Flight Simulators - Add your own screenshots

Ok I have been enjoying the new aircraft and scenery for a couple days now, thought I would post a few sceenies, I haven't taken many yet but these will do for now.

For some reason Flickr downsized my pics (even the "large" ones are shrunk)

This was actually a frame rate test I did, got the PMDG MD-11 with the new FTX AU Blue scenery in a thunderstorm to see how much of a hit I get

Now heres a couple from the PMDG Jetstream 4100 I recently bought and am still learning all it systems

Oh and if you're wondering in the top pics why Australia is so green I set it for winter at that time, looks nicer. I will take some more pics soon.

Haha, yeah. They do use high quality cleaners and agents in the washer fliud on aircrafts, guess it's simulated :P

Heres a few more pics, I got some new ingame camera software (free) so I can take some pictures I couldn't before

Like these cockpit pictures of the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 (same plane as the green one in my above picture set, or seen here)

Here is another BAe Jetsream 4100 (J41) external picture, this time in a REX regional airline liverie which a nice fellow from AVSIM forums painted for me.

REX airlines is a Australian regional airline that usually flys Saab 340 turbo props but I wanted the J41 painted in the same way. Here is a real REX airline picture of a Saab 340 for reference

Well, I've not been here in a while!
My PC has been out of action for about a year (mainly because I didn't bother to get it sorted) and it might be getting fixed sometime soon.
I am now in possesion 2 screens to mess about with which should be fun with FS :D
FS is probably the first thing I'm going to "play" when It is fixed. I've been without it for too long :(

Too bad about your PC, when you get it going again through up some more screenies. :)

Well... I'll be back in business sometime next week with a new PC. Turns out my CPU was FUBAR'd. It would have been silly getting a new one as that would have cost half the price of my new PC and it would have been less than half as good :P
Can't wait! I'll be able to have awesome graphics rather than medium graphics now as well :D

Great, always great to get some extra frame rate to burn up with some extra grahpics :D

Haha
For sure!
I'll need to fire up FS9 soon, I'm so eager to play it after a year or so break!

Well I did my first flight today and I started off somewhere in Nepal. My plan is to go up into the mountains but I amr eally only at the foot of them just now.

More to follow.
EDIT: Well thats no use at all. How do I take a screeny of only my main monitor?

During my 'world tour' flights I flew over Nepal and Mt Everest but only with default scenery, you have custom scenery and/or landclass for Nepal?

I only use one monitor so I am not sure how you would take a screenie of only the main.

No, I haven't downloaded any scenery or planes as of yet. Plan on doing that soon. ;)
Ah ok, to google with me then!
I just realised teh winningness of my new computer :D
In FS2004 I have all of the sliders set to the maximum... Every single one of them, event eh ones that I could really live without... I am getting roughly 60FPS all the time! And I had Windows media player and MSN on the go at the same time...
Do you know what I would be able to have FSX set at based on those results?
Oh, its also only an average graphics card and I plan on grabbing some more ram to go from 2 gb to 4gb.
:D:D:D [/excited rant!]

Not sure, I never even tried FS9 since I got my new system

FSX isn't really effected by better video cards unless yours is really old, it's a CPU and ram hog, going to 4gb will help especially if you intend to run some complex aircrafts and scenery. :)

What CPU did you get?

The CPU in my new pc is some Intel dual core one clocked at 2.6Ghz. I'm planning on overclocking it sometime, apparently it can get over 3Ghz. I doubt I would go that high though.

Most can go over 4Ghz, I have a quad core Intel i7 (920) which has a stock clock of 2.66Ghz, even with the stock cooler I have it at 3Ghz. 3.2Ghz gets a little too warm with the stock cooler though, so I will buy a better one sooner or later and take it to about 3.8-4Ghz.

Make sure you have SP2 installed with FSX as it supports multiple core CPU's like you have (dual), also FSX loves clock speed so even taking your CPU to just 3Ghz you will notice a nice difference. Also if you can (if you don't already) use a 64bit operating system to make the most of the 4gb's of ram you will have, this also pretty much stops all the 'out of memory' errors if you ever get any when you pile mods on. :)

Cool! I'll have to wait a bit till I get more ram and an aftermarket cooler because I just bought this pc and a bike... :D
I'm not entirely sure how to overclock yet though
I noticed there is a part in Speedfan that looks like it deals with clock speeds etc but I don't know what my mobo is or where to find out which one it is
I have the 64bit version of Win 7 and I'll be sure to take heed of your advice when I get FSX :)

You overclock in bios, bios will also tell you what mobo you have etc. As the PC first starts on the intial screen press the DEL key and it should go into bios and you can deal with it from there. Best to figure out what you have then find a overclocking guide for your parts online, there is plenty of them. When you want to go down that path that is, for now it is best to enjoy how it is now, I find many others tinker around with over clocking before they even get a feel for how there PC performs and just enjoy it.

