That would be awesome if you could. We're using a new logo for next season, so I'll have to get that to you in a bit. I was thinking the standard purple color for the face of the FMSC lettering, then chrome on the 3D edges. Then have the logo spinning over a plain black background.

I can get you the R/G/B color codes for the exact color too.

Edit: If you click on the link in my sig for the track creator contest, the logo at the top is the one we're using. 👍

The RGB data would be very helpful. Saves me the time getting it.

I can get everything to you tonight. Colors, font types, etc.

Does anyone know the legality of using Sony's logos in such a video? I figure as long as we're not making any money off of them, it's okay right?

I know right?

Maybe I should create some kind of press kit that I can send around. Think I'll still need that video though. As we speak I'm devising a way to have that computer in my hands by the end of next week.

I think the key would be to let them know how passionate everyone here is about their brand. Even asking to use their branding and allow FMSC to advertise their brand, would atleast get your foot in the door.

It has to be a motually beneficial reletionship, you have to give them a reason to sponsor you. With Mazda being such a massive company this could be alot harder than creating a cool video.

The main thing you have to offer is ad space on the FMSC forum which has atleast 50 car enthusiast vist it each day. Which in it self is something but from reading about FMSC Its sound like your trying expand the FMSC having sevral series under that brand.

So I think if you can get those things across to the right people at mazda, they will atleast throw in a t-shirt or something and then you can develop the relationship from there.

Just thought I'd share some of my thoughts on the matter :D

It's actually MORE legal to use it than omit it.
Giving credit to the content owners by throwing a splash up at the beginning or end with the PS3, GT5, and PD logos which says "all content used in the production are the sole property of their respective copyright holders" is the best thing to do if you want to stay inside fair use. General rule of CYA is if you don't ask the owner always credit them.

I was just about to ask for the fonts.

I'm not a lawyer but, in my experience with trademarked logos, they can't just let you use it.
If they don't protect their property, they lose the trademarked logo (brand image).
Doesn't matter if you make money from it. Some companies do make exceptions, it has to be done before hand though.

You still don't use the logo, you just say that ^^^
Look at this.

One of the concerns that would come up with using the logo would be the potential for Sony to look like they're affiliated. I'm not sure if they are, but I'm sure they like to keep track of what their brand is associated with. Though I couldn't could imagine why they wouldn't want to be associated (GT Academy, Nissan, Toyota - don't see many Mazdas in their friends list).

I'm thinking the other way around on this. I work at the ad agency that has Mazda. I was on the pitch team who won the account, but I'm actually working on Ford now. I know exactly who to present this to and have the initial email written about everyone's passion, why this would be good for their brand, etc. What I don't have nor do I have the time to build it, is a good, simple sales piece to help get you noticed.

If there is anyone in this series with some video editing talent? I could send you some of the rip videos that we make here to have as an example. I just simply do not have the time to build this for the series.

Again, if 720p (not full 1080p) HD is OK, then I can do that.

I don't want to ask too much from you guys as there's no way I can really re-pay you for anything that you've done. I greatly appreciate all of the help though. I have some big plans for the top series next season and I'm hoping it does as well as I hope it will.

As far as the legal stuff, I think the only thing I would be more comfortable with is contacting someone at Sony about use of the logos/animations, just to be on the safe side. I don't know much about copyrights, etc and don't want to find out the hard way. :scared:

THANK YOU, I have had to deal with copyrights before. On my work, someone thought they could use it without permission.
I would think trademarks are the same. Ask first 👍

I wasn't saying a really good video showing what FMSC is all about wouldn't help. Just that it wouldn't be the only thing that would get them onboard, but it's great you have experience dealing with this sort of thing. It could really help improve the chances of them being interested 👍

Just let me keep racing in your series. That's payment enough. If we lived closer to each other I would look to trade driving advice; you could coach me in GT5 and I could coach you at a track day.

I can make a video. It can be trailer style, maybe about a minute long would be ok? I'll even do a voice over, something like,

-dark intro, logos, still shot of the car-

" What do you get when you bring dozens of Mazda enthusiasts together in Gran Turismo online and give them all Miatas?"

-cut to video-
*zip zip zip*
close up of cars running across screen

"You get some of the funnest racing experiences around. Have you ever wanted to race a Miata around the track? Now anyone can and all you need is a couch and a controller.

*pause*
Using the Spec Miata formula for a whole year has shot our series in to the forefront of the online racing community at GTPlanet.net. People associate the name Mazda with fun, pick up and go, racing with less hassle, just by seeing the name.

*pause*

Nothing brings more joy to us than doing things like running down the corkscrew in a pack of a dozen cars sticking closer together than a traffic jam. It's more than exciting and we can never get enough of it.

*pause*

We plan on continuing to host these races as interest stays high and continuing Mazda's proud heritage of being the most raced car brand on Earth, both online and off."

-pan up off track on Laguna Seca, straight up into the sky cars echoing in the distance-

*whisper zoom zoom*

-cut-

That would have been awesome. Especially considering it'll cost me $500+ to rent a spec miata around here for a day.

Probably better than my idea.

Edit: Think we'll resort to using these for our driver graphic next season. :)

I really like the set-up as it is....
Edit: picture of your car with your PSN.
I think the A-Spec, B-Spec levels are irrelevant, same as in game wins (FMSC wins would be different)

Well they are set up using that website. If everyone got me that card, I could edit them with FMSC specific info...

interesting...

Please don't look at the trophies...
I just did them as quickly as posable back in december....

Dude, we don't care. It's all good. Mine looked like that until I needed something to do. :sly:

Anywho, we could replace the license trophies with Podium finishes. 👍

Reading a few posts back, and it would be amazing to be recognized by Mazda themselves!! We would have more people join and better prizes. :)

Here are my stats :D

GT5 Gamercards

I'm having trouble coming up with things to replace the stats. Anyone have any ideas?

The only thing I could come up with is podium finishes for the trophies on the right there.

Edit: Maybe put a picture of the car or just a plain white background with the drivers number in the left box.

Left stays as is. Right has car number. Have front and side picture of car on bottom middle.
