No, but as I said earlier not everyone and their mother knows about it. I'm sure Ford is just teasing it because they can, and so they are.

It ins't just that. The damn thing ran the auto show circuit all year last year. The "concept" was on the floor at Chicago sitting right next to a Focus ST. They were gauging interest, it's there, and they're doing it. Kudos to them, in all seriousness.

The deal maker/breaker will be on the price of the car. Considering that the Focus ST starts at $23K, they'd need to put some space in. Assuming that the thing will be nearly as quick as the Mustang V6, and probably ring in at less than $20K to start, it'll be a hell of a deal.

My only hope is that MyFord Touch remains an option. Even if I don't mind the controversial controls, they're too damn expensive. Keep it optional, Ford.

Packing nearly 200 BHP is quite the upgrade, my guess is that it'll be making use of that three-stage traction control system frequently. Still, there really aren't as many visual upgrades as what I was expecting. Not a huge negative, but definitely a surprise.

I just wish Ford would sell us a standard Fiesta with the suspension bits from the ST. That alone would make me very happy, and save me a ton of cash.

You could probably upgrade the suspension on a standard Fiesta with some aftermarket goodies for cheaper and get the same effect.

The front does not look good. Something wit hhe lower grills not meshing too well with the tops grill/lights. Just my opinionz.
Other than that, it's a good looking honda fit, I mean ford fiesta.

Am I the only one who thinks the normal Fiesta looks better than the ST? Same goes for the Focus and Focus ST. Not a big fan of the grille.

I think it would look much better if the not-at-all-well-hidden black portion of the airdam wasn't there. It juts out at really odd angles, and doesn't mesh well with the body colored part just above it that also juts out at really odd angles.

I personally think all Fiestas look a bit crap. Still utterly unable to see the appeal of the styling, beyond its weird modernity.

The normal Fiesta will have the same grille for 2014....

Which makes the car look like a portable vacuum cleaner. C'mon the bigmouth quite fits the size of the Focus but for the Fiesta, I think they could have toned it down a bit.

I'm also not a big fan of the styling, but the pre-facelift models look better, except perhaps for the headlights.

I've already seen a preproduction model driving around here in West Michigan, and in person, it looks much better than the photographs. Does that mean it's better than the outgoing one? No, the Kinetic design suits the car much better, but it's always been held back by the five-door-only design here in the US.

Most of these new, mega-grilles look much better in person than in photos. Typical automotive photography focuses on low-angle shots, to suggest speed and dynamism. This tends to exaggerate big grilles. But view a car from standing height, as most owners do before they get into their cars or when purchasing at the showroom, and it looks fine.

Didn't dig the stormtrooper grille on the new Focus at first, but when I saw it in person, I finally figured out what they were trying to do. The dark side inserts are there to break up the large expanse of bumper and reduce visual weight up front. It's not an elegant solution, but the shape of the cutaway suggests the bumper itself cutting back from the top when it actually isn't.

The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST Will Cost Just $21,400

Pricing for the 2014 Ford Fiesta just went live. Yes, that includes the Fiesta ST. The Fiat 500 Abarth has some competition.

With no options, the Fiesta ST will cost just $21,400. That's $600 less than an Abarth and undercuts a Mini Cooper S by about $2,500. Suhweeeet.

And for that price, you're getting one of the most attractive hatchbacks on the market. And it has 37 more horsepower than the Abarth, to bring the total to a nice 197. It's not 200, but we'll take it. Dynamically, this looks like it'll be a pretty sweet little ride.

I just spec'ed one out as I'd like it, and with Recaro seats and a couple other little doo dads, the little ST came to $24,985. That's definite Abarth territory.

If you don't want a hot rod, the regular sedan starts at $14,000 and the hatchback at $14,600. Not bad at all.

$21,400 is a really good starting price and should give it a really nice boost against it's competition.

That's not too bad, price wise. The performance should be fairly substantial as well, given the low weight and the 200 BHP under the hood.

It's a damn shame that the Chevrolet Sonic RS (which is $100 more expensive) has such modest performance increases at the same price. As much as I love that little Chevrolet, the Ford is clearly the superior car in this performance category.

The great thing about the Fiesta over the Abarth and MINI is that you can't double the price with options.

Been driving the ST over the last few days. Here's my completely un-subtle plug of my review...

TL;DR - It's bloody brilliant. And the styling is beginning to grow on me too.

Edit: And a few other things I discovered. No, there's no RS model on the way. Also, the U.S. chassis settings will be identical to those of the European car. So you guys won't be getting a poor relation of the car we get.

The other thing to note is that the U.S. version isn't more powerful, either. EU regs mean companies have to quote constant output here (179 bhp/182 PS), whereas in the U.S. they're allowed to quote peak, which is around 200bhp. But that's an overboost figure, so really you're still getting a 179bhp car.

I'll be quite sad to see this Fiesta go.

When it was launched back in 2008, I was obsessed with the new car market. Having grown up in a Ford family, I was also a little bit obsessed with the brand - seeing this Ogilvy "This Is Now" spot on television for the first time was tremendously exciting for me. It's definitely a car I've grown up with, and judging from its market dominance in the UK, it's shaped what we see on the roads to a considerable extent. I wouldn't say it's iconic - but it's definitely an era defining car in its class.

Wait - If I'm not mistaken, wouldn't this ST200 basically be the US version heading out to the rest of the world?

That's what I've been wondering. The 9 and the 7 keep swapping spots in the power output based on market!

I suppose this isn't exactly the same as ours though: two less doors. :(

The American car quotes the overboost peak output, whereas European law dictates Ford can only claim the standard output. US and European cars are the same in standard output and peak overboost outputs.
