 2 at all I played it a lot and found it very difficult to like from the physics to the menu system. Seemed like a by the numbers sim if that makes any sense.

For me FM3 is a huge improvement over FM2 I actually enjoy racing and even though I'm at level 50 and on season 6 I still enjoy it (not as much as the lower class cars). The physics feel much improved and the engine sounds of the stock cars are the best out there. I feel that this game does have some passion behind it and the menu appearance and structure is great. The way the car is parked over the menu screens is excellent.

But there are bugs on the game as most have been mentioned the loading times are awful and some of the cars floating on tracks are additonal bugs if not mentioned already. The AI cars can be frustrating but I still feel its better they some aggresion rather than none.

As someone has already mentioned it seems a lot of the bugs are due to a reduction in the testing phase of the game which is the phase of the software life cycle that suffers from an ambitious deadline. Although the game is not perfect its still a great game and hopefully all the problems should be patched.

Unfortunately it seems as though many releases are made with the intention of fixing problems through patches, and lots of games suffer this not just FM3. To be honest I would have been more than happy to wait a few months for this game than it be rushed how it was. (Halo 2 is another classic example)

The game has far too many annoying bugs and a few game breaking ones. It's outrageous if you ask me. I would be really pissed if such thing happened to a game I care about such as GT5.
Dravonic nailed it once again. I can't imagine the resulting implosion if GT5 was released in this shape. Prologue had issues like crashing on occasion when disconnecting from Japanese servers, and that was a huge deal. GT4 Online wouldn't have worked with half of the PS2 in the world, maybe most of them, so rather than face millions of angry customers, the project was scrapped. Very different philosophy from MS.

Maybe it's because we expect MS software to bite us that we put up with it. I'm really aghast at how slow my 360 has become, loading vinyls and photos. Like many of you, the racing just isn't that stupendous to keep me hooked, and if I was a racer, I'd be cheezed that leaderboard cars once again kill on the track. But I'm a creative nutcase, so in spite of the horrendous file handling issues, I'm still playing with the race mod and livery editor - damn game is NOT gonna get the better of me!

Here's to hoping, and praying, that T10 can work some magic here, because this is pretty bad... especially for a game so definitive...

How is the sound operating for you guys?

I get a few pops and break ups etc. I'm playing in stereo with it connected to my amp and floor speakers. Its been mentioned a lot on fm.net. I read one member saying its fine with surround sound?

I have found that the bugs in games these days (including GT5p, Forza 3) are just looked past because they can use the internet as a bandaid. They prey on the casual players to not take notice, and hope they can quiet the hardcore players with patches.

Seems they are more interested in making the money, and releasing pointless social networking features on their consoles than they are fixing the flaws (or preventing such flaws in the first place).

No sound issues here, but I am running in 5.1. I haven't tried it in anything but yet. I wouldn't be surprised though. They had a huge sound bug in Forza 2, which was patched, but who knows if the code trickled over.

Also can't stand the way that some of the cars carried over from FM2 have not been remodelled F355, Enzo etc the clearly don't look at as good as the new additions shameful

I'm using stereo through my TV and haven't encountered any audio problems.

I'm still enjoying it, I'm not getting any slowdown in the menus etc., the storefronts work perfectly, as do the replays and tunes, designs etc. (even those of others). Playing online with my friends I've not come across a single issue!

I'm getting the odd pop from my surround sound but I'm fairly sure that's my amp instead as I'm getting it from other games too.

I've been reading the threads on fm.net and I'd say most if not all are established Forza racers and hotlappers, long time members with credible gamertags who are pissed at T10 and going a bit overboard with their posts. Nothing to do with Gran Turismo players. If there's one GT troll its 1 in a thousand. I was on forza central and one guy "ford gt guy" is crying saying all this criticism is from GT fanboys jealous of the game.

Considering that I've been on this forum & that forum for near 5 years now, I will tell you right now that I've seen the same, dumbass posts from the GT Trolls crying about the Forza guys, on this forum.

This particular section of your post is a double-edged sword; it goes both ways.

That is what I was saying as well McLaren. But, alas...some prefer to have blinders on.

I have major slow down when saving ghost and in menu. Can someone tell me how do you delete and disable ghost? Thanks.

Why are some still knocking GT4... it was the last major GT game and it was made in 2004.... We have not seen what GT5 fully offers yet to make a fair comparison yet to whats "missing".

However my biggest flaws are the car list and the track list (again). This is where GT4 still excels in many ways. Not every one only cares for Ferrari Porsche and Lamborghini. Forza doesn't have much in terms of introducing unknown cars to the masses. The list is not bad, just not exciting. It has many modern GT cars but nothing unexpected. What made GT4 so impressive to me were the tons of concepts and classic Japanese race cars like the Minolta 88-C and Toyota 7(even if it sucked and was a death trap) and the Nissans R89C . If PD carries these over to high detailed GT5 models, FM3 on disc(s) car list will not be as impressive. Especially missing the ZR-1 and GT-R.

Second is the track list. Where are the street circuits?? There aren't many in the game.

