Why couldn't they make it look a bit more like this? The black bar in the grill is just a disgrace.

The previous generation was trying too hard to look sporty and agressive. the 2003 generation was not trying hard enough to look sporty and agressive.
The 2014 ST grille was too big anyway. But the 2015 RS' black spot in the grille would look better if it was coloured according to the rest of the car.

Remove that license plate and you've basically got the same thing.

Following yesterday's leak, the latest Ford Focus RS is now ready to step out into the light and light up its tires. Answering the call is the same 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo four as you'd find in the newMustang, but upgraded with a new low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger, larger compressor and intercooler, freer-flowing intake, large-bore dual-pipe exhaust with electronically controlled valve and upgraded internal components. The result is a 6,500-rpm redline (closer to that of Ford's atmospheric performance engines) and an output quoted as "well in excess of 315 horsepower" – which is already 5 more than the EcoBoost Mustang and a good 63 more than the existing Focus ST.

Sounds like a bitch to repair...

Those still suspicious of dual-clutch gearboxes will also be pleased to read that Ford has stuck with a conventional six-speed manual.

With its high-efficiency EcoBoost design featuring direct fuel injection, twin independent variable camshaft timing, advanced turbocharging and Auto Start-Stop as standard, the engine also delivers significantly improved fuel consumption.

Please tell me I can disable that 🤬!

A six-speed, good old fashioned stick? Good.

Auto-stop system? Not so good, but I guess we had that coming, in this low-emissions-are-law world...

Oh well, at least the performance is still there, so it's not a big loss.

daww, now I can't wait to see what else Ford has in store for this year. The Focus RS is a fantastic start for 2015.

Im sure Ken Block was consulted about the drifting nature of the RS.
I don't doubt his efforts have influenced the decision to go AWD. There's a ton of marketing magic in that. If the car had been FWD people would be furious because Block is the one who switched to Ford and has built these crazy AWD Ford rally machines. He's the reason people want it, and they'll buy the hell out of it.

Sounds great, kinda like an SRT4.

I will own one, one of these days.

That guy has the worst accent. It's like German, Portuguese, French, and "bruv" English all mixed toogedder.

Have you seen an ethnicity map of Europe? It looks like a kindergarten finger painting. I'm surprised any of them know where anybody else comes from. The only thing they have in common is a universal love for the Focus RS.

Why are people so annoyed over a Start-Stop? If it's on a stick then the engine will be ready to go faster than you can declutch anyways...

I was hoping for an option of a double-clutch since I think it would be fantastic in a car like this, but other than that very minor detail I love it. Sounds great too. I think my biggest worry will be the price though, I'm guessing around $30,000 and that might be a hard sell for a public that views the Focus as an economy car.

I'm also wondering if this will show up in any sort of rally trim, I know it can't race at the WRC level since it's too big both size and engine wise, but I wonder if any Rally America team will try one out?

3door Fiesta RS with 320hp/AWD would have been the go. But no one would be willing to pay $40k for a lunch box no matter how good it is. It'd be limited numbers as well. I'd buy it, but that's me.

I know they no longer make 3dr Focus wich is a complete shame. Hell, US doesn't even get 3dr Fiestas..

People are bitching about all sorts of stuff. Oooooh, it's a 5-door (no offense @Leonidae@MFT)...well, so is its competition, the STi, Evo and Golf R. Why the hell would Ford introduce a less practical product? And get this, I actually read some comments on Jalopnik of people complaining it was AWD! What on earth are these people thinking? If this car weren't AWD its business case would immediately go out the window because, guess what, all the competition is AWD. It's called competition and introducing an inferior product is the failure of that endeavor.

The only use a 3-door hatch has the US these days is as a tiny city car.

a hard sell for a public that views the Focus as an economy car.
And those are precisely the people who won't be considering this car anyway. If you wanna know who will buy a Focus RS, look at who buys the STi and Golf R. There's your core demographic. It will probably also poach sales from the lower-spec pony cars, including Ford's own Mustang. Thanks to Ken Block, this is the product the US hot hatch market has been waiting on for years. Hell, Block already did a gymkhana with it and people are probably already lined up around the block to get one.

Not always. Now I don't know if Mercedes Benz's system is particularly slow or if this would be faster, but I definitely declutched faster than my rental A-Class could start its engine and stalled out at least a couple of times over two weeks/2500 km.

With that said, I don't really mind the start-stop and I'm not unconvinced by it. You kinda get used to it and you adjust accordingly.

I'm sure there there is an off button. If it's like the Subaru version, it must be turned off each time the car is started. It's not annoying, but should remain off until the operator turns it back on.

I'm definitely not complaining about the Focus RS with any amount if doors. This is all positive in the Ford camp. ANY performance model by Ford, I'm going to support. It keeps my hopes alive for future FP models.

Touche. I just realize i've become a Ford fanboy lately, no not like other fanboys who bashes chevy and dodge. It's just i like Fords a lot more than the other two. Ford keep making the right moves this time with the FP models.

The only thing I don't like is the outer intakes being squared off. They just font how with the front for me.

Remember the old saying? You won't be looking at the outside of the car when you're driving. And neither will the people eating your dust. ;)

Those rims on the prototype that Ken Block drove looks better than the production version. I wish they use those instead lol
