Owens, Garvey,
Yeah, it really stinks. I feel like I'm sort of caught between a rock and hard place with it though, because some great, clean, fast drivers are doing it; I don't want to come across as this nazi and start booting people, but people don't seem to be responding to "warnings." I also just want to focus on my own driving and having fun, with minimal to zero babysitting and without having to drop the hammer on these folks (many of which are my friends and I've had good battles with for a while now.)
I don't know, the jury is still out for me. People should just stop being idiots and keep the car on track. PD should have just made a proper penalty system. And the rest are paying a price for it now if you want a competitive driving experience.
I think maybe what I will end up doing is a warning system. 1 warning, then the 2nd offense is a boot for the night. If you're booted, don't take it personal and you are welcome to come back the next night. Unfortunately, this might mean some wicked fast guys have to sit out if they continue to do it. I can see if you make a mistake and go wide. If that happens, hit the brake and fall back in line to negate any advantage, whether you are out in front or behind. It's all on the honor system.
Like I keep saying, I really don't take this too seriously (really, real life racing is wayy more fun, but I have blast doing GT too
). But it's just not fun when others cheat like this. It's like exploiting a glitch in a first person shooter like Call of Duty or Halo.... Though I want to keep the competitive fun factor high, which is why I run penalties.
Another anecdote, I mowed the lawn at Cape Ring in the 2nd round of GT Academy. There I was fighting for a shot at living the dream. This is different; keep it on course. If this fails, then I'll just open "all courses elements" as in-bounds. I don't want to, but if it levels the playing field, like I said earlier "I'll take what I can get."
I'll make a decision before the next lobby. Stay tuned.
Nick
