The Ford GT Competition Series was engineered to build on the car’s innovative lightweight and aerodynamic design. The track fans’ ultimate production car removes weight higher in the vehicle and shifts the center of gravity closer to the track for even better road-holding, and to maximize its 647 horsepower engine.

“The Ford GT has racing in its blood,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, global product development, and chief technical officer. “The Competition Series was developed with the most hardcore track enthusiasts in mind, providing a tailored set of lightweight features and unique livery to match.”

For example, the innovative lightweight, race-inspired Perspex® acrylic engine hatch cover with manual latch and carbon fiber prop rod reduces weight near the roof and shifts the balance of weight lower in the car.

Similarly, the bulkhead Gorilla Glass® behind the driver is about half as thick – and lighter – as on other models.

All performance features from the standard production car remain, including the FIA-certified steel roll cage and active aerodynamic system. Items not essential to performance – including air conditioning, radio and speakers, stowage bins and cupholders – are eliminated.

Weight-reducing optional equipment – such as performance-enhancing carbon fiber wheels, and titanium lug nuts and exhaust – are standard on the Competition Series.

Copious carbon

The Competition Series also looks the part with unique gloss carbon fiber stripe, mirror caps and A-pillars, as well as exposed carbon fiber lower body trim in matching gloss finish.

Inside, the Competition Series maintains the lightweight interior and keeps the same driver-centric elements of other models, including the F1-styled steering wheel with key functional controls. Ebony Alcantara® suede is used on the seats, instrument panel and headliner.

Exposed carbon fiber accentuates the console, registers and door sills. Anodized red paddle shifters and instrument panel badge bring accent color to the cabin, while a unique center console plate and steering wheel fascia account for the deleted infotainment controls and screen.

The Competition Series is offered in six Ford GT colors – Shadow Black, Frozen White, Ingot Silver, Liquid Blue, Liquid Grey and Triple Yellow – and is available in North America for all announced production years.

The car will headline Ford’s large display – alongside its broader lineup – outside Turn One at the Daytona 500 this weekend.

I really hope they come up with a better wheel design. Those look like a knockoff aftermarket design.

Maybe off topic, but goddamn is Doug Demuro like audio sleeping pills. His reviews are just so drab and uninteresting. It also doesn't help his video titles are mostly the same, usually "Here's why (brand and car name) is (usually an adjective, other times 'why it's worth (price point)"

He's kind of at that point where he's almost like the buzzfeed of cars.

I watched quite a lot of his content lately, so I don't find him particularly drab. His exaggerated enthusiasm - whether fake or not - is honestly a personality only unique to him. But particularly, the segment where he reviews the various quirks of a car is what got me watching his stuff. Not so much about his opinion. Though I'll have to admit, the new Ford GT video kinda sounded a bit too perfect. And the titles are a bit clickbait, but plenty (of Youtubers) choose to have clickbait titles nowadays.

I only like the part of the video where he talks about the weird stuff about the cars since most journalists don't talk about that. I usually close the video after that.

Hey now, let M5Power be M5Power.

We're going to have ford return to Le Mans without some cross-pond antagonism? Enzo isn't around and..

Oh. The President is Orange.

And yet he has nearly 600,000 subscribers. So there's something he must be doing alright.

I find him to be annoying too.

You can buy subscribers (and views) on youtube.

Doug's averaging 2,500 subscribers a day & continuously grabs 500,000 views easily. The amount of money it would take to upkeep those averages would make absolutely no sense as YouTube would not monetize his videos with fake subs/views, meaning he couldn't afford some of the cars he's purchased or how much he travels. I highly doubt AutoTrader's throwing money at him for his articles, either.

Even if he was doing it in the beginning to get some popularity going, it definitely wasn't cheap; 100,000 views is a $100. 10,000 subs is around $150. That's a lot of money to invest in a video/channel off the bat knowing it won't be monetized. It's clear over the last year, the channel has grown organically as the formula has stayed the same, but the subjects have gotten far more interesting to garner view count.

If you're name is Dwayne Johnson sure, but if your just some Joe it's not and many popular youtubers have stressed this. Which is why they get irritated when some one like "The Rock" just says he's going to join youtube.

Wellll, I'm not sure about that. By just being THE Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, that alone is enough star power to grab subcribers without a need to purchase some. I do agree with your point though.

But what about The Rock 'Dwayne' Johnson, with his famous tagline, 'Can you smell my Johnson?'
I thought it was "Can you smell the Rock I'm cooking?", but that's been so long since I watched him wrestle.

I think he's pretty decent in most the movies he's in, he's 100x better then that non-talent having guerilla(gorilla*) of an actor they call Vin Diesel.

Man, actors are doing some weird things to get in character. Now they're in the jungle with AK's and ****?

Agreed, but Youtube are obviously going to help him out more than the average youtuber because he is as you said "by just being Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Him being big on youtube only helps youtube's growth (as if they need it).

Point is unless you have star power already and money to buy the viewers you'll use it. However, in this case it seems there is an audience that actually like said car journalists that others find repulsive. And considering the seasonal ratings and viewership of the Kardashian's show, I'm not surprised that there is a sizable lot that enjoy Demuro.

Ford suing John Cena for sell his '17 GT
john-cena-ford-gt.jpg

WWE superstar and actor John Cena is facing the wrath of Ford, after selling his $500,000 2017 GT supercar before his contract allowed it to.

A copy of the lawsuit, posted on WXYZ, explains that the 40-year old man was supposed to hold on to the exotic machine made in Michigan for two years, but he ended up selling it shortly after taking delivery, and for a huge profit too.

"After being selected from thousands of applicants for the opportunity to purchase the Ford GT, Mr. Cena flipped his vehicle shortly after taking delivery of it, despite his agreement with Ford to maintain ownership of the vehicle for 24 months", is written in the nature of the action of the lawsuit.

"Upon information and belief, Mr. Cena has unfairly made a large profit from the unauthorized resale flip of the vehicle, and Ford has suffered additional damages and losses, including, but not limited to, loss of brand value, ambassador activity, and goodwill due to the improper sale."

Cena is charged with Breach of Contract, Fraud, Silent Fraud, Innocent Misrepresentation, and Unjust Enrichment by Ford, which are willing to close an eye on the illegal transaction if the professional wrestler hands them over the profits from selling the GT, in addition to other expenses.

To his excuse, John Cena admitted of selling the Ford GT, along with other property, to pay some bills, admitting that "I completely understand and as stated am willing to work with Ford to make it right. My sincerest apologies."

So is Ford trying to do the same thing that Porsche wanted to do with 911R owners looking to flip their cars for profit?

That explains why I haven’t seen any listed yet.

Basically, yes. Even if the case falls through, John will likely be barred from ever owning a specialty Ford like this from new again (not that it matters given it’s Ford).

Well the only reason why he should be worried is when Ford makes yet another GT in 2030. Heh.
