Haas VF22, quite a lot of differences to the show car, I'm sure there's more to come and that we will see more elements at the first test but this is our first real glimpses at 2022.

Same livery as before, so meh, but done slightly more tastefully following the natural curves of the car

I hope the front wing endplates don't all look like that, that's an absolutely disgusting too-tall trapezium.

Front wing from the side view looks ridiculous.

Nice Russian flag though.

Front wing endplates + crosswinds = Nikita's new excuse.

(And Mick's, to a lesser extent.)

Bizarrely, my first thought was that the previous style of numbers in the white circle looked way better, and the numbers on that design are too small and hard to see. I'm just so used to silly looking aero on F1 cars that the front wing didn't even register to me until someone pointed out how weird the endplate dimensions are.

Not like there's a good engine in there that needs the air anyway...
If the Ferrari unit has developed as Binotto has claimed then it should be good. However, sticking it in a tractor doesn't make a fast car.

So the new McLaren has been 'leaked' early, the new lego set shows a livery that shock looks the same as last year, and on the promo images of the box, among images of last year's car seems to be a side on image of this years car. (I can't tell if it is the generic 2022 promo car in McLaren colours or the real deal)

McLaren have said this in it's announcement of the Lego set:

"The LEGO McLaren Formula 1 Race Car celebrates McLaren's iconic papaya livery carried on the MCL35M race cars throughout the 2021 F1 season, while also providing an interpretation of the new look 2022 F1 race cars as the sport heads into an era of refreshed regulations."

Zak Brown has also supposedly confirmed in an interview that the 2022 livery will also be papaya and blue, but will be more vibrant and with an updated design and McLaren themselves have already shown off a new number font for Lando Norris car the other day via social media.

This feels like the most pointless launch season ever. It's just slightly tweaked versions of the F1 show car from last year with team's liveries on them. Can anyone say they're honestly surprised by the Red Bull? And it'll be the same for the Mercedes, Ferrari, etc

I think it'll be interesting to see what version of the show car each team uses, there's at least 3 that we've seen and the RB18 is very different to the VF22 Haas.

Even Christian Horner said that the car won't look like this at the first test or first race.

Definitely a lot more yellow on the nose of the RB18 compared to last years livery. Wonder if it's noticeable on the track.

The nose was the bit that really stood out to me. That and the new sponsor on the side pod. I think it'll stand out especially if we have a sea of dark coloured cars again.

And I think it's always like this. It's just hype, publicity and advertising.

Also this year most of the interesting stuff is under the car which is convenient for keeping secrets 🤫

From an aesthetic point of view, my personal hope is the majority of the nose cones on the new cars are similar to that on the Red Bull show car.

With all the teams playing their cards close to their chests, it will be interesting to see how different they will look on track.
