They are magic. I at 19.5 or something as a best. Don't feel bad and keep going. I don't have a wheel with a clutch, would that help?

I have a g27 and never use the clutch.

Btw, is anyone else using their shifter with their g25/27? Ideally I'd like to use a sequential shifter 'cause it's not as fun using paddles. I only like to use paddles for faster cars.

I'm using the shifter so I can throw it from 4th to second...but Im just as fast with the paddles...no clutch for me (i mean I have one....but don't use it)

I'm running consistent :19.2's but my best the other night was a :18.986 so hope i can do it tonight. at the least start in the back of the back and work my way up!

4th to 2nd? Hah, I'd feel sorry for your car's race mechanic.

I never really looked into why using the clutch was banned for most competition in GT5 Prologue. Like what exactly made it faster, I can only assume it makesnthe shifts faster. But I don't think that's a problem in GT5.

Nah it's that you can disengage the engine without worrying about engine braking. Same thing with leaving it in 4th as your braking. It's common practice IRL racing so as not to produce wear and tear on your engine. Obviously you still have to match the revs on the way down otherwise you'll hurt your transmission, but if you match them properly it's no different from shifting from 3rd to 2nd.

There was some kind of glitch that made the shifts really quick, making your lap times faster.

I really hate GVE! I'm barely in the 1:19s -- typically behind 0.7s at the 1st checkpoint, 1.6s at the 2nd, and 2.2 by the finish line. I can see making up .7 on the 1st complex left, and .6s on the hairpin before the straight, but I just don't see how I'm giving up .9s on that right-hander

Are you flat out from the tunnel-right on?

You can hold 79 or 80mph going through the tunnel if you hit it just right, but it's an easy place to mess up and ruin a lap if you're not focused. Which is another thing I love about running this track in the Miatas. 'cause it's all good and looks easy when you're running it in practice but as soon as you get a big group together it changes your approach really quick.

The first turn makes everyone nervous so it's a good way to instill good race craft in the first big race by force. Once you and your racers close by get through those first two turns it's pretty easy to follow, then it's a big test of will all over again.

I'm glad RT went with it.

Oh yeah and also, don't go below 60 in the last turn. 👍

Changed my plans. Need to qualify tonight. Only 16 in the room at one time, right. With 40 to qualify, do you know how many plan to do it tonight? If I can't join until 10:50 is that o.k.?

Are you flat out from the tunnel-right on?

I briefly lift through 1st turn, feather/brake for 2nd (68-70mph) and am flat out from there through the tunnel until the right hand turn. After the right hand turn I'm flat out to hairpin (~60mph) flat out across finish at ~103-104mph...

You can hold 79 or 80mph going through the tunnel if you hit it just right,

Yeah, I usually am 79-81 through the tunnel entry although I've been as high as 83 if I slide to (but not over) that curb. Really easy to lose a second fishtailing trying to go another 1mph though...

In room now. I'm actually nervous. Feels like waiting before a real Spec Miata race. Crazy.

If you've already qualified and still want to run practice laps, join this room:

1472-6118-3701-4253-6905

Hopefully this will help those who haven't qualified yet since the qual-y room is full. :)

EDIT: OK, no one joined in 40 mins so it's gone. :P
