Curious though, how would you left foot brake with the joystick?
Fair enough! If your driving style suits it, more power to you.I use the joystick and put simply, you don't left foot brake.
... You don't...Triggers.

Since I've been driving with a steering wheel, I've been driving with both feet, so I brake with my left foot as well. I've NEVER done that in the car because it felt wrong... well, when I'm driving really really fast, I use both feet in the car... then it kind of feels right.I use the joystick because it's what I've been using since GT3-GT4 days.
Plus, I find it hard to adapt to the triggers, because I would have to use 4 fingers atop of the controller (R2+L2 for brake/gas and R1+L1 for shifting) almost all the time.
I use the joystick for throttle/brake, R2+L2 for shifting, L1 to look behind and R1 for DRS/Overtake/Nitro.
I do recognize however that if you do get used to the triggers, it's the more pratical and faster way.
... You don't...
So basically, it is a disadvantage, but, left foot braking is not going to give you any significant improvements. It will, at the higher levels, it makes a difference to get that extra tenth or 2, but not more than that and especially at "lower" levels.
It's not 100% ideal but I got used to it a while ago and it just feels like there's more travel with which to modulate throttle, at least on PS4Fair enough! If your driving style suits it, more power to you.
