Is the 3rd Gen Subaru Liberty available in the US in your price range?

For pretty much exactly 10K US down here can get you this

It's a GX, so it only has 130HP. But you might be able to get the 2.5L RX for slightly higher price or with more miles.

I don't know about Michogan, but in Ohio I hardly ever notice that generation Legacy on the roads. I see the Outback wagon and Foresters, and I even saw my first Baja recently, but i can't remember seeing any of that Legacy. Maybe they're really rare, or maybe they're just Toyota bland. Heck, I've seen more SVXs than that Legacy.

Speaking of SVX, that would be a car to own. I don't know if they're as special as I think they are, but I've seen many more Vipers than I have Subaru SVXs.

They're probably around that price range. But you can only get them in Auto, and I'd hate to even think about the cost of parts.

On the other hand they are very cool and unquie.

To be honest, I only have seen two SVX models here in Michigan, one of which belonged to a kid I used to go to High School with. It was a pretty cool car, and it would be awesome to have something as rare as that, but the costs certainly would be outrageous.

The Liberty/Legacy is in kinda the same boat. We're far more likely to find the Outback variant around here, and even then, they are quite rare as well. A friend of mine tried to sell me her '99 Outback with the flat-six, and although it was in pretty good shape and didn't have too many miles on it, as soon as she began to describe the replacement parts costs, I turned it down.

Well, as a Subaru owner, I can tell you that part costs aren't that bad. They are about on par with Honda etc. Of course, they want you to use special magic Subaru fluids and stuff that cost a pretty penny, but you can get better synthetic stuff for less money.

They are very easy to work on, too. The engine etc. is well laid out.
