I read about this race on flyinmiata and it sounds like great fun to participate.

You guys might be on to something. Maybe starting with Race 2 we can reserve the 16th spot for the winner of the previous weeks B-Room?

Practice room up. Never hosted before so I'm not sure if my connection is good enough to host, but all are welcome to come. We can switch host if mine isn't good enough.

I am out now. Nice meeting others in this series. You guys are FAST!

I was thinking something more along the lines of a "Targa" event. Maybe something to think about after this season is over.

Edit: By the way we are on the front page of Flyin' Miata's website, although it seems to be down at the moment...

Edit 2: Their website is working now.

That's freaking awesome! 👍

Someone's not confident that they can make the A room... :sly:

No im not too bad. But i am racing with a controller until i can afford a steering wheel and a stand for it. But if such things happen as for me not to make it. I am interested in how this "Race 2" would work?

Out of the group of people that don't make the main race, someone can decide amongst them who wants to host, then they can set up their own race.

Same rules and everything as the main event?

Well, when qualifying for race 1 is decided then everyone that didn't make it is free to run their own exhibition race.

Who ever feels like running it can just post in this thread that they're gonna open a room at a certain time (doesn't have to be at the same time as the FMSC race). Then you just join and race. I guess it would be an idea to grid up the field based on times and let late comers and non-qualifiers start at the back.

Doesn't have to be, that's why it's an exhibition race. It'd be totally up to the guys running it.

Btw spank, use the edit button, don't double post.

Okay! But its not going to matter for me cause I'm making Race A anyways! :) And sorry about the double post.

Pushing 40 people? Wow. Seriously reconsidering running NB. I'm not smooth enough to drive that thing consistently....

practice room up now 1472 6118 3830 2747 6252 jbell beat you to the punch there.

Rooms closed.

How do you guys do this? How do you set the grid?

My guess would be the same way we did it in the Lexus series, and the way we're doing it in my Integra series.

We all take the the track in free run mode, line up in our grid order, the host has the room set to "fastest first" then just starts the race. When done right (which is really easy to do) we'll be in out grid order when the race starts.

Is there going to be a room open tonight again

Go ahead and open when whenever you want. Practice rooms are practice rooms.

How do you guys do this? How do you set the grid?

It's right there in the first post:

Race Format:
To grid the cars at the beginning of the race, we all line up on a chosen straight of the track in order of our qualifying position. We set the room to grid drivers according to the "fastest first" option. If we start the race where everyone is parked in line in qualifying order it will put us in that order for the race start.

HandofGod25 (HandofGod25) - '04 - HEMI Orange / Silver

Just learned of this off of the Flyin' Miata website. I know I am not going to be competitive, but I don't care, this is the most interesting thing I've seen on GT5 yet. Feel like I should support it.

Wish there was a premium NB, but it'd be a 1.8 anyway, if there was one.

I'm new to GT5 online racing, but I want in on the Miata Cup. I own a Miata, and came here from the Flyin Miata page.

Added this to the front page:

The top 16 Qualifiers after both qualifying sessions will race in the main event on Sunday night. Those who did not achieve a fast enough time to compete will be allowed to run their own race in a separate room. This room can be raced on pre-determined rules by the race host, but the car specs MUST stay the same. The winner of this unofficial race will earn 5 points and an automatic entry into the following weekend's official race.

Comments/suggestions welcomed....

I guess we should clarify a bit. Can the winner of a group B race improve his position by qualifying higher than 16th in the following week?

But aside from clarification, I feel like I would rather just run where I qualified. If I win a group B race, but I can't put down a lap that gets me into the top 16 the following week, I'll probably enjoy racing more with those closer to my skill level than running 25 laps at the back of the pack. But this is just my opinion, I can see why others may want the chance to run with the fast guys (maybe you'd learn more that way).
