Flight Simulators - Add your own screenshots

Great shots again Viper. Glad to see this thread enduring. I really need to get back into my flight simming, even if I don't have FSX.

Incidentally, Christhedude or anyone else - anyone got any good pictures of flights over Dubai? I'd love to see what the scenery is like in FSX - it was pretty poor in Century of Flight, not to mention that the actual city is changing all the time so there must be loads of scenery updates for it...

For anyone who isn't into big jetliners here is a new turboprop aircraft being developed and to be released next month by PMDG, like always everything in the aircraft is simulated.

Great shots!

Speaking of turbo props, does anyone know if Piaggio's P.180 Avanti is available for FSX or any other flight sim?

Even sitting on the tarmac it till looks like it's going around 500 mph. :)

I've flown to the airport a few times but never around the city, I might take a heli flight over it later and take some pics for you (default scenery) :)

Yep payware though, with a 7 day trial period

I think there is a freeware version available for FS2004 which you may be able to get running in FSX, but you get what you pay for

Ok I just took a quick flight, nothing special other citys are more thoroughly modeled but anyway. Keep in mind FSX is a couple years old now and would be behind anyway, this is default scenery and I am sure add on scenery has been done.

Leaving the airport for a direct flight to the city which you can see in the second pic in the distance, the weather should be clear but visabilty isn't greatest (I guess that is common in Dubai). Oh and I turned off airport AI as I didn't want to get in the way randomly flying around (very busy usually).

I forgot to go check out the sea for the boats and islands, but as you can see in the large pics there is nothing out there either, not the best represented default city.

Hi guys, i just got one game named Lock On:Modern Air Combat or Air Combat Simulator, i have some pics, i'm going to show you some pics:

picture.php

Ejected for no reason (in free flight of course).
picture.php

requsting premision to take of.
picture.php

Some cool Graphics in the cockpit, in high detail screen.
picture.php

Enemy sighted, ready to fire.
picture.php

A10 in low altitude.

This game proably not very popular, but a realy good flight simulator, you can fly the F15C/A10/SU25/SU27/MIG29 and other three planes (russian planes) that i can't remember. realy cool, good graphics and some realy hard missions.

See you

Nice pics Madbigdog 👍

I haven't played Lock-on for years but it was always in my opinion the best modern combat sim, I remember some of the missions in the A10 we bloody hard.

Oh and I remember when it was really hard on my system.

Here is a follow up picture of the PMDG Jetstream J41 cockpit with optional white/biege panels

Thanks for the pics Viper 👍 That's some... interesting scenery they've mapped around Dubai! Those lines of skyscrapers don't look too bad - they're the ones running along either side of Sheik Zayed road, but as you can see the scenery around is a little more generic than the actual scenery...

That photo's from early 2008 and a lot's changed since then too! (The shot below is 1991/2005 - amazing)

You're right too - visibility is always pretty bad in Dubai. Fine from the ground, but I expect worse from the air. At dusk you can see the sandy/smoggy haze pretty easily, the sun often disappears before it reaches the horizon.

Oh wow, I guess it's not quite as bad as I thought but yeah apart from the strip of buildings the rest is generic. That last pic from 1991 is amazing to see the difference!

I tried to make stunts in dubai with a 747 hehehe crashd milions of times, funy to cross the street with a giant plane without crashing. I coudn't take pictures because of the controls, i droped the stick and the 747 crashed, if you can take some pictures of random stunts. realy funy to do...

I might post a pic of a low flying SAAB Grumen fighter plane flighing alongside some yaughts in the River Thames
i might have to do it again first though

Hey guys!

It's ben years since I've played a Flight Simulator game, but I was wondering if I'm able to run Flight Simulator with these specs:

- Dual Core 1.7 GHz processor
- XP SP2
- 1 Gb RAM
- 128 mb RAM video card ATI Xpress Series 1150

If I can run it, is there a demo I can try out? Thanks 👍

Hmmm, yeah you could run it but I don't think you can have the settings up too much.

