What's the consensus on passing slower or lapped traffic? My reading of the GTP OLR Rules & Guidelines is that slower traffic should move off the racing line. At every track day I've run, slower cars stay on the racing line so car locations are predictable, then the faster cars pass safely.

Usually, I hold my line and let the faster guy pass me, but if there's a battle up front and they're all closing on me, I'll find a safe place to slow down and let them all by.

Also, if I'm trying to catch up to someone myself, I wont just pull over for you.

If you're racing for position, stay on line, it's the faster car's job to pass you safely. If you're being lapped, just lift off briefly when it's safe. Any time I've ever been lapped a wide line into a corner off-throttle was all it took for the leader to buzz by me.

This can be a bit of a problem in GT5. If you're running mid-pack (not last place) and the leader comes up behind you to lap you it can be hard to tell if he's a lapper or someone you're battling for position. It's hard to tell because you can't see name tags in your rear view mirror.

Are there any established ways of letting a back marker know that you're lapping them? How about honking? I'm curious because it's not inconceivable that I'll be lapped.

My times are down to mid 15's with a best of 15.3, so I hope I'll be okay. Better safe than sorry though. I'll be thrilled to get in the top ten. The competition is fierce!

I always know who's around me at any given point; situational awareness is always a good thing to have.
This is also a good reason to have cars that look different... easier to identify the leader.
The mirror doesn't show their name but the "look back" button does.

IMO it doesn't really seem like too much to ask for everyone to know who they're racing. :P

I know the GTP OLR and was wondering how strict are the races?
Is "door paint exchange" ok?
How aggress can you be with draft draft breaking?
Are all pass required to "safe". For example,
you see a guy brake 60m to early, you dive to his inside, see the car in front of him is also braking to early, and pass him at the apex.
No contact, did not force them to change lines.
Is that "OK" or "YOU ARE OUT OF THE SERIES"?
Also, how strict are track boundaries? Say you swing wide for just a second, non-intentionally, will you be DQed?
Track boundaries at nurb.....F are tricky, most of the other tracks don't see to have much of a problem. Going wide can save a good .01-.02 or more IMHO

Thanks, I just would like know now.... instead of later.

Well, if the person can run you down from behind as fast as the leaders can... He will be leading soon.

This is a good tip. I agree that situational awareness is key, but things can get confusing if different groups are pitting on different laps. First race out I doubt many people will be able to match all the names and cars correctly. If in doubt, consult the position table.

True :P. I really don't expect this to be a problem in this series, but I have seen it be a problem elsewhere. In any case this race should be a blast.

Paint swapping is never OK, let's just say that.

As far as draft breaking, once or twice is OK but I don't want to see you swerving back and forth down the straights. That's kind of pointless anyway because all it does is slow you down.

If someone brakes earlier than you think you should and you dive to the inside to pass, that's fine as long as there is no contact. If you accidentally brake late and swerve to the inside to miss them and make contact, it's probably best that you give them the spot back. If I deem it inappropriate, I'll penalize appropriately.

Doesn't matter which track it is, car has to maintain two wheels within the "white lines" whenever possible. All tracks are outlined with those white painted lines....stay inside them. If you have to go out there to miss a wreck or something, that's fine. If you are found to be doing it during qualifying, you'll have to start at the back. (wait for everyone to pass, then go)

On a side note, I have internet at the new place but it's hooked up in the living room only. I will not have a hard connection in my room for a couple days, so unfortunately I will in fact miss this race. All the room hosts know their duties and will take care of any problems should they arise.

Nas, such a humble racer. I doubt you will have to worry:sly: about getting lapped, no matter who you are racing. You will be in the 14's, probably running for a podium spot. :sly:

Thanks, strict clean. The good way.
I really try my best to keep my paint color off cars...

Are rumble strips track? If not, I need to change my line.

Just read the OLR Crp. Anything that is counted as track is ok, that obviously includes rumble strips. All you need to do is keep two tires on the track boundaries. The white lines he's referring to are for sections of run off or parts of other track layouts that cross the main track.

In other news, I glanced an S2000 rocking almost exactly Brosif's trademarked color scheme in the wild:

Yes and don't worry, I was a passenger in the car I took the shot from xD.

95% chance I wont make the race tomorrow.

95% chance I will. :D

In other news, if anyone is going to miss the race please PM ME so I don't miss your post in the thread.

Negative, I am a meat popsicle. It'll be 7am and I'll be thinking about how I ate too much the night before.

Guys, I'm going to have to pull out of this series before it's even begun due to WSM and the NASCAR Truck Series. Sorry and Good Luck for the Season. 👍

tom 👎 this is ten times better than both of them and a hell of alot more competitive!

Agreed.

And tom, didn't you make a fuss about making sure you were on the guaranteed list? :P

Edit: I may be in and out a few times today guys to check on thing. Still have some stuff to move, but we're about 85% finished. 👍

Not sure if this has been answered, but I'm scheduled to race tonight, and the day the DLC came out, I fully tuned the Roadster TC with supercharger and stage 3 engine internals and now can't buy another. I reduced the engine power to 213hp but my PP is 493. What should I do?