Now I'm sure Turn 10 has a boat load of stuff to add but then it will get expensive. My opinions guys.

Edit: Minor complaint, no head lights. I think its time we get too see the cool led lights on the cars like whats been seen in some GT5 shots.. Q7 has cool looking head lights but we'd never see them.

"no... UR A GT TROLL!!!"

Can't we have a rational discussion about Forza 3's flaws without it turning into this? Please?

I'm sorry. I know how annoying this can be and I surely know how good threads, such as this one, can be derailed by such things to the point of being closed. I do try to keep it to a minimum but sometimes its just stronger than I am.

... and Toyota 7(even if it sucked and was a death trap)...

Death trap indeed. I remember buying that car and going "WTF?"

Well, as long as we ignore the simple-minded (preferably those who consider everything to be a troll scheme) we should be fine and the thread should run about it becomes old and dusty.

I'm wondering if most of the problems are relieved, does T10 have any potential of expanding the single-player experience.

Mac, I know it's cool to be diplomatic and all, but it's the number and volume among the commoners that's different. Well, and the T10 staff too! I mean, Che Chou's NeoGAF liner says it all: "It's only trolling if you get caught." And how many times has that guy been banned?

What a sad troll topic.
Yep, nothing wrong in Forzaland, where gaming is definitive and perfect...

Not on my $60 disc :)

A good point. Though not necessarily a "flaw", or exclusive to Forza 3. I'm not at all a fan of in-game content that's exclusive to the Collector's Edition, or only available to people who pre-order.

Give them cool extras like a making-of DVD and a nicer case, sure. But it's getting to the point where if you're not buying the Collector's Edition or pre-order, you're not getting the full game. Not cool.

Trying to make it sound like Group A trolls Group B more than they troll Group A doesn't change anything. Both sides are still full of dumbasses. 👎

May be mentioned already, but some of the car models are way out of shape compared to the real life versions. Some are just not accurate at all...

Sure, it's probably a fun and enjoyable game, but not on the same planet as GT5 when it comes to quality.

In my opinion, the single player will not be expanded at all. I heard an interview where they stated that they probably don't have the resources or time to create any new tracks as DLC for the future. They said the ROI would not be there for them. :(

I suspect we will get new cars and possibly new online game types for the most part.

Agreed. You have those that live in the perfect Forzaland and the perfect GTland where everything is perfect. I wish their bubbles would pop.

What does Che actually do, other than look like a glasses-wearing jackhole?

Hey now..I take offense to that. I wear glasses :(

Which cars are you speaking of? Granted, I don't own every car yet, but since we have them all available to us to test drive and hotlap, I wouldn't mind seeing which ones are "out of shape".

That's a bit weak, if it is indeed true. Well, not necessarily "weak" per se..we do have over 100 tracks already, maybe they should consider improving/expanding on what's already there; i.e more (and better) drag events, some more racing events and maybe add an additional season or two that's entirely new.

So do I. :P

Still doesn't change the fact that he's a jackhole.

When the game launched, Che did seem to mellow out. Maybe because we finally saw the goodness they put into it and were wowed for a few weeks. Then again, I haven't been watching much since the problems started chewing on us, so maybe it's back to the cranky old Che, now.

I do need to take a peek at the Forza boards to see if there's any word from the team yet.

But it's getting to the point where if you're not buying the Collector's Edition or pre-order, you're not getting the full game. Not cool.

How is it? We've had 5 exclusive cars and then 4 normal cars with exclusive designs and tunes (Which could be replicated easily) since. It's barely anything when you consider how many cars and tracks there are. It only cost £5-10 more than the normal edition over here anyway so there's no complaints from me.

Well the 5 exclusive cars are pretty desirable. There's probably about 50 of the regular cars I'd trade just for the 5 exclusives. If I were going to buy the game I'd get the limited edition (which I'm most likely not, given I dont have an xbox 360 and I'm not going to purchase another wheel given FM3 doesn't support my wheel).

I dont really like it when collectors editions include extra in game content. I'd rather any edition has the same content (except where future releases which might include DLC), but collectors editions just have, ya know, collectable stuff... USBs, fancy cases, books, music, whatever.

I guess its a tactic to get people to buy the full collectors edition at launch rather than waiting a couple of months and picking up the regular edition out of a bargain or trade in bin for half the price.

How is this relevant to what was being discussed? No-one was implying that we don't see GT people crying about Forza. Bizarre you felt the need to address some imaginary balance you have going but okay. :boggled:

The point was Forza flaws and posts on fm.net. Someone felt the need to come and post the moderation on fm.net was GT trolls but I've been reading the site and I disagree. Reminded me of that thread and I said some need to wake up, the game has some problems and many Forza fans are posting their opinions.

Sorry I expressed my amusement of your forum friend but that's all it was.

I was going to leave it but you and Tenacious D are still going with some GT Forza thing that has nothing to do with the thread. It really needs to stop.

Lets try to carry on with Forza 3.

When could we expect a patch? Perhaps the DLC date?

My photo error now takes 1:40.