64bit win 7, thats great, throw as much ram in it as you wish :D

Right, I'll scout around in there when I get FSX. My pc can handle most of the games I play at the moment on high graphics settings so I'm alright for a while :P

Or however much I can afford is probably more fitting!

Good to see you guys still going strong in the FS world 👍

I've been flying in the real world yesterday with a Cessna 177-RG Cardinal II, and when I got home I re-installed FS9. This time on the main PC so it should run smoother. Sadly PMDG do not have a payware Cessna it seems so I went with a 737-800 instead. Yeah, talk about abrupt change :P

I don't know if I will do a flight today, I may just get to know the aircraft first. I went through the check-list of a 737 in FS9 yesterday, along with all the procedures before taking off. There's an incredible amount of things to do, hence why I may get to know the aircraft first, and go through the manuals.

*EDIT*

It's amazing what you can get out of either FS2004 or FSX with the right system and add-ons, check this:

I'm hoping to get a summerjob tomorrow, who knows I may be able to afford a decent system for next autumn! 👍

Just installing FSX just now... Pics to follow if I can manage to only capture my main screen an not both o my scrrens

PMDG is currently well into the development of thr 737NG for FSX, it's a complete ground up new build of it, their current 737 is quite old and is missing many many things, FSX version will have pretty much them all.

I haven't even tried the older PMDG 737 as I have been spoilt by the later stuff and will wait for the PMDG 737NGX. :)

Oh here is a little preview of the HUD they're developing for it

Also note

"These are free floating images to refine the technology. In a bit we will be able to show you what this will look like in the 3D environment of the VC, and in a 2D popup view"
"Yes, fully collimated, etc etc etc..." (you can move your viewpoint/head around and the HUD will still show correctly over the terrain)

Very nice, I was thinking of getting that new FTX scenery package, how is the frame rate hit compared to the FTX AU packages?

Fantastic looking scenery! 👍

Can anyone direct me to a place where I can find some nice Cessna models? I already have Flight1's Cessna 172 Skyhawk, but I'm so deeply in love with Cessnas lately, I really want more of them!

Frame rates are pretty good, I get about 22fps with the scenery as you see it in the images, I'm on a i7@3.8Ghz and 4GB ram with NV285 graphics card. It's much in a par with Australia which to be honest amazed me, cause there is so much more going on in this scenery.. the fact that included in this they have already updated hundreds of the default airstrips to something more akin to an airport rather than that mowed strip that default fsx has, is amazing. I wonder how much this might hurt there sales of Airports in the region, I suspect the included airports will be good enough for most folks, the level of detail in the payware strips released so far is incredible.

Also the OZx community have already started to produce some of the bush strips as they did for Australia..all in all it's hard to find a reason not to fly there :)

22 FPS? Is that good or bad? How much RAM does your NV card have? The guy that made the video I posted above runs the same processor as you, but he runs 12Gb of RAM and 2XHD4870 Radeon graphics card. It's kind of rediculous what you have to buy to get this game to run so smooth, but I'm willing to lay down some money for a decent system.

Hmm, I'm on a i7@3.0Ghz (stock cooler), 6GB ram with a 4870X2 (2GB) and with PMDG Jetstream 4100 and PMDG MD-11 (which both rob a lot of frames due to complex systems modelled), other various mods and the FTX AU Scenery I always stay above 20fps which I am happy enough with, I am cocerned this FTX package will push me over the edge when I run all my other mods with it.

22fps is quite smooth in FSX, more so than 22fps in FS9

Ohhh so >20 FPS is alright then?!
I wasn't sure so I was trying to keep it above 30. I'm off to crank up the sliders :D

It's all what you are happy with, with all the mods I have it only sits around the 20's (mid to high usually) on the gound or low alt with lots of autogen and traffic, but it is still smooth enough.

Edit*

A new highly detailed and very thouroghly simulated Concorde is getting close to release from Flight Sim labs for FSX, they have been working on it for a few years, the company was founded by a former PMDG developer.

Obviously there are other mods in that video with it