Best if you try out the trial version first

http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulatorx/downloads.html

(Scroll down a little bit) :)

Oh also there has been a performance increase with the service pack which I don't think the trial includes, so if the trial is ok then the full version with the service pack will be better.

I think FS9 would suit these specs better than FSX.

Well, I'm not looking to max out the graphics, but I'm looking for a game that is a quite complete package without buying too many add-ons. I will give the FSX trial version a try 👍

Since my system specs are good above the posted minimum requirements, I thought this would run possibly smooth on low-mid settings?

*EDIT*

How big is the full game? The trial version alone is already nearly 1 Gb

It should run fine on low to medium settings
My system isnt that much better and it handles FS9 ok medium graphics
as for HD space, it takes up 2.7 gigs just with all the textures and what-not
I think FSX takes up over 10gigs if Im correct (don't quote me on that figure)
👍

Yes, 11GBs for FSX. It's a two DVD install. And between running FSX on low/mid settings and FS9 on mid-high settings I would take the latter.

Definately agree with that
FSX wouldnt be worth it if you don't have the computer power to run it with good graphics (i dont for sure)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have my graphics quality / resulution in maximum inn the best quality as the computer permites without any LEG. realy cool, i just put the traffic in maximum, if i do, i was a better kamikaze than a pilot.

hehehehe

see you

Well, tried out the trial version today, and I never expected such heavy crap from MS. Why do they even bother to say it'll work on a system half as fast as mine that it'll work when it lags like hell on mine? The graphics were even crappier than the other games I play, but it lagged worse! Oh my oh my... I'm going to give FS9 a shot, but I'm not expecting much. The demo of FSX alone was 1.3 Gb, and it took ages to uninstall it and even caused the first freeze I've ever experienced on my laptop...

Well, if I ever get me hands on a better system, I might give it another shot, but on this system? Never.

Yep, FSX is a big heavy pig of software, thats why the main goal of service pack 1 was to clean it up and support multicore CPU's, performance really increased but still too heavy for what it is. At the time nothing ran it smoothly but now Hardware is finally catching up over two years since release and we can take advantage of it. FS11 was supposed to be much the same (which extra goodies) but so much more optimised. Much like Windows 7, thats why FSX has been called the 'vista' of flight sims.

FS9 will run much much better on your system out of the box but wont compare to FSX with sliders full, but will look better than FSX with sliders down.

Woah, sorry for the rant there guys. It was all explained when I read reports of FSX taking up to 5 Gb of RAM with ultra graphics in crowded areas, no wonder this lags so much. I was astonished by the ultra high graphics though. I got a job for this summer, and I'll get nearly 20,000 dollars of support money next year. Hopefully, but I'm sure with the money I got already, and what my job will get me, that I can build a good rig next year when on uni. FSX will be my first purchase as a good benchmark for the new system 👍

On that, I haven't found any demos for FS9, are there any?

I don't remember a FS9 demo and Microsoft wouldn't offer it anymore anyway, you can get FS9 cheap now and I promise you it will run a crap load better than FSX did on your system. :)

Oh the irony: (recommended settings test)

Wonder how better it'd run with SP1... Too bad there's no demo on FS9 though, I never, ever buy something without a test.

Yeah, there's no demo of it. You can read about it and see some screenshots of the game here, but the only way to test FS2004 without buying it is by borrowing from a friend, or downloading it.

Yeah, I'm currently downloading it. If it runs smoothly at decent graphic settings, I might just purchase it mid May when I'm going to the city.

On FS2004, when downloading additional scenery and aircraft; Does this harm framerate? Is every aircraft payware or there many nice aircrafts around for free? FS2004 might turn out to be awesome and real fun, but I don't want to spend serious amounts of money on additional aircraft. (Yeah, I'm a big-plane-nuthead)

There's lots of freeware stuff. Scenery add-ons might hurt the framerate a bit, but planes in general don't. Read through this thread and you'll find a lot of good links for freeware, payware and settings tip for both FS9 and FSX.
