Flight Simulators - Add your own screenshots

I've been searching for weeks and i don't find any aircraft i didn't downloaded yet, can you tell me some sites with downloadable contents for FSX?

PS: FS9 is a game, if it is, is it good?

Tried out FS9. The scenery is a little crappy, but it runs much, much smoother than FSX. I have it on ultra high settings now, so far so good 👍

FS9 is Flight Simulator 2004, the predecessor of FSX.

And as I said to Bram Turismo, there's a lot of links to downloadable content in this thread, just go through it.

Told you it was much easier on the system than FSX. There's some very good scenery add-ons for it. I never tried them but I've seen some good pics with photo-realistic scenery.

I'll be careful with those add-ons. The game runs smooth on maxed settings, but there is always some lag, so I don't know how the game will be with those add-ons. Currently taking flight lessons to get through everything. Afterwards I plan on taking a 737 through a longer flight, but I need to learn first all the communications things and how I know where to fly

*EDIT*

With a framerate lock set at 41, I am between 28-30 fps when on runways, and once taking off the framerate skyrockets to the locked setting. I've now set it to unlimited, but I don't think it'll affect framrate at airports... What do you guys think? Add-on additional scenery good with a framerate at the stock airports?

I don't use the default aircraft (a basic simulation) but if you need help with the radios, ILS, VOR, DME, any navigation or anything just give us a yell. :)

Thanks Jay 👍

I'm looking into some add-ons now, especially aircrafts. I'll also be looking into some solid scenery stuff, but if they harm my performance too much, I may go and sack them :)

*EDIT*

Set the framerate to unlimited, got 10 fps at Seattle airport, 60 fps once in the air. Framerate seems to vary as I got 25 fps at Torp, Norway. Could you guys help me with the add-ons? I found some packages, but I don't know how to install them. I simply extracted everything in the scenery add-on folder, but nothing changed...

I haven't touched FS9 for a couple years so I forget the exact process but from memory you need to go to options and a scenery tab/section and select it from the scenery database.

hey Viper Jay
Why have you changed your name?

Because I would rather use my own name after all these years.

Hi guyz, you know any advisable game, not does very famous ones, some good flight simulators without being Combat flight simulator (microsoft simulators), FSX, ...

see you

Been playing around with an Airbus package and the A380, but I really want some scenery updates now. Most sites seem to offer only textures for countries though, and I now wonder if I have to download scenery for all the countries I want to fly in? Isn't there like a scenery update that counts globally?

Also, most sites seem to require registration, are there good sites that don't require this?

Thanks 👍

I really need to get the hang of flight planning, using the autopilot, navigation and air traffic control. ATC pretty much handed me over from airspace to another without me knowing where to fly. I made a plan from Heathrow to Brussels National, used the autopilot after take-off but it sent me straight north over the UK

Has this thread been dying or what?

Anyway, still into FS2004. Definitly a purchase when I see it in the stores. Question though; is there any good software to pan around in the cockpit? I hate the views that are absolutely stuck, I want to view around to see where I'm going when I'm going to land properly. Thanks 👍

TrackIR is fantastic wiht flight sims, but otherwise the hat switch on flightsticks works well. In FSX you have a button (spacebar by default) which turns the mouse into a free pan, very handy and very accurate.

I haven't made any flights lately so haven't posted but I probably will soon.

I'd wish that same feature would be in FS2004. Mind you that I don't have a flightstick, so I'm stuck with the keyboard.

On that, I think FS2004 really lacks in ATC contact. They just hand you off to another tower when flying, instead of getting instructions on the heading, speed and altitude which is best in that flightzone...

Well you are supposed to file a flight plan and you as the pilot should know the procedures in the flight planning stages. They will vector you out on depature towards your first waypoint (from the flight plan you made) and then vector you back in for the approach when you get near the destination. I forget the details of the standard ATC controlling of VFR (Visual flight rules).

I use a payware product called Radar Contact 4 and build my flight plans in FSBuild 2, which allows you to fly real world airways, SIDs and STARs aswell as take vectors, dirvert for weather/emergency etc, all like real airline procedures.

If you want to know more about procedures (min alt, speed restictions, SIDs/STARs etc) for pretty much any area and airport I can link you plenty of real world charts sites, they all apply the same in the sim.

Hey Jay, are you familiar with Active Camera in FS? Anyone know whether it's any good for panning in the cockpit?

Active camera ia fantastic, it's one of the things I miss most about going to FSX (not compatable with FSX), yeah I forgot about it. It has mouse free view, I even used to walk about my aircraft external and internally. Highly recommended.

I never really got into online for FSX, I used to do some random helicopter flying with people at airports but thats about all.
Did you patch FSX with the service packs (2nd one gives you a good performance increase), what do you think of it?

I cant seem to get the 2nd service pack to install, I'm going to give it another go soon. I'm loving it so far everything is set to High and I'm getting no framerate issues so fingerscrossed with the 2nd SP I can go Ultra.👍
I'm still trying to get a feel for everything, I haven't played a flight sim since FS98

Great, SP2 works even better for multicore CPU's (which it sounds like you have).

Of course:sly:

But every time I try to install SP2 it says that it requires the English version of the game. Not sure what to do about this one.:ouch:

So I'm getting all into this now that I can fly some missions with out killing hundreds of people on the ground:tup:, what is a good flight stick? I am using my 360 controller now and just don't have the control I feel I need. I found a Saitek X52 on Amazon here. Are Saitek's producs good anyone use them or have any recommendations on what to look for?

PS I did look at the user reviews for the X52 and like what I am seeing, but would like some feedback on this anyway.

I am using a Logitech force feedback flight stick (with throttle control, rudder twist etc) but If I was to get a new flight stick at the moment it would be the Saitek X52, I have heard nothing but good things about it, visually not my style but still the best.

EDIT

Just add a couple pics (of the many I took) from my latest flight from Edmonton Canada to Anchorage Alaska (leg 31 of my world tour)

First pic, seeing these mountains ahead covered in clouds as I was decending was a little worrying, though I knew it was ok as I was following the "Kelye one" Radar Arrival procedure (real life procedure)

The second one interested me as you can see the large mountain shadow, it was getting late and the sun was getting low.
